THE SURPRISE INVITATION
During the Lunch break, Dawson entered the reception area of the office building, a sense of anticipation building within him. He had something important on his mind, and he was eager to find Anne, the secretary who worked on the floor.
He wanted to invite her to his mother's forthcoming birthday next weekend. Anne was the kind of person who had a warm and inviting presence, the type of woman elderly people easily liked with her odd dressing sense and the circle spectacles over her nose.
As he glanced around the reception area, Dawson couldn't help but feel a pang of disappointment. Anne was nowhere to be seen. He had expected her to be at her desk, diligently answering phone calls or organizing paperwork. She should be there.
