Avita began to describe and narrate what she had been up to since being fired the previous week. Patrick's heart ached for his girlfriend as he heard more.
He is aware that she was proud and hardworking to some level. It must have been incredibly tough for her to find herself in such a circumstance, and only she knows what she was going through.
But he was also pleased and proud of her for not giving up and even trying new things.
Avita was not an online person, so hearing that she had begun to dabble in that field made him proud as the boyfriend.
"So, I was thinking about starting an online clothing and accessory business. If there is enough money, I can try to create a physical store and recruit people to work in it. I'll.................... what do you think?"
Patrick had been paying close attention when Avita was speaking, so he had a general idea of what she was saying.
What she was attempting to do differed from what he does in that he does not become intimately engaged with what he was selling; all he does is market the products and assist in the sale.
Avita intended to sell this clothing on her own, which meant there was a lot to accomplish and a lot of money needed.
"I think it's fine. Although we have never done business together, I believe in you and know you can succeed!" He responded with a smile.
Patrick didn't want to ruin Avita's dream, even if he was skeptical that she would be able to make it. She was in a vulnerable state, and if he added salt to the wound at this point, he could end up sleeping in the living room for an extended period.
Avita scoffed inwardly at her boyfriend, ‘So what if you don't believe me either? I intend to astound you and the rest of the world.'
After all, Avita had thought of everything in the last several days, and as long as Patrick was on board, most of her worries would be solved.
"All right, baby. What do you expect from me in order for this to happen?" Patrick inquired about the obvious.
After all, he was completely aware of what was required and only needed confirmation.
"I was planning on going to Botswana first because it is the closest and cheapest option, whether by plane or bus. I intend to concentrate my efforts on women and children. I've heard that they sell new goods at a reasonable price. When I need secondhand clothing, I will go to other stores."
"Alright, I see you've done your homework. So, how much money do you have?" He didn't want to ask too many questions, but he did want to know the big picture.
When Avita heard this, she did another victory dance in her head and replied honestly, "I have OWD 8,000 with me that I can use, and I was hoping that you could lend me some money."
Patrick was aware of what was to come, but he was relieved that she had some savings with her. They didn't discuss much about how much money they were saving as a pair, but hearing that she had that much made him quite proud of her.
Avita didn't make much money in a month.
She used to make OWD 2,000 in less than a year, and even less before that. She would contribute about OWD 1,000 each month, including electricity and groceries.
The employer used to pay for burial plans and such, but now that she is no longer employed there, another item has been added to the list.
In other words, Avita didn't have much left after paying all her expenses and such, thus hearing how much she had at the moment was rather surprising.
"How much money do you want?"
Even after sending some money back home, he has a lot of savings. And he wouldn't be stingy with her now that she was in need of assistance.
They were already shackled to each other for all eternity.
"I need OWD 5,000. I believe that with what I have and this, I will be able to purchase a stock that will endure for some time."
Patrick conducted some calculations and determined that the figures were correct, so he said, "Sure. I'll prepare the funds. When do you intend to depart?"
Avita hadn't considered it since she needed to get the money, she needed first, and now that Patrick was willing to lend her a hand, it was time for her to consider it.
"I'll see what dates are available first, but it should be next week. The sooner I get started, the better."
Patrick bowed his head as he mentally calculated, "Okay, I will transfer the money to you."
With her purpose accomplished, Avita warmed up to Patrick again, and Patrick, who had nearly slept outside, was relieved.
It wasn't like he couldn't get his money back. Avita always paid her debts on time, and he trusted her.
When the two were ultimately reunited, they became peaceful as well. Without doing much, the two slept in each other's embrace.
Avita awoke the next morning, made a hearty breakfast, packed a lunch box for Patrick, and sent him to work.
With him gone and no need to disguise her unemployment, Avita didn't have to be concerned about anything.
Avita did not visit the salon. The business was slow at the moment, and the days she went without seeing a customer cost her money, which she didn't want to risk.
So, unless one of her regular customers called her, she decided to put this job on hold.
Avita started writing down her plans for her new business at home.
She recognized what she needed initially in order to run a proper business.
To sell, she needed to obtain a trading license, register with the tax agency, create an online store, or locate a physical store.
To be safe, she decided to add something extra, which was to register a company. At the very least, if something goes wrong in the future, the company will be accountable for all company-related concerns and her personal money will be unaffected.
It was simple to set up and run a business. Secretarial services were one of the services given when I worked at an accounting business.
It also didn't hurt to become a boss.
