During the days spent in the hospital, Rosendo deliberately avoided Johanna, while Johanna tried various methods every day to catch Rosendo's attention.
Unknowingly, several days had passed. In fact, Johanna's cold had already healed long ago. The reason she didn't leave was because she wanted to spend more time with Rosendo.
Although Rosendo's cold hadn't completely recovered, it wasn't a big deal. He just needed to rest well when he returned home and would soon be fine.
Rosendo was discharged from the hospital, and Johanna left with him. At the moment they parted at the hospital entrance, Johanna kept turning back three times; she really couldn't bear to leave Rosendo behind. Tyson, her father, picked up Johanna and took her home while Rosendo rode his bike with Vanessa back to their place of residence.
After returning home, Rosendo resumed his business career. He appeared on New Mountain City University's student website where he attracted a large number of students who wanted to chat with him. It is best to advertise in bustling places like this one; given this opportunity, Rosendo naturally wouldn't let it slip away.
While chatting with others intentionally brought up his products during conversations. His strategy worked quite well as within a short period of time he sold twenty pieces of women's clothing; however no men bought any.
It had been a while since Rosendo went to Lytton for merchandise so this time he didn't plan on immediately delivering the goods to buyers after receiving them; instead he decided that once he got hold of them tomorrow morning he would personally deliver each item one by one into the hands of each buyer.
The next day after dropping off Vanessa at New Mountain City University by bike,Rosendo went to Lytton to pick up the merchandise.
Asusual,Rosendo temporarily stored the goods in the security room at the entrance of the university. In the security room,Rosendo pulled out a cigarand handed itto a burly man named Gus:"Gus, when I was in trouble some time ago, I accidentally ended up in your village of East Mountain.
Your father, Toland, happened to save me. He told me to help you make a fortune. So... do you want to do business with me?" Rosendo smiled at Gus.
"My father saved you? Are you serious? Is it really that coincidental? Our village of East Mountain is quite far from here." Gus seemed somewhat skeptical.
"I can't believe I ended up being washed away by the river and meeting your dad in the deep mountains. But that's how it happened. So, do you want to do business with me or not? If you do, help me with deliveries for now, and later on, I'll let you do more comfortable tasks," Rosendo patted Gus on the shoulder and said.
"Of course! Who wouldn't want to make money?" Gus happily replied. He had always admired Rosendo's business at New Mountain City University. Although he didn't know how much money Rosendo made in a day, he could tell from Rosendo's radiant smile and thriving business that it was quite profitable.
"From now on, you'll be responsible for delivering our goods. Let's start today! How about taking twenty percent of the profits?" Rosendo said seriously to Gus.
Giving Gus twenty percent was already generous; if the business went well, Gus could earn hundreds or even thousands of dollars a day. Since Gus hadn't invested anything, Rosendo treated him so well out of gratitude for Toland saving his life.
"Okay!" Gus exclaimed happily without knowing exactly how much twenty percent meant. If he knew that cooperating with Rosendo would allow him to earn hundreds or thousands of dollars a day, he would have been extremely excited.
He loved the job that Rosendo gave him because as a security patrol officer at the university campus, he got paid while strolling around all day long—now he could also run his own business during those walks—a double benefit.
After spending some time getting along with the security guards at New Mountain City University recently and with Gus joining them now, Rosendo decided to work in their security office as well. He took out a small notebook and attached each customer's address to their packaged items before letting Gus handle deliveries.
With a cigar in his mouth and his laptop open, Rosendo started doing business. There were several security guards beside him constantly flattering him.
Needless to say, they all wanted to cooperate with Rosendo just like Gus did. However, working and cooperating were not the same thing. Rosendo would only lose money if he collaborated with people who had no skills or connections unless he was willing to spend money on training them.
But for now, Rosendo wasn't that wealthy yet; he didn't have enough money to invest in developing others. He could offer them jobs, but at the moment, Rosendo didn't need more than that.
New Mountain University has a considerable number of faculty and students. However, after Rosendo's aggressive marketing efforts, the market for New Mountain University has reached saturation, and very few people are buying Rosendo's products anymore.
Business this morning was not good; in fact, it was quite poor as no items were sold. Despite not currently doing business, Rosendo possesses a business-mindedness. He quickly analyzed the situation and realized that the market at New Mountain University is temporarily saturated.
Therefore, Rosendo thought about engaging in other businesses. Novels seem to be popular among college students nowadays. With this idea in mind, Rosendo once again rode his bicycle away from New Mountain University.
Rosendo arrived at the bustling city center on his bicycle and stopped at a place where novels were being sold by street vendors. Pretending to be there to buy books, he flipped through several titles before finding an excuse to strike up a conversation with one of the vendors.
After chatting for a while, Rosendo took out the pack of cigarettes he had purchased and handed them over as a gesture of goodwill towards the vendor. The two sat together and talked about life.
The vendor was an elderly man who had been relying on himself due to having ungrateful children. He had been selling books at street stalls for over ten years now.
As he shared stories about his misfortunes with Rosendo—as if he were sharing his suffering—Rosendo continuously offered words of comfort.
At noon, Rosendo bought two fast food meals and ate together with the book vendor. His actions earned him the vendor's favor.
Therefore, when Rosendo sought advice on doing business, the vendor shared his experience with him—how to source products and what types of books are currently popular among people.
