June's POV
Geez, it's already Saturday. The day of the event, oh I hate parties. Luen this is all your fault and Xander, I'm doing this because you asked.
4:00pm
"Maa, I'm going for the party." I said to mum who was busy in the kitchen.
"Okay baby, be safe and come back early okay. I'll be going to the company in a few hours so, I might not be here when you get back. You have your spare key right?"
"Yes maa." I replied while confirming that I put it in my bag.
"Okay, have fun." She said after coming out of the kitchen while drying her hands with a small towel.
"okay, bye mum" I said picking my bag and heading for the door. Outside, I hail a cab and get in. I decided to call Luen to know if she was ready as we are to go together. I take out my phone from my bag and I dialed her number in hurry. I am sure she must be waiting for me.
After two rings, the call was connected and I heard her say,
"June, hey, are you ready?" I smiled looking outside of the window. Everyone was in hurry to go to their respective places.
I turned and replied, "Yeah. On my way, I will be there in a few minutes." I heard her sigh.
"Okay, hurry. I'm also there." She said in low voice as if she was already tired but I think she should have been energetic because it was her plan to make me attend by the way.
"Okay, babe. See you soon." I hung up the call and shook my head as I looked outside of the window taking in the fresh air carrying the scent of nature.
Stone Residence
I just got out of the car about to phone Luen when I heard her call out to me. I saw her waving from a short distance while making her way towards me. When she got to me, we both hugged in greeting while complimenting each other. We both stepped in together and just like her, I'm astonished at the exterior design and look of the building. No, not just any building, a freaking mansion.
"I knew Xander is from a rich home but I never imagined this." I heard Luen say to me in a whisper.
"I know right? The house is big and beautiful." I said while checking out the surrounding. Lots of people mostly couples making their way into the building.
"Hey girls." I hear a voice in front of me making me raise my head to meet the owner.
"Hey Luka, you're already here" I said to Luka Xander's best friend who looked extremely dashing today.
"Yeah but I didn't expect that you would come." I heard him say with surprise lacing his voice
"I know right?" I said. I can't blame him. I'm not the party or outdoor type and they all know it. I could skip prom just so I don't leave the house.
"Hi Luen." Luka greeted with a smile plastered on his face.
"Hi!" Luen replied nervously with her blushing face and heads down. Who knew my best friend had this side to her. I would always taunt her with this.
"Someone's feeling shy." I whispered in her ear while smirking.
"Get out." she said chuckling lightly.
"I hope to see more of you today. Besides, you look beautiful." he said not forgetting to leave a compliment behind.
"Oh! Thank you, you also look great today." she said with a light smile.
"Thanks." he replied wide grin on his handsome face.
Mutual feelings this is so good. Come to think of it I can help them. Matchmaker mode activated.
Wait a sec, we've been outside for quite a while now.
"Where is Xander?" I asked Luka who was still basking in the compliment Luen gave.
"Oh, he's inside waiting for you guys. He's with aunt Vi so he asked for me to invite you in." he replied.
"I see, let's go in then." I say dragging Luen in with me.
Xxxxxx Inside the house
You can guess it's also extremely beautiful. Now where is he, my eyes scanning the environment for any sign of Xander.
"Hi June, Luen. I was wondering when you guys would finally come in." he greeted after making his way to us. There he is, right now I need a word superior to handsome because he is looking breath taking in that armani suit and penciled trouser. He sort of reminds me of the Ceo's in the romance novels I've read.
"Hi handsome." replied Luen making me roll my eyes. So now she can talk and think straight again.
"Let me introduce you to my step mum."
"Alex where have you been, I want you to meet...." his step mum said before pausing.
"Ohh! Who are these beautiful girls." she asked after seeing us.
"Mum, this is Luen and that is June." he introduced.
"Oh! How are you girls?"
"We are fine Mrs Stone. Happy birthday."
Oops, I forgot to mention, the event was Mrs Stone's birthday.
Violet Stone, she is Xander's step mum. I don't know much about her but I know she got married to Mr Stone after the death of his wife and Xander really respects her like his mum.
"Thank you dear, hope you're enjoying the party?"
"Yes ma." we both responded.
"That's good. Have fun okay."
"We will ma."
The party went on from there. After a while, Xander, Luka, Mitch, Luen and I went to a separate place outside the mansion. There we played a game of cards with Luka, Mitch and I winning while Xander and Luen failed horribly. We chatted happily and bounded, Mitch who happened to be Xander's cousin talking of his girlfriend who would soon return to the state. After few hours, the party came to an end. We went in search of Mrs Stone to say our goodbyes before leaving.Luka volunteered to drop Luen while I went with Xander. They both went to get their cars while Luen and I waited while talking of the party. On arriving, they honked to attract our attention. Luen and I said our goodbyes to each other before parting ways. This was by far the best weekend so far though it was tiring and I really need to recharge.
