Chapter 28 - CHAPTER 27: HOW THE DAY WENT

HOW THE DAY WENT

Stretching her body, she was done for the day, she stood up from her seat.

Anne packed her things into her purse, leaving for home.

Dawson walked to the receptionist with a big smile on his face, carrying his briefcase by his side, "I see you are set to leave"

Anne nodded her head in return, "you told me that the company closes by six and this is already past six" she said, pointing her hand to the big round clock placed on the wall.

Dawson waved his hand nonchalantly, "Yes I did, I must say you are an exceptional person, I have never seen someone as brilliant as you are; today, being your first day as a secretary in an establishment and you were able to adjust just fine, that is wonderful"

Anne beamed brightly at the compliment, her toes curling in her shoes, even she, never expected to adjust like this, on her first day of resumption, "but today is just the beginning, what about the coming month? he will see a reason to fire me later, She thought warily to herself.

Seeing the faraway look on Anne's face, Dawson cleared his throat, wanting to draw back her attention, "Since you are ready to leave, let me walk you to the main entrance"

"Of course, thank you so much," she replied.

Together, they walked through the office, staff talking with their colleagues as they left for home, some were yawning, while some were walking, earphones plugged in their ears.

The company was too complex to navigate her way through, Anne was grateful to have Dawson walking by her side, left for her, she would have gotten lost in the company.

Using her eyes to scan the faces of the staff as she walked to the entrance door, She was hoping to see either Belle or Coco, but they were no way to be found.

They walked to the lobby together until they reached the parking lot, stopping at the company bus, "here we are, my car is over there," Dawson said pointing to a black car in the far end of the parking lot.

From his shoes to his shirt, his jacket, his briefcase even to his car, everything was black, he must have a thing for black, Anne thought to herself, "Thank you very much for your help today, I appreciate it, Mr. Dawson"

"No need for that, it is a pleasure to be of help to you, see you tomorrow," he bowed down and winked at her playfully before turning his back.

"Goodnight," she said.

He waved his hand without facing her.

She smiled and entered the bus along with other staff, she sat down in one of the seats.

The driver started the car as soon as he saw the seats were filled with staff.

When Anne got home, she switched on the lights, no sound could be heard, the house was still on its way, they left it in the morning, she was home, but alone.

She removed her shoes, tugged down her trousers, unbuttoned her shirt, she pulled away the hairband that kept her hair tied, letting her blonde curls cascade down her neck into her back, heading straight to her bathroom to have a nice shower.

For a while, She played with the waters, catching some of them in her hands before they slipped away into the drainage.

She thought about the happenings that occurred earlier, the same guy she fantasized about over and over again during the weekend was her new boss, Mr Richmond Ashvery, of all people.

She has always been a good girl, she has kept away from boys all her life, not because of her upbringing, even her mother sometimes asked her, when she bought a boyfriend but she always dodged the questions.

She wasn't attracted to men, at one point, she thought she was into women until she was kissed by a girl and she felt like kicking the girl in the guts, so she stopped trying. She decided she had changed everything, she did not know what made her fall for him that night, yes she was drunk but not too drunk to resist his advances. He made her feel what nobody had made her feel before, it felt magical, so surreal.

There was something about him that drew her to him even today, she almost cried when he told her to forget about that night as if it was something he regretted, she thought sadly, not to mention, that he was her employer and she needed the job.

After a while, She came out of the shower, reaching for the towel she placed over the door, she cleaned her body as she walked out of the bathroom.

She stood in front of her wardrobe, looking for casual clothes to wear.

"You left without saying goodbye, Miss Anne"

Her eyes widened, almost as big as a saucer, she jumped in surprise, she didn't hear the door open, neither did she hear the footsteps of anybody walking into her room.

She turned slowly to face the owner of the voice.

Of course, it was Belle, who else would be standing in her room, not caring whether she was dressed or not, if it was Coco, Coco would have knocked first but not Belle, Belle would walk right in and stand, even when she sees someone naked.

"What the hell Belle?"

Belle raised her eyebrows in question, confused by Anne's reaction to her presence, "what do you mean by what the hell Belle?

Anne was dazzled by Belle's level of denseness, "Belle, you entered my room without knocking and I am naked and about to dress up"

Her mouth made an O, "sorry about that but I knocked but you didn't answer, so I thought you were sleeping and I came to wake you up"

Belle gave Anne an awkward smile, "Hope you are not mad"

Anne rolled her eyeballs, Belle was going to make her mad one day, so she picked up a pink overflowing gown that was lying silently on the floor and placed it over her head, fully covered, she turned to face Belle squarely.
