A TURN OF EVENT
"Can you tell me about it?" Richmond asked, it was a side of Anne he never knew.
Anne sat across from Richmond, her eyes red and swollen as she tried to stop tears from gushing out.
"It was devastating. He was diagnosed with cancer ten years ago. He fought it with everything he got. Sometimes we would joke about it and he would tell me that if he got well I should take him as my plus one to prom. I was really looking forward to it." She began. It was a fleeting hope, a dream they clung to amidst the harsh reality of chemotherapy and treatments.
As she spoke, memories flooded Anne's mind - memories of laughter and love, memories tainted by the shadow of illness.
Anne's voice quivered as she revealed the cruel twist of fate that robbed her of her father just days before her prom. The pain was still fresh, the wound raw and unhealed, "My dad's mind was strong but cancer was spreading so fast, he died two days before my prom."
