Chapter 6 - Servant Collector

"That's the Stung Ripper!"

"Yes, that's the renowned weapon of our sect, and our senior brother was personally chosen by it."

"Indeed, in the rich history of our sect, only two ancestors were deemed worthy of wielding it, and now our senior brother is the third."

"Truly legendary!"

Allen's gaze fixed upon the weapon, the object of desire and fascination for the crowd. A lengthy wooden handle, seemingly crafted from the lightest of timbers, extended in the hands of senior brother Martin. Yet, at its far end, a curved blade emerged, captivating in its presence. The blade's tip radiated a crimson glow, thirsting for blood, while the inner edge of the sharp, curved blade shimmered under the caress of sunlight, accentuating its razor-like sharpness.

Allen's eyes gleamed with excitement as he saw the weapon. " Wow! That's so cool; it's a scythe!"

It was the first time he had seen a scythe in person; heck, this was the first time he had seen any weapon except a knife in his life.

'What the hell was I even doing? I should have watched all the fights instead of chatting with this pipsqueak and wasting my energy. How many cool fights did I miss? That pipsqueak is even planning on killing me; I better watch this match and that weapon, oh my god!' Allen berated himself for his poor decision to neglect the earlier battles in favour of conversation.

The spirit observed Allen, his eyes shining with delight as they fixated upon the scythe.

She pouted, her thoughts filled with jealousy. 'What makes a mere weapon so extraordinary? Even with me as his system, Master is still captivated by such a mundane object.'

Her face clearly betrayed her envy as she stomped her foot, positioning herself in front of Allen's eyes, craving attention.

'Master, you, who should be aiming to reach the pinnacle of the whole universe, are drooling over just a shiny weapon. Tch! Tch! I expected more from you, master!' She shook her head in disappointment as she spoke.

The twinkle in Allen's eyes faded, replaced by a look of disdain as he regarded the spirit. If given the opportunity, he would have spat in her direction without hesitation.

'You little pipsqueak, I'm drooling over a shining weapon, so what? Should I drool over you because you are planning on killing me? Look at you; you don't even shine a bit like that weapon, and what kind of system are you, giving me such a perverted mission? I bet you're just a male spirit, which is why you assigned me this mission. Have you ever seen a system that actively tries to eliminate its master?

I certainly haven't. Everyone else has awesome systems and perfect cheats, heck some even provide benefits when you're idle at home. But you, you ugly pipsqueak. You are planning to kill me instead of providing any cheats; you are a fraud. You are not a system. You are a fraud!' Allen unleashed his pent-up emotions in a furious outburst, his anger bubbling up and down with every breath in his mind.

Meanwhile,

Sniff!

Sniff!

The spirit appeared on the verge of tears, barely holding them back from streaming down her cheeks.

Allen, even witnessing this, felt no remorse for his harsh words.

Her pain intensified, and tears rolled down her face. Steeling herself, as if mentally preparing for something, she began to...

'What in the hell do you think you're doing?' Allen blurted out unconsciously, quickly covering his eyes as he observed the spirit's actions.

However, at that moment, he realised he had shouted quite loudly, prompting the nearby outer court disciples to wear puzzled expressions and inquire, 'What's with the sudden outburst?'

He clasped his hands together and promptly offered his apologies.

'What were you thinking? Have you lost your mind? Why would you suddenly start undressing like that?'

She pursed her lips and retorted, 'You don't believe me, master.'

'What?'

'You don't believe me; I'm a female. That's why I was about to provide proof,' she declared proudly, puffing out her small chest with no sign of earlier gloominess. 'And master, you mentioned that you liked that shiny weapon, right?'

'Yeah! Absolutely! That scythe is absolutely incredible!' Allen exclaimed with enthusiasm.

The spirit smirked, regarding Allen as if he were a fool, and said, 'Master, it seems you haven't yet witnessed the true potential of this system.'

'Huh? What do you mean?' Allen questioned.

'Why don't you open your system interface?' the spirit suggested.

'Why should I?'

'Just do it, master.'

Shaking his head, Allen focused on his system interface, and a blue rectangular screen materialized in front of him. He could see his first mission, which caused his eye to twitch, and he quickly looked to the spirit for answers, curious about what she was implying.

Understanding his gaze, she said, 'Master, do you see that circle in the corner? Tap that icon.'

Allen located the circular icon, which featured a left-facing arrow symbol. It indicated an option to go back. Surprised, he tapped it, only to be met with another surprise.

'Huh! What does this mean? If it's not complete, how are you here in front of me?'

'Well, I came into existence at just 50% completion.'

'So, what happens now?' Allen's attention shifted fully to the completion of the initialization process, momentarily forgetting about the ongoing battle.

'Experience for yourself the greatness of this collector system,' the spirit replied with an air of haughtiness and smugness.

Suddenly, a completion sound resounded in Allen's mind, and the interface indicated that the initialization process had successfully finished. A monotonous voice echoed in his mind.

*The initialization process has been successfully and safely completed.

The host can now open the Collector System Initialization package. *

As soon as the monotone voice ceased, a square gift package materialised on the system screen.

Slightly flustered by the voice and the sudden appearance of the gift package, Allen glanced at the spirit, about to inquire, but she spoke first.

'Master, that voice in your head is the system's voice. It will come to mind whenever something systemic happens, rather than me announcing it. Open the gift package, master,' the spirit urged, nudging his hands with her small body.

With a mixture of understanding and curiosity, Allen nodded and proceeded to open the gift, his thoughts lingering on the possibility of his luck finally changing.
