Chapter 60 - Chapter 60: Discussing the dangers of Myrtle’s ball

"My grandmother and Rose might know about witchcraft and spells, but they don't know everything," Mishka responded to Gillian's statement.

"But, isn't that about as supernatural as you can go?" Gillian asked with a frown as she undressed.

"There are other unnatural things out there which are more physical than spiritual," Mishka responded as she began to dress into her dance clothes.

"Now, you've got me wondering and totally confused. What's physically unnatural? Are you talking about a ghost? Did a ghost or a demon possessed person follow you?" Gillian asked with her eyes stretched wide in suspense.

"It can't be a ghost. I don't think that it's at all necessary for a ghost to follow me in a car. It would have to happen at night, anyway. Now, this was in broad daylight on both occasions," Mishka responded.

"Then you must be talking about a crazy, possessed fan. Go talk to someone at church then, because your grandma and Rose most certainly can't exorcise anyone if they're delving into dark stuff themselves," Gillian responded as she began to move towards the door, fully dressed in her dance costume.

"It's good for her to think about it that way, because talking about werewolves and shape shifters is only going to unnerve her. I don't know how she will handle the fact that she has wolves as family as well," Mishka thought to herself as she quickly followed Gillian down the passage which led towards the dance studio.

As she danced and tried to follow the choreographer's instructions, Mishka wondered what she would do if her follower was the female white wolf from the woods.

"I will have to find out where she lives and have it out with her. I will have to gather the courage to ask Bruce about her outright. I don't have to worry about him finding out that I know about werewolves in today's world. If this woman is going to be a problem for me I will have to talk about it with him on Saturday," Mishka told herself as she danced.

After the class, Mishka was in the shower when she prepared herself for telling Gillian about Myrtle's invitation to an event which might be risky for innocent people to attend.

"I will just mention it outright and she can tell me what she thinks about it. Maybe I can ask her to accompany me for backup?" Mishka wondered to herself as she allowed the water to ease the stress from her body.

The dancing had helped her relax, but thinking about Saturday's event made her feel tense in her body again.

"Why am I discovering so many new facts about my life and my surroundings after I met Bruce in the forest?" she asked herself.

"I think it's since Joan opened my eyes to the fact that the unnatural world exists as much as the supernatural world exists," Mishka concluded to herself before stepping out of the shower with her towel around her.

"We must go for ice-cream before we go home. I will skip having dessert at home tonight," Mishka suggested as she and Gillian got dressed afterwards.

"Oh, I don't think that I will ever get tired of having dessert at your house," Gillian responded. "But, ice-cream sounds alright if you want to discuss that situation concerning the stalker," she added without a tone of doubt in her voice.

"Yes, I actually have some exciting and interesting news for you, that's why we can't talk at my home or yours," Mishka responded.

"Wow, now you've got me curious," Gillian responded with a frown. She took a break from combing her hair to stare at Mishka.

"Don't tell me that you've got a serious boyfriend?" she asked with her eyes wide from curiosity.

"You will just have to wait and no, it's not about a boyfriend, I'm not getting engaged or married, no," Mishka responded.

"Oh, well then it's not that exciting, but don't worry. I will wait," Gillian responded.

"Yes, just follow my car and I will guide you to the restaurant where they make my favourite ice-cream," Mishka responded with a smile.

She always wondered why boyfriend news had such a big impact on Gillian when she was so athletically-centred.

"So, you've found yourself a new ice-cream hangout, I see," Gillian remarked.

"Oh definitely!" Mishka agreed with a bright smile on her face.

"And don't worry. I will look out for that stalker as we drive. She shouldn't make the mistake of thinking that you're alone," Gillian remarked with her chin raised defiantly.

In the restaurant, Gillian sat on the edge of her seat from excitement and anticipation.

"You are not gonna believe what I'm about to tell you," Mishka began.

"Oh, don't keep me in suspense," Gillian responded as she shifted around on her chair impatiently.

"Wow, there are those models right here again," Mishka announced as she stared past Gillian's shoulder.

"You mean, Bruce the designer's models?" Gillian asked with a frown as she turned and stared at the group sitting at a corner table a distance behind her. "I only recognize one of them," she added.

"Oh that's because I met the others behind your back at Bruce's mansion!" Mishka told herself in a panic. She had not even anticipated the fact that she could run into one of Bruce's people while she was with Gillian. They could very quickly give away her secret of visiting the mansion.

"Gillian will never trust me again if I carry on with following her parents' advice about not telling her about my visits to Bruce. This can turn out ugly," Mishka told herself anxiously as she lifted her menu high enough to hide her face.

"I don't want them to come over and chat. It's already late enough with us having to go to work tomorrow. Those models get up late in the mornings," Mishka remarked.

"Well, tell me your news quickly then," Gillian responded, studying her menu as a waitress approached.

"Grandma invited me to something like a ball on Saturday night," Mishka announced after giving her order to the waitress without consulting her own menu.

"Your grandma is being friendly towards you?" Gillian asked with her eyes big from surprise.

"Is it perhaps for match-making? Ah, I get it. She's found you the perfect match again, but this time she's going a step higher. She's going to introduce you to him in style," Gillian added with a wise look on her face as she grinned at Mishka.

"It might be the case, but I'm also wondering whether it's perhaps gonna be a gathering for old and modern fortune-tellers," Mishka remarked in a low tone of voice.

"But, why would she want to drop her cover in front of you?" Gillian asked with a confused frown on her brow.

"Maybe she wants to finally introduce me to her circle of influence, but in a gradual manner," Mishka responded, smiling but with a pensive look in her eyes.

"What if you see or hear something there which will totally unnerve you? What if you meet up with an enemy of hers who decides to avenge her by being mean to you?" Gillian asked with her eyes large from fear.

The music in the restaurant was soothing, but Gillian looked very afraid.

"You shouldn't take things that far," Mishka responded with a pat on Gillian's hand.

"I will arrive there on my own because I'm having a music session before I join my grandma there," she explained.

"But, why don't you just skip it? You can say that you were tired from your music session," Gillian suggested as their ice-cream order arrived.

"Because I'm much too excited to miss out on something like this. I don't think that Grandma will expose me to danger. She will have to answer to Dad if she does because he knows about her invitation to me," Mishka replied as she received her ice-cream with a happy smile on her face.

"You're sounding like the mouse before it walks into a trap," Gillian remarked, her eyes fixed on Mishka's face in deep concern. "We should get my mother's opinion about this," she suggested.

"Should we really? She will become even more paranoid than you are," Mishka responded, shaking her head in disagreement.

"Then I'm most certainly coming with you," Gillian remarked with a determined look in her eyes as she stared at Mishka.

"My grandma could freak out if I invited someone on my own," Mishka responded with a doubtful look in her own eyes.

"I think it's better to take extra care, regardless of your grandmother's feelings," Gillian remarked as she turned her attention to her ice-cream.

"There could be weird people there that you're not ready to be confronted with," Mishka responded without a smile this time.

"So, are you ready to expose yourself to them all alone?" Gillian asked in a concerned tone of voice.

"Don't let your curiosity take you too far," she added with a quick glance over her shoulder. "Your grandma's chanting alone says that she's into dangerous company. It sounds really freaky," Gillian added, leaning close to Mishka.

Mishka stared back at Gillian with a worried frown on her brow.

"I never heard it clearly, you know," she commented.

"So, what are you gonna do?" Gillian asked with her breath held.
