Chapter 112 - Field Trip [4]

Crash!

Clack!

Bsh!

Ailza cut through the dungeon's enemy like butter, from left to right.

"You know, I'm pretty sure this is supposed to be a team effort," Julian noted, out loud.

"It is a team effort!" Beo yelled out. He and Jurizah had indeed been fighting as well, taking out the monsters. It was only him that had not been doing anything.

'To be fair, I didn't even have the chance to get a hit in. I'm only a normal human.'

"Where did… Eudora go?" Beo suddenly noticed.

"Strange. But, I'm sure she can hold on her own. We have to look for the dungeon's source of energy."

[Cast: Flashstep]

The whole group moved through the dungeon, along with Julian. He lagged behind, just slightly.

Ailza picked up on this.

"Julian, what is that technique you're using? I couldn't trace any mana off it?"

"That's because… I wasn't using mana."

"You can move that fast as a human without the application of mana…?"

Julian nodded.

'How come I've never heard of this guy? His strength couldn't be compared to Gervem's, but it is definitely unordinary for a human of his age…'

The dungeon was mostly filled with strangely shaped hallways and some large spots. The walls were made of this kind of dark blue brick, and the air was incredibly moist.

You couldn't see from too far away either, as there was a dark blue mist covering the whole dungeon.

Suddenly, through that haze, a spear shot through the air, blowing that mist away.

Swsh!

Julian ducked as fast as possible.

[Cast: Earth Pillar]

Jurizah stomped, sending a pillar of brick to block the strike.

Ailza pulled the spear out. "With an attack that strong, we must be getting closer to the dungeon core."

The spear flew out of Ailza's hand, returning to its sender.

Now that the mist was clear, it was possible to see.

The wielder of the spear was a mummy of the sort. His bandages were slipping off, and under it, you could see the decaying, bluish skin.

Ailza took her two daggers out.

"This isn't gonna be as easy as all the other things we've gone against."

"Obviously," Beo groaned.

Beo took his great sword out.

Julian blurted "Don't rush into it blindly. Especially in a narrow hallway like this-"

"There are advantages to fighting in a narrow hallway like this," Beo mentioned.

The mummy let out a stifled groan. With one step, he reached the squad.

Slsh!

He swung his spear at Julian, in the front.

"Ack!-"

Quickly, he evaded, moving to the side.

"Beo!" Julian yelled.

[Cast: Electric Palm]

Beo dashed, his fingertips crackling with lightning. He thrusted, extending his elbow.

The mummy dodged the attack, moving almost like a contortionist. He planted his stick down, using it as a pole.

Quickly, he stepped on the wall, performing a spin kick.

Crck!

A direct hit. He swiped his foot across Beo's face, sending him back.

"This... creature is far more agile and strange than I anticipated," Ailza said.

"We have to make some space!" Jurizah yelled.

"Or, we can find some."

[Cast: Wind Burst]

Ailza stuck her hand out, shooting a heavy gust of wind forward. It sent the mummy flying back.

"Come on, guys! At the end of the hallway, there might be a larger space!"

[Cast: Gale Force]

Gusts of wind started surrounding her body. In an instant, she became a lot faster than she already was.

The other three followed behind her, entering a larger room inside the dungeon.

The mummy stood there, holding onto its spear.

. . .

. .

.

[Cast: Flame Territory]

[Flame Territory] was a cast that could be learned by anybody. It raised the temperature of the area it was cast in. Normally, it would be used to amplify other flame-based [casts].

But in this case, it was so hot, that the ground was starting to set ablaze!

"It's really getting hot here, huh?" Cherva laughed.

Gervem and Arum both clenched their jaws.

With fire all around, Gervem and Arum were at a disadvantage. But they were also at a number advantage.

"If only I had my weapon..." Gervem grumbled. "I'll have to improvise."

He wrapped his arms around the nearest tree, pulling it out of the ground. Arum looked in awe.

"You're… kidding."

Cherva had an even more excited expression, seeing the boy's strength. After all, pulling a tree out from its roots was not a simple task after all.

"Such a big weapon! It might pack a punch, but how long do you think it'll last?" Cherva asked.

Arum and Gervem dashed at Cherva together.

Cherva put down his sword.

[Cast: Burning Spear]

In Cherva's palm, a spear of pure fire appeared. He gripped it tightly.

[Cast: Blue Flames]

The color switched from a dark red to a deep blue, burning brightly.

"Come on! Let's see how you guys fair against this!"

Swsh!

Gervem swung, the momentum spinning him around along with the tree.

Cherva evaded the tree's swinging, jumping over it.

"Way too slow!" Cherva yelled.

Crk!

Arum leaped into the air, at the same height as Cherva.

[Cast: Venemous Sting]

With Cherva being in the air, he couldn't exactly evade the attack. Arum plunged his sword into Cherva's chest, with this green kind of energy following the blade.

Cherva pushed Arum off, the two of them falling down.

Cherva landed roughly, though Gervem was able to catch Arum.

"I used my [Venemous Sting] cast on you. Venom so potent, it could kill 10 adults."

Arum spoke with a proud kind of tone. Even in this kind of situation, he still managed to keep his head high, maintaining that image as the "strongest."

But faced with an opponent like this, could he possibly keep it up? Would his mentality shatter?

"Ten adults? Well... all I feel is a little sluggish. Don't tell me this is your strongest move?" Cherva said, with an almost mocking chuckle.

Arum clenched his jaw.

Cherva pulled his arm back, throwing the burning spear.
