Chapter 73 - Keon

"Come on, Arlene. Reel it in."

Keon watched as Arlene struggled to pull the fish in.

"Hrgh!" she struggled as she pulled the fishing rod. The dirt slid, as she got closer and closer to the water.

She finally managed to pull the fish out. A large carp flew into the air, landing on the grass. It wiggled a little bit, before stopping.

"This is giving me... deja vu."

Keon scratched his head. Arlene laughed, trying to pick the carp up. She still struggled.

"Deja vu? What're you talking about?" she spoke.

"I had a dream about... fishing a large, glowing, rainbow carp. Actually, was it a dream? I feel as if it was real life."

Arlene laughed.

"What's so... funny?"

"Think fast!" she yelled, throwing the large fish at Keon.

Without thinking, he unsheathed his sword, slicing the fish up in the air. Arlene's smile dropped.

"What kinda weirdo brings a sword while fishing..?"

Keon followed up with his attack by catching all the sliced pieces.

"It's instinct."

. . .

. .

.

Arlene held her hands above the fire, while Keon held the stick of fish above the fire.

"How's that job at the coffee shop?" Arlene asked.

"It's going fine. The people you meet there are peculiar. What about your healing ability, is it getting better?"

"I think so. I can heal an animal 5 times before passing out."

"Where are you finding all these injured animals?"

"Orcs are surprisingly sadistic..." Arlene shuddered.

"Here."

Keon stuck his hand out, offering the fish to Arlene. She bit off a piece.

"Are you a barbarian? Why are you eating like that?" he scowled.

Arlene didn't say anything and kept on chewing until she finally swallowed.

"That parry ability of yours. How is it?"

"The stronger the attack is, the more effort it'll take for me to parry it. But, I'm getting better with it."

Keon also took a bite out of the stick of fish. Arlene glared.

"What are you looking at?"

"Nothing."
