Chapter 63 - Oscar vs The Captain

Oscar's expression was indescribable. It was still setting in, for sure. The fact that Aithlin was dead.

"You're next, Romeo."

Kibim walked over to Romeo. He struggled to get out of the webs, but in the end, he met the same fate as Aithlin.

"It's a shame I had to kill that old elf. I was only supposed to kill the king."

"You bastard."

It finally settled in.

[Cast: ???]

Ice began to cover his body, starting from his feet.

"Did this guy... fossilize himself, or something? Eh. It doesn't matter."

Kibim raised his sword, about to swing it. The ice shattered, the shards flying all over the place. Snow began to fall. No, hail began to fall.

Oscar looked a lot paler. Deathly pale. His skin was white. There was ice in his hair, shards along his skin, and his light blue eyes became more... beautiful, perhaps.

Out of his back, sprouted two wings, made of ice. A cold mist appeared.

"What a funny guy. He's back for round-"

Oscar flapped his wings. Icicles flew in Kibim's direction.

Kibim deflected each icicle, with relative ease. He flickered. In an instant, he was in front of Oscar.

Swsh!

He sliced at Oscar. Oscar moved to the side, avoiding it.

Again, Kibim sliced. Again, Oscar dodged.

"You've gotten faster-"

Oscar kicked Kibim, sending him to the ground.

"!-"

Kibim kicked up into the air, to recover from the sudden attack. This was an error, as Oscar was quick to grab his leg, dangling him.

Kibim struggled, his expression being one of frustration.

"L-Let go of me, damn it!"

[Cast: Chilled Halberd]

Oscar stretched his open hand out. From thin air, a halberd made of clear ice formed in his hand, almost crystal-like.

Kibim continued to struggle until he finally broke free.

"Quit squirming, you worm."

Oscar glared down at Kibim on the floor. A wave of intimidation and fear blew through Kibim. For the first time.

Nonetheless, he got back up.

In the blink of an eye, Oscar cleared the distance between Kibim and himself.

[Cast: Advanced Frostfire Slash]

A cut so fast, it nearly cut through the air. A large gust soared through the air, so strong, the leaves were blown off the branches, and the trees were almost uprooted.

Nearly half of the forest.

Kibim just narrowly avoided it. If he had been a nanosecond late, no, a femtosecond, that would've been his execution.

The fear started to settle in.

How could the attack have upgraded so much?

Oscar dropped his halberd down vertically, striking Kibim in his shoulder. His skin was thick enough for the halberd to not pierce him, but the force was intense.

It sent Kibim into the ground, shattering the earth. A tremor was felt. All the leaves in the area fell.

"Gah!-"

Kibim wailed in pain, gripping onto his shoulder.

"It's a shame that your skin is so thick. It'll take a lot more hits to finish you then, right?"

"H-Huh?-"

Oscar swung his halberd yet again into Kibim's chest. Despite it being a sharp object, it worked like a blunt one.

"Kyu!-"

"Why are you so weak all of a sudden?"

Kibim rolled to the side, to avoid the strikes. He quickly recovered, heavily injured.

"This next cut, it'll take your head."

Kibim saw it from the corner of his eyes. Death.

Then, the adrenaline came in.

Kibim took out his sword and clashed with Oscar. Sparks flew.

Kibim came in for a low strike, using the momentum. Oscar blocked it, sending his arm into the air.

"!"

Kibim was open. If he didn't raise his guard down again, his bowels would spill out onto the floor.

He brought the sword down, fast enough.

"Did you forget?"

Horizontally, he swung.

It traveled toward Kibim's neck, at an alarming speed.

Pitter-patter.

The ice melted, and Oscar collapsed. The ice in his hair melted as well, and the color of his skin was starting to come back.

Kibim had fallen to the floor, his knees no longer able to support his weight.

"I... I... I survived!" he panted. He quickly got up and picked up his sword.

"I-I have to finish him off!"

His hands shook as he desperately attempted to grab his sword.

"Stand down, usurper."

In front of him, the woman pointed her rapier at him. Isalda van Mahaut stood in front of him.
