Richmond's gaze shifted to the ceiling, and he nodded solemnly. "I was attracted to you. I am still attracted to you, but I won't commit to any woman without telling her the truth. She needs to know what she is getting herself into."
Anne absorbed his words. "And have you told any woman what you just told me now?" she inquired, a subtle curiosity lacing her voice.
Richmond sighed heavily. He responded, "I can't tell anyone, it could be used against me. I don't know why I am telling you all these things. I just didn't want you to... You know, like judge us."
Anne strolled to the door and unlocked it. She knew if Richmond had wanted to enter, he could easily break down the door.
As Anne stood at the unlocked door, a mixture of emotions swirled within her—confusion, concern, and a growing sense of compassion.
Anne opened the door, allowing the cool night air to sweep into the room.
