Chapter 48 - Ashes

The Ashes remained in the air as the winds blew past the explosion.

Arthas looked at the snake, charred black on its skin. Crisping boils can be heard as it crackles from the aftermath burn.

Whiiishhh!

The winds caught the fire, carrying everything. Arthas intensely stared at the dead creature, coming from a world where the concept of zombies exists.

He had to make sure that they were dead.

"Nemesis, Morpheus" He muttered under his stern cold voice and flaming blue eyes.

Without delay, both creatures stomped on the head of the Leviathan.

Splaaatttt!

Insides splattered everywhere flying across the field of flames, blood showered the ground, it was revolting but one thing was sure.

The Leviathan was dead.

"It's fucking dead ain't it?" Arthas casually asked in a sarcastic tone.

Moltar and Francis stood silent as they watched all of it happen in less than 5 minutes.

Everything happened fast, they admired how Arthas was able to produce such firepower and the fact that he killed it.

The aftereffects then hit Arthas, his legs feeling frail, and staggered to walk much more stand.

As he was about to fall, Morpheus caught him in his snout. Arthas's eyes were weakened and his body felt hot and cold at the same time.

"Thank you, Morpheus" waving his hand as he signaled that he was fine.

Looking around he vaguely saw the environment that was destroyed. Fires crackled everywhere as it continued to implore its benevolence.

The snake that was squished lay there, dead.

"You both can rest now, Thank you, both of you…I'll make it up somehow" Arthas thank both his summons and smiled.

They both asked to be unsummoned so that they could properly rest, and Arthas did so. The battle was over, or so they thought.

The flames that were invigorated by the battle were raging onto the sidelines, multiple houses and structures were affected as the wind blows stronger, and so does the fire.

"Hey!, The fires spreading what do we do, Captain Francis?" Arthas shouted while covering his nose with his hand.

"What can we even do here other than run!"

"Run where? To your ass? We are literally surrounded by fire," Arthas retorts back to his statement.

"Go just run somewhere there has to be a way out somehow like Holy Maria just shut up and move" Francis bickered back as he waved his hand trying to get smoke out of his eyes.

"Stop it!, Move idiots don't stop, and Arthas don't fight back we need to get out of here" Moltar made his point as he casually threw the wood that was blocking their way.

Running through the raging storm of fire, they busted through at speeds as they encounter flailing debris, they were tired of the battle. They were barely able to do anything.

Exhausted they huffed and puffed as they went along, it was bad for Arthas who had a bad physical condition and stamina. He was running out of oxygen as he felt dizzy from all the running that he made.

Struggling through everything they finally made it out on one part of the street but there were still ways to go before they would be able to truly get out.

Feeling annoyed Arthas inwardly cursed himself for this bad thing to happen. He was really tired and needed rest, he felt his body slowly failing him.

"Can we move any faster?!"

"Arthas, we can move faster but we can't leave you alone, you are getting slow by the minute. Keep up!" Francis responded to his question.

'Then fucking carry me—never mind, I'll just run on my own.'

Not minding the surroundings he kept running, his consciousness nearly fading. He didn't notice the flaming debris falling on top, he saw it only a few meters, too close to dodge or do anything.

BoommBooom!!

When it was about to hit, it was flung away and was slammed into another wall where it hit the broken house and made it fall down its structure. Arthas didn't comprehend anything and thought that he was dead.

'What the? Am I dead or am I not yet dead? What do you even consider dead anymore!'

He looked around wondering what happened. Looked back and forth towards the falling rocks dn destroyed house.

His eyes then widened by what he saw, he was saved by Alicia…Alicia was riding on a giant white fur fox, it had a majestic mane and fur that covered its body, with giant icicles floating around it in a circle pattern.

The fox was big but it wasn't as big as his Rexes but it was big enough to easily surpass the height of one house back on Earth.

"What the hell is that?" Arthas exclaimed.

"My summon you dummy Her name is…er well no proper name yet. Hop on faster."Alicia petted her summon as she introduced her to Arthas, inviting him for a ride.

Arthas quickly got on the fox with its mystic eyes looking through his soul. He felt chills as he climbed up.

Huuppp!

He quickly rode and Alicia gave a signal to go forward. The fox without delay made swift movements as it dodged everything that was falling.

"Hey, where's your uncle and Moltar? They should be up ahead" Arthas asked while covering his head

"Don't worry, they're fine. Once they noticed that I was coming for you, they quickly left."

"Why didn't they just help me or carry me?!"

"Do you want to be carried, Princess?" Alicia refuted as she kept her eyes peeled for anything that might fall.

"Fair…enough"

That made Arthas shut up. The fox kept breathing ice as they passed through every fiery district.

Putting out the fires that all come their way, sizzles appear every time they extinguish a fire.

Sizzzzzzleeee!

Soon enough they were almost out, Arthas was relieved but his head was still spinning from the recoil of using too much.

"Hey, you don't throw up behind me alright, or else I'm toasting you!" Alicia screamed as the ride became bumpy.

"I am trying or else, I will if you don't move faster!"

"I am moving faster you dimwit, make your stomach go slower so you won't throw up!"

"You think I can control my stomach?!"

"You think I can control the fire that slows us down?! Then just hang on we're going to tread carefully" Alicia bickered with him as

The smoke became dense and it was getting harder to see forward.

The fox increased its magic as it continued to release ice and snow to slow down the spread of fire and extinguish anything that came.

Alicia was sweating profusely from the intense heat and smoke that came into her eyes.

Arthas was grabbing tightly the fur of the fox, he was right behind Alicia.

He wasn't in the mood to do anything much less, do something. His body felt increasingly hot and his movements slowed down.

Just the final hurdle as the fox blasted through mounds of debris that fell with its attack, bursting through it and damaging their way out.

Arthas looked behind and felt the temperature drop rapidly. The spread of fire can be horridly seen as the flames devoured the houses.

The last thing he saw was the face of Alicia, with white hair, and golden eyes that radiated the sun.

'Pretty…' Arthas thought as his eyes began to fall down.

He fell asleep, tiredness overcame him, and numbness dulled his senses. He fell fast to his prey, peacefully sleeping.

Unknowing to him Alicia looked at him with eyes of mystery.

'Pretty, huh.' She thought as she heard what he said.

"Quite an interesting person, where in the moon's light did you come from, how curious…"

She looked behind and saw a devastating scene—fires of explosive intensity burned through with force.

The primordial element that ravaged everything it touches, it was like hell in the myths—the infernal cause of death.

Alicia stared at it long enough for Francis to come next to her.

"Licia, that Arthas boy, killed the Leviathan with a wide magic spell, even with our help it would be difficult to—"

"I know uncle. I know… There are too many uncertainties right now, the moonstone?"

"I'm afraid it's gone, it might very well be the catalyst to summon that damned thing" Francis replied to her.

"Vendetta" Alicia whispered as if it was a name forbidden to be spoken.

"Once again, they cause mayhem. A successful once as well, I hate to goddamn admit this…but if we didn't have Arthas we might as well be all dead or fatality wounded"

Alicia replied no more and stared intensely at the raging inferno that was eating away at their beloved city.

Ashes to ashes, dust to dust, crackling sounds of wood burning through the mist of chaos.
