Williams and Dawson were relaxed against a pillar in front of the company, waiting for their friends to join them.
As Williams and Dawson waited for Allen and Laura, their conversation turned to the presence of Anne, Mr. Richmond's secretary. Williams, knowing Dawson's connection with Anne, nudged him to inquire about her well-being.
"Why not call Anne and check on her?" Williams suggested, concerned.
Dawson, however, seemed indifferent, "Why should I call her?" Prompting Williams to remind him of his past interest in Anne.
"Aren't you the one who was flirting with her? Taking her to lunch and all?" Williams prodded.
Dawson chuckled, revealing his initial motives. "I was interested in her because she was Mr. Richmond's secretary, and she was the only girl willing to date me in the company."
Williams, amused, questioned Dawson's sincerity. "So you never had feelings for her?"
