The brothers took Julian to an orphanage.
"This is where you guys live?" Julian asked.
"Obviously. I'm Rar. My red-haired brother here is Sodror. I'll take you to the medic."
Julian was laid on a hospital bed.
"Let's see..."
An old man entered the room. He wore the attire of a doctor, gloves and all. He approached Julian, tightening his gloves.

"It... tickles."
"Wow! I'm surprised you can even move! All of your ribs are shattered and most of the bones in your left leg are broken, too!" the doctor exclaimed.
"Really? I barely even... felt it!" Julian lied.
"The healing might take a bit because of the severity. So sit still, young man."
[Cast: Heal]
A green aura glowed as the man pressed his hands on Julian's body. It took a long time, but eventually, Julian started to feel better.
"Thanks!" Julian said.
"I'll give you a physical soon. To see your physical capabilities."

"Why are there so many other people here?" Julian asked the doctor.
"I have to average out the physical capability of this orphanage every year so that I can send it out to the capital."
"What's the point of that?" Julian questioned.
"Some kids might be scouted to become knights of the kingdom."
"I see..."
The physical consisted of several different activities such as a 100-meter dash, a pull-up test, and stretches like that. Julian failed horribly.
"There's always a next time, huh?" Sodror patted Julian's back, comforting him.
"You can say something like that! You got perfect scores on everything!" Julian whined.
"Don't say I didn't try to comfort you."
Sodror walked off, leaving Julian to sulk. Julian wailed with his hands over his face.
"There's always next year, isn't there?"
"H-Huh...?"
Julian turned his head to find where the soft voice was coming from. It was a pretty girl. She had long blonde hair and sharp ears, like an elf. Her eyes were green and her smile was bright.
"What's your name?" she asked. Julian tripped on his words until he could finally answer.
"J-Julian! My name is Julian!" he finally answered.
"Nice to meet you, Julian. I'm Lyrei. You shouldn't be so discouraged. After all, there's always next year."
"Yeah... you're right, Lyrei."
"I'll see you later, alright, Julian?"
"A-Alright!"
She smiled and walked off. Julian sat there, placing his hand on his chest. His heart was beating so fast. He was lost in thought until he felt a hard smack on his head.
"Don't get too infatuated, Julian. She isn't on your level!" Rar said, preparing for a second hit. Julian raised his hands to defend himself.
"Jeez! I didn't even say I was gonna do anything!" Julian whined, standing up.
"I can see it in your eyes. Lyrei is a beauty! She'll be mine, of course."
"Right. I may not have much of a chance, but an aggressive monster like you has much of a lesser chance than me."
"Aw, shut it!" Rar grabbed Julian's collar.
"You're proving my point!" Julian yelled. Rar sighed, dropping Julian. He spit onto the ground, walking away with his hands in his pocket.
"What a grumpy guy, huh?" Saldair approached Julian, pulling him up.
"Yeah. I have no idea what his problem is. I guess he's just like that."
"I can't talk to you much today. So I'll see you tomorrow, alright?" Saldair said.
"Yeah, alright. That's fine."
A loud growl could be heard. Julian and Saldair turned around. The creature that was running at them was an orc. Large and green, with bulging muscles. You could easily identify it. But what was it doing in a village?
"Julain, duck!" Saldair yelled. Julian snapped back into reality, ducking. His attempt to evade was futile, though. The strike from the orc sent him flying into a tree.
Saldair was about to be next. But, Rar appeared just in time.
"Saldair! Did I come here in time?" He asked.
"Focus on the damn orc!"
[Cast: Shadow Arms]
Rar sprinted around the orc, as arms started to rise from the ground. They wrapped around the orc.
[Cast: Shadow Slash]
Rar ran towards the orc, cutting its head off with his hands alone.
"Ah! That's record time, isn't it? My fastest orc kill!" Rar exclaimed, jumping up and down.
"That's not the point! We have to check on Julian!" Saldair said, running over towards Julian.
"It hurts..."
Julian laid on his back, panting.
"Wake up!" Rar slapped Julian's cheek.
"I'm awake!" Julian groaned, slowly getting up. "I feel like... every part of my body is screaming."
"Stop whining. You haven't been hit by an orc before, or something?" Rar pushed his complaints to the side.
"Everyone around me is so much stronger than me... this isn't fair."
"I told you to stop whining! If you're so mad about being weak, then get stronger! It's simple as that!" Rar yelled.
At that moment, Julian wanted to strangle Rar. He didn't understand at all. It was his development speed. Julian had half the development speed of the average person. To add onto that, he had no cast.
This world was... cruel to him. All he could do was feel Envy.
"Stand up, Julian. We'll take you to the medic."
"I can't."
"What do you mean you can't?!" Rar yelled.
"My legs. I can't feel them."
. . . . .
. . . .

.
"This is probably the most severe injury I've seen in a while, Julian. If your body was any stronger, this wouldn't have happened..."
"Doctor, what's the problem?" Julian asked, with fear and worry in his voice.
"You won't be able to use your legs. For a long time."
