Chapter 21 - Flashback Torin Komolas

Author's POV

"Hey!! Are you okay? Good grief!!! Mason, it looks like they're a sibling... his brother is dying!!" a female voice startled Warren, who was still holding Torin in a hug; he opened his eyes slowly to see a pair of bright blue eyes that night.

Warren realized he was safe, "Help!!! please treat my brother; she is dying and has a high fever!!" he got up and begged in front of the woman crouching before him, not paying attention to the chaos around him.

"Don't worry; we'll take you and your brother. You're the only ones left here; thank goodness a dove brought us to you," she said simultaneously as three men with headscarves carried Torin. "Take the sick first; find a good doctor in Lefbay. Then you, what's your name?"

"My name is Warren Komolas, and my brother is named Torin Komolas,"

"All right, Warrens. We will save both of you, so try to stay calm and do not panic; we are still in vampire territory." the girl answered him and continued her words. "You are from the dark elf race; it seems your power sends messages through the animals helping us. Thanks for your help; we might die in this forest if the pigeons don't guide us away from the Giant's nest at the end of the forest."

He still couldn't walk, and the girl walked beside him, approaching the half-white-haired man near the Giant's body.

"They all died?" asked Warren as he looked and smelled the thick smell of blood, body parts, and a lifeless giant.

"They are dead, even your other friends. Don't you feel sad about that?"

"They are not my friends!" Warren replied he didn't like remembering that no one even wanted to help him when his sister was tortured.

The girl smiled warmly and rubbed her head, "Okay. My name is Delmira Taher, and the strange half-white-haired man is my husband; we were spying on the slave syndicate, but we lost them, and suddenly a dove appeared to disturb us, and we arrived here with three giants who were almost full, eating almost all the enslaved people." Delmira explained while looking at her husband approaching. "Okay, you will be taken by the guards. Rest up; we'll be right back." Delmira said simultaneously as her eyes blurred seeing the two husband and wife moving away from her sight.

.....

Warren turns 24 this year, eight years later, and follows wherever his master travels as a guard. Two years ago, Warren and Delmira finally created a small group known as an information association that could be bought even with one's life; Mason also created a group of assassins who began to be known by their name with a dark whisper. Anyone who hears the assassin's name belonging to their association will shudder in fear because no one has ever survived after seeing it; a dark whisper has a silent step that makes the target not know where they are.

And Torin, Warren's brother, was the only one who survived; he spoiled his brother to create for all the pain when they were tortured and exiled by the native elves because of poverty; Warren gave everything he could for his brother. And there is other news, a year after, they devoted themselves to the Taher husband and wife. One day the two returned in the middle of the night with several wounds on their bodies while carrying a cloth bundle containing a red newborn baby still having a fresh placenta; everyone at that time panicked with Delmira's hysterical crying.

But Warren and Delmira never told what happened to them nor who the child they brought with them was, but Warren thought it was the child of the parents the two husband and wife failed to save. And until now, the child is seven years old and given the name Verity Morana. She is pretty quiet but easy to smile, she is also known to be shy, but he knows she is not pure blood.

Delmira's adopted child is half-blood; they can't hide it, like most children of wolf descent. Their fangs grew longer than their usual teeth; they would shrink until they could control their strength. But the aura was that of an elf; Warren could feel it.

Warren was currently in charge of looking after Verity two years ago, so he was rarely given orders to leave the house like he used to be. And now Delmira's daughter is playing in the flower garden of this simple mason whose existence no one knows to protect us from enemy ambushes; this house is in the middle of a forest with dangerous paths. Dark Whisper has memorized the way in and out; it will go straight to the city center.

Because this forest is on the side of Light pack town, Warren stood at a distance of 10 meters so that Verity was comfortable playing with her imagination with the dolls.

"Warren!! Is that you?" The high-pitched voice made him turn to see one of his friends there.

"What's wrong, Ron?" he asked, seeing his friend panicked.

He took a deep breath and babbled, "Your brother!! He made another mess at the bar because he was drunk; even last night, he didn't finish hitting a prostitute who was ordered!! And now the two shops in the market are demanding compensation if they don't take your sister to the supervisor's office. What's worse, they discover that your sister is part of the dark whisper group!!"

Before long, Warren took his eyes off Ron to see daughter Delmira standing there clutching her doll, looking where she was standing. Information like this he had heard several times; his spoiled little brother had been causing trouble since two years ago when he became Verity's special guard. Torin doesn't accept it, especially since his training until now is exceptionally cruel. He has already passed the probationary period to do camouflage, and now he is training his body's endurance.

And because two years ago, Warren's brother was given orders to steal an item in the Left Bay with camouflage, he failed because he underestimated his task and made a mess of himself, thinking that his brother would be by his side saving him from a Mason rampage. But Warren didn't do it; he let Mason give punishment which made his relationship with Torin distant and started chaos like it is today.

"Leave it alone, he's just boasting, and there's no way my brother would reveal his identity as a dark whisperer to anyone else," Warren said confidently, but Ron doubted it. "Go and bring my brother back; I still have work. Delmira asked me not to leave Verity no matter what until she returns, so I'm asking you to pick up my brother gently or forcefully." he continued to Ron, who shook his head in disbelief.

But Warren didn't expect the day he abandoned his sister was so disastrous; there was an ambush right before Delmira and Mason returned to the mansion. Everyone screamed, and there was the sound of fighting; he ran with Verity in his arms and saw Torin on his way to the second floor.

"Torin!! Are you okay?" Warren asked, panicked, and Torin just nodded with sharp eyes looking at Verity. "Okay, now go to the second floor and hide, and don't come out until I come. Accompany Verity into hiding."

And after that, Verity disappeared, and Torin was dishonorably expelled from the residence and the dark whisper organization. Warren kept silent even though his brother begged for help after that.
