Chapter 11 - Combat Class

They reached the combat class, and Alex saw that the structure of the class had been modified to resemble a modern-type Roman arena.

In the middle, there were multiple arenas built side by side, and on the outer part, there were seats structured like stairs, creating a nostalgic Roman colosseum.

Alex noticed that most of the students had already arrived and were busy with a device. He watched as a student typed something on the device, and afterwards, he saw the device open up like a closet, presenting the student with a sword.

"What are you looking at? Let's go and grab our weapons before the professor arrives," Max said.

Then they headed to the empty devices, and Alex saw all of them retrieving their weapons. Alice had chosen a bow, Max a staff, Milo a shield and sword, while Neil had chosen a gun.

Alex looked at Neil interestedly and thought, 'Apart from Neil, others use usual types of weapons.'

Seeing Alex looking at him, Neil spoke. "I know guns usually aren't preferred by hunters, but it's suitable for my innate ability."

Alex had become a little curious about his innate ability, but he knew better than to ask about such a thing in this world. Most people were hiding their innate abilities because they were mostly trump cards.

Alex then began typing on the device, and the device welcomed him with a screen.

[World Hunter Academy]

[Class: 1-101]

[Name: Alex Hart]

[Rank: 354]

[Weapon: Sword]

Upon seeing the screen, Alex noticed the buttons allowing him to either retrieve his saved weapon or change it. He tapped the "change weapon" button and proceeded to modify the weapon section according to his preferences.

After Alex received his weapon, he could see the shocked expressions of the nearby people.

Alex had chosen chains as his main weapon after considering it thoroughly.

'Unlike the original Alex, I did not receive any training in the path of the sword from childhood,' he thought.

That's why Alex wasn't even certain if he would be able to wield a sword effectively had he chosen it as his main weapon.

The sword practitioners were mostly people who had dedicated their whole lives to the path of the sword.

Alex wasn't arrogant enough to think that a person who transmigrated from Earth, a place where people didn't use cold weapons in their daily lives, like him, could achieve the same mastery in swordsmanship magically just because he transmigrated into a fantasy novel.

As for the reason why he had chosen chains as his main weapon, Alex answered in his mind, 'If there is something that I can say I am good at, it would be the popular game from Earth called League of Heroes. In the game, his main character used chains, which is why he chose chains.'

Alex wasn't thinking that he would be good at using chains just because he played a game on Earth. However, after spending hours playing the game with a character who used chains, Alex became a fan of the weapon.

That's why Alex reached this conclusion: 'If I am going to use a weapon, why not chains?'

After receiving a pair of long chains, Alex wrapped them around his arm and felt like a game character.

"Bro, I thought you were using a sword," Neil inquired.

"I tried the sword, but it never quite felt right for me," Alex replied.

"So, you're saying you're more of a chain person?" Max questioned.

"Exactly! Why not?" Alex nonchalantly responded, as if it were the most natural thing in the world.

"And I thought only Neil was weird. Seriously, bro, chains?" Max added, giving both Neil and Alex a bewildered expression, unable to decide who was the stranger of the two.

"Why do I feel like something's off with their discussion?" Milo whispered to Alice.

"You're not alone, dear," Alice replied.

Afterward, they all made their way to their seats, setting aside the issue of weapons. As Alex walked with chains wrapped around his arm, a sudden realization struck him – the name of the game character.

Alex came to a halt, his body frozen, as he pondered, 'Isn't the name of the game character remarkably similar to my BW agent code name, 'Silas'?'

Milo glanced back and noticed Alex standing still, wearing a shocked expression. "What's wrong?" he inquired.

"Oh, it's nothing. I just recalled something," Alex responded, shaking off his momentary daze, and resumed walking.

'Is this just a coincidence?' Alex wondered, his thoughts swirling in his mind.

'And just now I chose chains as my main weapon, just like the game character,' Alex felt like he was walking on a path that had been predestined.

Alex wasn't a superstitious person, but even he himself felt that these coincidences were too much.

'Am I knowingly or unknowingly heading towards an inevitable end that I can't escape?' Alex was lost in his thoughts until he overheard a conversation.

"Lisa, you don't need to participate in individual duels," Frank stated with his usual stoic expression.

Observing Lisa's reluctance, Frank added, "You are a supportive type of hunter. Your only strong aspect is your innate ability, Barrier."

"So what if I am a support-type hunter? I could still fight," Lisa retorted, challenging Frank. "Are you implying that I'm weak?"

Frank vehemently denied and added, "I know your Barrier is powerful, and I know you are strong, but..."

Seeing Frank abruptly stop continuing his words, Lisa nudged him. "But?"

"I simply can't bear to witness someone trying to harm you," Frank confessed, his voice accompanied by a cough.

As Alex observed the interaction between Lisa and Frank, memories of Silas' actions flooded his mind, leaving him feeling hopelessly trapped in the impending crossroads.

He couldn't help but wonder, 'Are they also converging on my path, forcing me to face a fate I can't evade?'

"After seeing them, don't you think our lovely couple is more bearable to watch?" Max said to Neil, pointing at Frank and Lisa.

"Yes, thankfully Alice and Milo aren't that cringe," Neil responded.

Alice, with a smile on her face, she asked Alex, "How do you feel after seeing one couple after another, especially after being rejected?"

Alex responded with a nonchalant tone, "Not enough to make me want to curse the whole world."

Just then, Alex caught sight of the professor entering the room, and in an instant, all the students halted their activities.
