Chapter 37 - Barou vs Dada Silva: Kurona's POV

"Hahaha! These kids mean business, don't they?" Dada Silva laughed hysterically.

Adam Blake answered, "You damn right. Well, I don't mind, as long as we win."

"Sorry kids, we wanted to let you have fun, but this is where it comes to an end. We have to win this game, or else we won't be paid, I'm here for the money after all," he added.

"Hahaha!" Silva burst out laughing.

"Well, they were doomed from the start, weren't they?" Cevasoz said.

"Yeah, we have to show them the real world; that's why we're here," Loki responded as he was stretching.

"It looks like you're already pumped up," Blake said.

"Yessir!" Loki responded with a smirk.

"Calm down, It's not fair, you've already scored three goals in the last game. Give us a pass too; we also need our goal bonus," Silva complained.

"Hahaha," Blake laughed as he patted Silva on the back.

"Okay, that's enough for me; then I'll leave this one to you; end this quickly, and let's hit the showers," Loki said as he passed the ball to Cevasoz.

Kurona's Perspective

I couldn't help but smile as I saw Murano score the game's first goal. We were off to a good start, but I knew that we still had a long way to go.

"The job's not finished," Murano said as he ran back to his position.

I nodded in agreement. To win, we still needed to score four more goals, and I have to do my part. Yes, we did manage to score a goal, but I didn't do much; I'll have to try my best going forward.

Loki passed the ball to Cevasoz and resumed the game.

"Don't leave a wide gap in your legs, I might as well pass through it," He said, grinning as he nutmegged Barou.

The next person in line to defend against Cevasoz was Murano. He inhaled deeply as he got ready to counter Cevasoz. He was well aware of Cevasoz's skill as a player and knew what he needed to do.

"Looks like you aren't going anywhere," Murano said, staring deep into Cevasoz's eyes as he drew nearer.

"Should I go for a solo goal or what? Nah, I'll do that later," Cevasoz said as he scratched his hair.

"What a bother," He said as he hit a long pass to the other side of the field, where Adam Blake was.

However, Hiori intercepted the pass and quickly passed it to Barou, who made a run through the midfield. As soon as it appeared that we had the ball back, I broke from the defensive line and started running forward as well.

I turned to see how the play was going when I noticed Dada Silva charging toward Barou and the two players squaring off.

I had to draw back because I knew then that there was only a little chance that Barou was going to get past Dada Silva. He had an extreme build, earning him the nickname 'tank' for his on-field tanker role. 'It is impossible,' I thought.

So I drew back to the defensive line again. However, I saw Murano sprinting forward; perhaps he could help Barou get past Silva.

"You think you can beat me, kid? I've been playing this game for longer than you've been alive." Silva said sternly.

"I don't care how long you've been playing. I know that I'm better than you." Barou responded, which pissed Silva off.

Barou made feints to the right and left, trying to get past Dada Silva, but Silva was too good. He stayed with Barou every step of the way, and Barou couldn't separate from him, but he still refused to pass the ball to Murano, who was open and held onto the ball.

"You're going to need more than that if you want to beat me." Dada Silva said angrily.

Barou tried to make a fake drag back, but Dada Silva caught onto it and moved the ball from his feet. A short pass from Dada Silva made its way to Luna, who shot the ball directly as it got to his feet.

However, magically and unexpectedly, Shidou was there to be found in the net, as he kicked it away from the net. A bicycle kick was used to clear the ball rather than to score.

The loose ball found its way to me. It was about time I made a play. Loki was charging up to me, so I had to send the ball right away as soon as it landed on me.

'Flick it with my left foot—no, my right—omg, he's so fast, he's already here, I know what to do,' I thought as I flicked the ball on my chest instead and hit a short cross straight to Barou. Barou was the only player I could send without the angle being blocked by Loki. So I moved the ball with my chest and quickly to my feet, then sent a cross.

Fortunately, the ball reached Barou perfectly—more perfect than I had initially visualized. It was now time for the counterattack. Murano and Barou remained the only two players from my team who were in the opposition's half.

However, I don't think Barou would pass to Murano if it came to it. Through our past matches, they mostly worked together indirectly, but It was a rare sight for Barou to exchange passes with either of us. But they had to work together if we were going to win this match.

The counter-attack started as Barou and Murano executed the "Blade Counterforce" chemical reaction. This reaction happens during a counterattack when I cross the ball to either one.

Barou and Murano would sprint forward, while either one would act as a blade to cut through the opposition while assisting the one on the ball to move up front.

During this play, The assister is supposed to beat the opponent through off-ball movements while the attacker advances upfield.

In this phase, Murano had managed to beat Pablo Cevasoz through off-ball movements, and Barou had managed to advance to the attacking third and was heading to the opposition's penalty box.

Once again, Dada Silva was the only player there to stop him. It would be foolish to think that he could dribble past Silva, but the king had a strong ego to do it all by himself. Man, I would have to punch him in the head if he managed to lose the ball again.

Silva vs. Barou

Barou stopped his run as Silva was just in front of him. A step over to the right—it was fake—but Silva wasn't fazed. He made a chop to the right, and Silva almost shifted his body in the wrong direction.

"Don't play with me, you were doomed from the start," I heard Silva say to Barou as he tried to forcefully shoot, but that was also a fake.

But before I had noticed it, Murano was standing behind Barou. 'Don't tell me—' As I was thinking about it, Murano smashed the ball through the space between Barou's legs toward the goal post.

'Don't tell me that this is going through,'
