Chapter 4 - Warning

He found Frank in some shabby bar, drinking to death and asking over and over to people, "Why can't I get drunk? Why do thoughts of her still haunt me? Wasn't it supposed to end if I drank enough? Why isn't it working?"

Silas just watched Frank until he was alone. After seeing an opportunity, he sat next to him and said, looking into his eyes, "Do you truly wish to forget her?"

Silas saw Frank turn to him, listening attentively. "The reason why you can't forget her is because the person who caused Lisa's death is still out there."

Silas inquired,"You know who that person is. Don't you want to kill him?" In that instant, Frank seemed to reawaken, as if finding a newfound purpose in his life, despite having lost everything.

After finishing the story, Silas looked toward Damien and said, "So, he couldn't avenge Lisa after all," and sighed, "What a pity."

Silas didn't know what he thought was a pity. Frank couldn't kill Damien or take revenge for Lisa and kill Silas himself. And he didn't want to think about it.

Damien's heart pounded as he learned the truth. Silas, the very person responsible for Lisa's death and the mastermind behind Frank's actions, stood before him.

damien spoke, "Why did you do all of this?" while trying to close the distance between himself and Silas, After his third step, he saw Silas raising his hand again, so he stopped.

Silas calmly stated, "There's no need for aggression," observing Damien's reaction and promptly lowering his hand. "There, there, what a clever boy," he taunted with a hint of smugness.

Silas answered them after seeing they weren't acting out anymore, "I didn't do it willingly." Silas took a deep breath. "At least that's what I tell myself at nights."

Gathering his thoughts, Silas continued, "Every action I've taken since joining the organization has been a result of orders from headquarters."

As Silas glanced at them, he couldn't help but notice the lingering perception of him as some kind of monster.

Realizing this, Silas laughed, and said, "I'm not sure if you all believe it or not, but let me assure you that Lisa, Frank, and this battle are far from the most dreadful missions I've undertaken during my years as an agent."

Amelia said, "If you didn't want to be involved in any of this, why did you join this organization? If what you're saying is true, you would have left a long time ago."

Amelia snorted after seeing Silas remain silent and continued, "Don't think you can deceive us with this feeble act."

Silas replied, "Sometimes in life, we don't always have the luxury of choice. My connection to the organization is one such circumstance."

Silas still saw that they didn't believe him, so he just dropped the subject while thinking, 'If you had seen the person beneath this mask, I wonder if you guys would still be so sure.'

Joining the conversation, Kevin asked, "So why don't you just leave the organization? You can come with us. We will protect you, and if you provide us with all the information about your organization, we could lessen your punishment in the World Justice Association."

Silas looked at Kevin as if he were some kind of fool and said, "Do you think anyone can escape from the organization? Don't mix the Blightweavers organization with third-rate black market organizations."

Silas felt a surge of fear resurface at the mere thought of escaping and continued "According to rumors circulating within the organization, we even have agents in the High Council."

Silas noticed their demeanor finally shift to seriousness after mentioning the High Council.

"The organization is the dark underbelly of this society. Not many people know about its power and existence, and you guys are asking me to become an enemy of this organization." Silas laughed as if he had heard the funniest joke in his life.

Damien found it hard to believe the words coming from Silas. Could there truly exist such a powerful dark organization? In disbelief, Damien retorted, "You're lying."

Silas responded, "Ah, I understand how difficult it is to believe. But let me share a few of my missions with you all."

"Remember your first year at the academy, guys? The mid-term exam had an incident, right?" Silas inquired.

"That event was my first mission," Silas disclosed.

Kevin spoke with surprise, "That event wasn't an accident," and added, "but the academy announced it was an accident."

Silas calmly replied, "Naturally, they would insist it was an accident. After all, the world remains oblivious to the fact that dungeons can be manipulated."

Damien, visibly shocked, asked, "You can alter a dungeon?"

Silas replied, "How else do you think I managed to destroy the very dungeon where Lisa lost her life?"

Silas saw Damien finally connect all the dots, so he asked, "Now, do you all believe me when I say that this organization represents the dark side of our world?"

Silas received a report through his earpiece, "Sir Count, we are prepared to proceed."

Silas turned his gaze toward Damien, Amelia, and Kevin, and stated, "Regrettably, our time together has come to an end. I must depart."

Silas rose from his seat and turned, then added, "And let me not forget to mention that if any of you attempt to follow me, my subordinates in the city will open fire, even without the authorization to kill. They can render you incapacitated."

Silas offered a wave and departed, leaving his parting words, "Until we meet again, take care, my friends."

Just before departing, Silas remembered that this was the day he came into this world. "How could I forget it? I hope I'm not late."

Halting in his tracks, Silas took a deep breath and called out, "Alex, don't read novels while walking!" Silas waited anxiously, but nothing happened.

***

Alex was taken aback to find his name mentioned in the book and couldn't comprehend why such a paragraph existed. "Is this a mistake or some sort of promotional gimmick?"

Alex was just about to read the next paragraph when he heard a noise. "Young man, move away!" He looked up from his phone only to see a car crashing into him.

Silas thought, "It was worth a try."

Silas heard Amelia asking, "What are you talking about?"

Silas replied with a disappointed voice, "I just tried to save this world." He let out a sigh. "From the looks of it, it didn't work. I'm still here." With these words, he finally departed.
