Chapter 25 - Investments

"I am grateful. However this was not the matter we wanted to discuss with you." I said to the lord.

"Then how can I be of service, your highness?"

"The lady told me it can get very dry this time of the year."

"Yes," he said looking at his wife, a crease appearing between his dark eyebrows,"I am aware she is… less comfortable." a smile tugged on his lips as he teased his wife.

"I may have a solution to her problem. I, too, do not like dry weather."

"Can you fix the weather?" he asked me, a quizzical look on his face.

"Yes?" I answered.

"Yes? Can you fix the weather?" asked Bridget.

I smiled at them, this was the best part about inventions. They bring some amazing reactions from people.

"Maybe not on a wide range, but more locally. We can also adjust the coldness to a comfortable degree."

"What scale are we discussing?" asked the lord.

"I am yet to try it on big rooms, but I can guarantee that my product works in carriages and small closed spaces." I responded.

"A product? Of your own creation?"

"Yes. my assistant can take care of some of the production, we can make a sample for our use. It should be ready for use in two days." I assured him.

The lord appeared in deep thought. After a while he said:" What do you have in mind for afterwards? Do you plan to mass-produce once you return to Tanery?"

"I do not have plans for that yet. My return is still far, I do not know how it will go once I return, as you know Tanery's laws are strict when it comes to production."

"Let me be honest, your highness. If your product succeeds I plan on investing in it. I am sure Leini's trade would be of great influence on such a product." he told me as he looked very serious, switching from the loving husband the successful businessman he is known to be.

"Do you wish to invest in a product you are yet to see?" I asked.

"Indeed." he nodded," I am willing as long as it makes her happy. Your reputation is well-know even here, everyone knows of the smart princess of Tanery. You are here for that reason, are you not?"

" You are not wrong, but I give you no guarantees." I told him, my self-doubt surfacing.

" I need none. If Bri likes it she shall have it, you name any price, name any conditions."

"Allright. We shall test it upon our trip to the city."

"We can go in two days, I will get everything else ready." said Bridget excitedly.

" It is decided then." her husband said.

"Your highness, your lordship, your ladyship, pardon my sudden leave." said Hebron as he abruptly entered, appearently done handling what needed to be handled.

"Is everything Allright?" I asked, trying to look concerned for my knight.

Hebron let out a sigh, a frown deeply etched on his forehead," I am afraid not. I shall be gone for the next week, a short trip I need to make, but worry not for things shall be resolved."

"Any news from the Frontlines?" asked the Lord.

Hebron nodded,"The holly knights have lost yet another battle. It seems we need to move sooner."

"I will send a word to the royal palace requesting more feedback." said as he stood up.

"Did the war break? Are we in danger?" asked a worried bridget, holding into her husband's cape with pleading eyes.

"No, no, worry not. It is far too early for war to break. We shall be fine." answered her husband as he cupped her face, gently calming her.

"Indeed, it is not that serious. Pardon me your ladyship for I have worried you." said Hebron.

"Thank god it is not bad, though I have to say, you shall be dearly missed when we leave for shopping." I told Hebron, a smile on my face. " Worry not, my dear. I will purchase you the prettiest, most colorful dress I lay my eyes on."

He laughed, so did Bridget and her husband, and I smiled, knowing that every laugh he gives me is a dagger he plants on my back.
