Chapter 78 - A Similar

"Who's this kid, Isalda?"

Oscar stood nervously, his hands at his side. It was like he was in the military, all over again. In front of him, was a mysterious man.

His hair was curly and white, though tied up at the moment. A tan-skinned man, with dark black eyes. Despite the overall graceful appearance, he still had a… scary aura.

He had a similar accent to Oscar's, however. That was a little comforting to the boy.

"He's a kid with an ability strikingly similar to yours. Oscar, this is Jisvo. Jisvo, this is Oscar."

Jisvo looked Oscar up and down, before speaking. "Well, kid. Let me see that ability of yours."

Isalda chimed in. "Well, that's the thing. He doesn't have… control over it. So I need you to train him up before the coronation starts."

Jisvo paused for a second. He got up from the tree stump she was sitting on.

[Cast: Thunder Daimon]

Jisvo's eyebrows slanted, forcing her into an aggressive face. Lightning crackled around him. Oscar looked in awe.

"An ability that gives us better control over our element than others. A gift from god."

"So… there's multiple people like us?"

"Not likely. You're the only person I know with this ability, besides myself and my father. Now, no more questions."

Jisvo dashed at Oscar. He ducked, dodging the sudden attack.

[Cast: Keruanos]

A bolt of lightning appeared in Jisvo's hand. It was sporadic, and anything but still.

'Come on, Oscar! Activate! Do you think you can dodge a lightning bolt?'

Crack!

It flew through the air. Oscar narrowly evaded, rolling onto the ground.

'Huh. I guess I can.'

"Come on, Oscar! You can do it!" Isalda cupped her hands, yelling out.

Oscar got up. Not because Isalda motivated him.

[Cast: Lightspeed Flashstep]

Jisvo moved from side to side, at the same speed as the lightning bolt he previously threw, maybe even faster.

He threw a punch, charged with lightning. A direct hit!

"Keuk!-"

He flew into several trees, stopping at the fifth one.

"Jisvo! Are you crazy? You can't just-"

"Have more faith in the guy. He managed to hold up against the Iron Vanguard captain, right?"

Isalda stayed silent, considering that fact.

The leaves on the trees froze. Oscar's skin became pale, though ice didn't form in his hair.

Jisvo smirked.

"Jeez. I can finally get a little bit more serious."

..

.

"Ow, ow, ow!" Oscar whined as the ice was applied to his wounds.

"Quit whining! There aren't any healers around where I live, so you'll have to deal with this."

Jisvo pushed the ice pack onto Oscar's wounds. Not gently.

"I thought you would at least put up a fight…"

"When I enter that state, it feels like… it's me, but at the same time, it isn't. I don't have full knowledge, but I feel more powerful."

"You have to tame your power!"

"Eh!"

"You know why our abilities are so strong?"

"Ehm… no?"

Jisvo sighed.

"It's not exactly, our power. We were born with mana so strong, that it became its own… self. Do you understand?"

"Yeah. Continue."

"Right now, you aren't synchronized with yourself, or, your mana. You'll need to synchronize with your mana, in order to have better control."

"Okay… I see. Can you tell me more about this whole, element thing?"

"There's three stages. The first form is the one I just used. It'll give you a bit of a boost and better control with your element."

"..."

"The second stage is a greater form. It gives you access to more casts, along with increasing your affinity to your element."

"…"

"The third stage, the strongest, gives you absolute control over your element."

"I have a question."

Jiszo sighed, before quickly responding, or rather hissing back. "What is it?"

"Is the first… awakening always at the first stage?"

"Yeah, usually. Why, did your first awakening start at a later stage?"

"I think… I started at stage 2. My second awakening was stage 2 as well, but this one was the first stage."

"There must be some variables that I'm unaware of, I suppose."

Jisvo got up from the grass he was lying in. She scratched her back. Oscar looked up at him.

"Ah, right! One more question!" Oscar blurted.

Jisvo turned around.

"Hm?"

"When will I learn the name of my… ability?"

"When it reveals itself to you."

'So ominous for no reason..' Oscar thought.
