Emi walked back home from college with a heavy heart, knowing that she needed her mother's permission to go on the trip to Inkara as her mother had instructed the college to inform her beforehand on any such event. She knew the professor is gonna ask her whether her mom had agreed or not and if not then they are not gonna allow her to go on the college trip. She wasn't sure if her mother, Miss Chen, would allow her to go as she was always overprotective and didn't trust Emi's judgment.
When she reached home, she found her stepfather, Mr. Jackson, sitting in the living room. "Hey, Emi! How was college today?" he asked, noticing her sad demeanor.
"Same old, same old," Emi replied, shrugging her shoulders.
Mr. Jackson could sense that something was wrong. "Is everything okay?" he asked, concerned.
Emi sighed. "I need to ask my mom for permission to go on a college trip, but I don't think she'll let me go," she said, her voice low.
Mr. Jackson nodded sympathetically. "I understand. Your mom can be a bit overprotective at times," he said, trying to comfort her.
Emi's younger brother, Avi, entered the room and saw the sad expressions on their faces. "Hey, what's going on? Why does everyone look so gloomy?" he asked, trying to lighten the mood.
Emi explained the situation to him, and he immediately jumped in to help. "Don't worry, Emi. I'll talk to Mom and convince her to let you go on the trip. You know I'm good at convincing people," he said with a grin.
Emi smiled a little at her brother's enthusiasm. "Thanks, Avi. You're the best," she said, appreciating his support.
Meanwhile, Mr. Jackson was trying to persuade Miss Chen to let Emi go on the trip. "I think Emi deserves a chance to go on this trip. She's responsible and mature enough to handle herself," he said, trying to reason with her.
Miss Chen was hesitant, but Mr. Jackson persisted. "Come on, Miss Chen. Emi is growing up, and she needs to experience new things. She won't be a college student forever," he said, trying to make her understand.
After a few minutes of discussion, Miss Chen finally relented. "Okay, fine. Emi can go on the trip, but you have to make sure she's safe and responsible," she said, still hesitant but giving in.
Emi was happy and relieved. She thanked her family for their support and started packing for the trip.
