Chereads / THE DOWNFALL OF THE DEMONS#SERIES 1 / Chapter 13 - To the fullest

Chapter 13 - To the fullest

"So tell me, wasn't the sunset worth watching? It was beautiful right?" I asked, my gaze fixed to the sky that was now covered with dark clouds with a small smile on my face.

"Hmm..." He shortly replied, "You don't have the bandage around your head anymore..."

Turning my gaze to him, "Yeah, the wound has covered up."

"Really?" He asked and I nodded my head, telling him "Yes". "Let me see..." He said and stretched his hand towards my face.

Moving the hair that fell down the left side of my face, he placed it behind my ear and slowly yet gently ran his finger on the little scar I had on my left temple.

Shivers ran down my spine as he ran his finger slowly on my temple, my throat ran dry and for no reason at all, I felt nervous.

Once he was sure the injury had covered up, he was about pulling away but somehow, his fingernail scratched her on the injured part and he couldn't help but jolt when he heard her wince in pain.

Lifting my hand with the attempt to touch where Raman had just scratched me, I stopped halfway when he immediately used his thumb to wipe away the blood that came out of the wounded part.

"I'm sorry... I'm very very sorry... It wasn't intentional." He apologized as he kept wiping the blood away that won't stop coming out.

I parted my lips to reply him but was caught up in my breath when I felt him blow cold air from his mouth on my temple. The cold air he blew from his mouth caressed my face and I couldn't help but flinch, it sent a wave of strange feelings through my entire body and it made me coil my toes.

Trailing his eyes from her s-shaped brows to her cateyes lashes that fell over her cheek, down to her slightly pointed nose and to her small lips that almost looked like they were calling out to him. He kept studying every feature of her beautiful face that he didn't notice he had stopped attending to her injury but rather began staring at her face. Turning her face to gaze at him, her baby blue eyes instantly locked with his and for the few seconds he stared intensively into her eyes, it almost seemed like time had stopped. An unfamiliar feeling spiraled through him and he couldn't tell if it was just him or it seem like the closeness of their face suddenly filled the air with some sort of tension.

Getting a grip on himself, he tore his eyes off her, pulled away and sat properly, looking up ahead.

Looking down at my knees, I sealed my eyelids shut before I opened it and slightly peeked at him from the corner of my eyes. When I noticed he had stopped blowing air on the injury he had just caused me, I decided to gaze at him and ask what was wrong but the instant we locked eyes, I couldn't help but get lost in those beautiful yet piercing silver eyes of his but now, the atmosphere seems heavy.

"Hmm... Ain't you hungry?" He asked, breaking the awkward silence between us.

"Hmm... No, not yet." I replied but I made sure not to make any form of eye contact.

"OK then, I'll be right back." He said, stood up anf began walking away.

I watched him walk away till he was out of sight before I tore my gaze off the direction he took and laid flat on my back and focused my gaze on the dark night sky that had no moon but had beautiful stars that were glistening up in the sky.

Why did my heart race so much when his face was close to mine?

Why do I feel so nervous each and every time he comes close to me?

So many thoughts ran through my mind as I closed my eyes but the gentle touch of breeze made me feel drowsy.

...

Walking down the stairs he walked into the kitchen, grabbed a glass, walked up to the water dispenser and poured himself some water before walking up to the refrigerator, opened it, grabbed some ice and dropped it into the glass of water.

Swallowing down a huge amount of water, he settled the glass on the kitchen island before running his finger through his hair.

"I'm sorry..."

His voice echoed in his head.

Did he really tell her he's sorry?

Did he really apologize to her?

That same word he had never told anyone, that same word he never thought he'll ever hear himself say was something he said to her not once but twice.

Those words came out with ease like it was something he's used to saying.

What the hell is she doing to him?

What sort of feelings is she erupting in him?

In just a matter of days, she's doing strange things to him, she's changing him but how?

How is she even doing it?

Is she some sort of witch or something?

If truly she's a human and not some sort of witch, why on earth did nature bring her to him?

Why on earth does he lose control of himself whenever he's with her?

Ever since she came into his life she's always in his mind 24/7 and even now he's thinking about her... What the heck?

Shaking his head, he heaved out a long sigh before he walked out of the kitchen into the lounge. Approaching the swell step, he thought of heading straight to his room but the thought of Ella sleeping all alone on the rooftop came across his mind and he had no other choice than to change route and headed up to the rooftop.

"Ella..." He called out to her the instant he caught up with her only to see her fast asleep.

Squatting down to her level, he admired her beautiful sleeping face. The more he stared at her the more he admired and found her beautiful and attractive.

Slowly, he stretched out his left hand and used his fingers to move away the strands of hair that the breeze had blown on her face to the back of her ear.

Seeing her sleeping face reminded him of the day he had saved her from the royal guards and the way he had studied her face when he had caught her before she fell. The only difference was that this time around, she wasn't looking pale nor were there blood running down her face. This time around, she was looking more beautiful than she looked the first time he laid his eyes on her.

"Wow... Foodie actually slept off without having anything to eat." He murmured to himself and he actually found himself chuckling.

Leaning down on her, the first thing he perceived was her lovely scent of roses. Her lovely scent was something he'd love to perceive all day long but not right now. He can't give in to this insane new urges of his so he needs to snap out of it.

Picking her up, he stared down at her face for a few seconds before he began taking steps, heading for her room first.

Slowly he laid her down on the trundle as he placed his palm behind her head and picked up a padded, place if behind her head and gently lay her head on the padded.

Gazing down at her face, he narrowed his brows as she studied her face. He had been trying to ignore it but this time around, he just couldn't.

Her face...

It seemed so familiar. Like he had seen her before even before he saved her from the royal guards.

She looked so familiar and at the moment, he was getting a feeling that he knows her very well but... From where?

"Where have I seen you?" He asked himself.

Trailing his gaze down to her pink lips, he kept his gaze fixated on her lips and once again, he was filled with the same urge that overcame him the very first time he had laid his eyes in her lips.

"Kiss her."

He heard the voice like someone spoke behind him but he knew this voice too well.

It was no other than his demon.

"Kiss her," The voice became louder, "taste her."

Pulling away, he immediately turn around, shut his eyes and swallowed down some saliva to wet his dry throat before he opened his eyes and walked away from the trundle.

Pulling the door open, he halted in his tracks, looked over his shoulder to spare a glance at her before walking out of the room and shutting the door behind him.
