It fell silent. It was always silent, deep down in the dungeons of Gonteno. Keon sat there, his hands shackled above his head, with a chain holding him from the dungeon ceiling.
All he could do was mutter.
"Arlene... Arlene... Arlene."
He spewed nonsense. It was pretty quiet, though. None of his cellmates could hear him in the dungeon.
"Jeez. This is the craziest bastard of them all, right?"
The muffled footsteps of a man could be heard. They were light yet slow, so it must've been from the younger man, taking his time.
It was dark in the dungeon, very dimly lit. There was only a single fire in the middle of the hallway that separated all the other cellars. So there was almost no way for Keon to tell who it was.
"Who... who are you?" Keon spoke very faintly, to the degree where it seemed he wasn't speaking at all. It was more like he was simply moving his lips.
In fact, with the way he said it, it really didn't even sound like a question. More like a statement.
"It's me, Keon. I'm here to save you from this pitiful way of living."
The voice sounded like a man's voice. One around the same age as Keon.
"Arlene.... have you seen her?"
Keon was trying to reach into his pocket to see if he had more papers. But he couldn't reach it.
"If that elf girl caught her, then she's probably being experimented on."
"..."
"Have you lost hope yet? I've been looking for you, Keon. You have what's necessary."
"..."
"That essence... there's something special about you."
"..."
"If you want to save Arlene. If you want to eliminate those who wronged you. The only right choice is to join me."
The man stretched his hand out, through Keon's bars.
