Both Agent Eris and Kirf had distanced themselves from Alex after realizing that the killing intent he unleashed had become even harder for them to handle.
Agent Eris inquired, "Sir, what is happening?"
Agent Kirf took his attention off from Agent Silas and pondered the situation, trying to find a plausible explanation. He then asked Agent Eris, "You are the one who recruited him, did he use the corruption drug?"
Agent Eris wondered. She knew she had given a corruption drug when she recruited Alex to the BW, but she couldn't be certain if he had actually used it. Thus, she replied honestly, "I don't know, sir. I gave him a corruption drug, but I can't be sure if he used it or not."
Agent Kirf nodded his head and speculated, "If he used a corruption drug," Agent Kirf pointed towards Agent Silas and continued, "this reaction could be the result of the drug."
Agent Eris inquired, "What do you mean, sir?"
Agent Kirf explained in simple terms, "This excessive killing intent is an early sign of corruption taking hold," then unsheathed his sword and added, "We must be prepared in case it comes to that."
Agent Kirf explained the situation to Agent Eris, and as he did, Agent Eris started to feel anxious. She prepared herself, taking out her weapon.
'We haven't had enough fun, Alex. Don't you dare die on me,' Agent Eris thought.
As they readied themselves, suddenly, the amount of killing intent in the room reached its peak, causing the walls and floors to crumble due to the pressure Alex was exerting.
"He's becoming unstable; protect yourself!" Agent Kirf commanded.
They both assumed defensive stances and covered themselves in a protective aura to counteract the pressure Alex was releasing.
Then they heard Alex start to mumble some incoherent lullaby, and they looked at each other quizzically.
"Do you understand what he's saying, sir?" Agent Eris asked.
"No, but from what I can decipher, it seems to resemble an ancient language," Agent Kirf speculated.
Both of them had a million questions in their minds about this unusual situation, but the only thing they cared about was hoping it wouldn't turn into a corrupted case.
'I don't want to wait for headquarters to appoint another agent,' Agent Kirf lamented internally, while Agent Eris felt anger growing within herself with each passing moment. She felt like a child who is about to lose her favorite toy.
When Alex stopped murmuring lullabies, they suddenly felt all the pressure and killing intent stop abruptly, and saw Alex waking up. Both of them let out an eased sigh.
Alex woke up in the same familiar torture room, and for a moment, he couldn't discern whether he was still in that dream as a child or if he was an adult.
He only became sure this was not a dream after seeing Agent Kirf and Agent Eris.
A bitter laugh escaped Alex's lips, as he mused, 'Honestly, I'm not sure which reality I'd prefer - that creepy dream or this awful reality.'
'I guess I don't have the right to choose,' Alex lamented, falling into a daze as he pondered, 'What the hell was that?'
'I'm pretty sure that child was me,' Alex guessed to himself.
'But Harold is not my father.' Alex couldn't understand his own dream. 'And even if that dream were true, why don't I remember anything about it?'
Alex started to lose his trust in himself, so he checked his memories again. 'From the moment I knew myself, my father has always been Dr. John Gray, and I don't have any mother either.'
Alex couldn't comprehend anything. The situation baffled him. Suddenly, he felt like his own world had changed; the memories he had before turned out to be lies.
Desperately, Alex tried to come up with an explanation to make sense of it all, asked himself repeatedly, 'Just what happened to me in childhood that everything I thought I knew turned out to be a lie?'
Alex then recalled the circle he had seen in his dream. 'What was that?' he questioned. 'It looked similar to the runes of this world,' Alex contemplated.
'Harold had mentioned that the ritual, that circle, would help me grow my soul power and then assist me in opening up some kind of portal,' Alex thought, 'that would bring back my so-called mother, a mother that I don't remember having.'
With each passing moment as he thought about his forgotten childhood dream, he became more confused. So, he considered another aspect of the situation and asked himself, 'Did my soul power and potential increase in my childhood?'
Alex guessed, 'Is it because of that, I transmigrated to this world and have two innate abilities?' but he still couldn't be sure.
'I didn't measure my potential in this world,' Alex suddenly recalled that there were devices in this world that would help people measure their potential to find out which rank they could reach.
Alex knew that the original Alex's potential was only E-rank; that's why he thought his potential would be the same as well.
However, after realizing Silas had reached the S or higher ranks in TOC he had some suspicions about the matter and planned to measure his own potential to clarify the confusion in his head. But he didn't prioritize this matter much, thinking he could always measure his potential at the academy.
'Once I return to the academy, I should measure my potential,' Alex decided because it was the only way to confirm whether the dream was really true and the events that happened in his dream had actually occurred.
