Chapter 5 - Zombies!?

"What the heck was that!?"

"Did anyone else feel an electric shock in their body?"

"Is it a terrorist attack!?"

People in the bar started talking in panic about the strange phenomenon that had just occurred.

Not only them, the same scene was unfolding everywhere!

Cough! Cough!

But before they could continue talking, all those who were coughing began convulsing and vomiting even more blood. The amount was so overwhelming that some present believed that those people were already condemned to death!

After all, humans didn't have an endless reserve of blood in their bodies.

Zzzt!

Suddenly, to add even more chaos and confusion, a circular hologram of intense blue color manifested before those who were not coughing, leaving them perplexed and astonished!

"What on earth is this thing?" Does anyone else see it?"

"...Am I hallucinating?"

Ethan was also completely stunned witnessing something that seemed to be taken out of a video game. However, before he could even read what that enigmatic panel displayed, something even more disturbing happened.

"My love, are you feeling better?" a man elegantly dressed in a black suit said with joy as he watched his wife stop coughing and slowly rise.

"Darli- Ahhhh!"

"Uuurrrgh!"

Everyone was dumbfounded, with their eyes wide open, as they witnessed in slow motion the most horrifying scene they could ever imagine.

The woman's mouth grotesquely opened as if her jaw was dislocated, and her cheeks tore apart, revealing a row of sharp and disfigured teeth.

In an instant, her jaw lunged towards the man's face, sinking into his flesh with inhuman ferocity!

"N-nooooo!"

"Raaaaaargh!"

Crunch-Crunch!

The sinister sound of flesh being torn and the crunching of bones filled the air, as the man screamed in agony, his mutilated and bloodied face revealing the absolute horror of the scene.

"Darli...ng," the man stammered slowly, his voice finally ceased as the slow and macabre sound of chewing continued relentlessly, shaking everyone and leaving them pale with horror.

"Gaaaahhhh!"

"Isabel! my daughter, what are you doing? Ahhgg!"

"Uuuurrrr!"

"Hhhhhnngg!"

"Let go of me, let go, noooo!"

Upon hearing the terrifying roars reverberating everywhere and witnessing more people being brutally attacked, everyone realized one thing immediately: they had to escape as quickly as possible, without wasting a single second.

"Z-zombies! They're cursed zombies!" a man shouted continuously as he hastily fled from the bar!

Behind him, others followed suit in their desperate attempt to escape!

Bam!

Unfortunately, upon reaching the door and forcefully banging on it to open, several humanoid figures suddenly pounced on him, trapping him in a macabre embrace!

"Rrrroooaarr!"

"Raaahh!"

"Damn it, nooo! Let me go ahh-" his voice was quickly stifled as he was torn apart from all sides, his limbs brutally ripped off and his skin torn with ferocity.

The people who were about to leave abruptly stopped, causing some of them to fall.

"Oh my God, we have zombies everywhere!"

"We're doomed!"

"Let's try to fight against them! We can't let them devour us like the others!"

"Are you crazy!? How do you expect to face those beasts?"

Looking back, they found several zombies already attacking and biting nearby people, while in front of them, another group was feasting on the man from earlier.

Confusion engulfed them, unsure of what to do in this situation!

"Get out of the way, you damn useless people!"

A man wielding a chair pushed aside the crowd near the door.

Behind him, two men held wine bottles in their hands, accompanied by three incredibly beautiful women who followed them silently. They also held bottles in their hands.

Curiously, none of them showed signs of fear like the others; they seemed to be familiar with very dangerous situations.

Ethan also followed the group, maintaining a prudent distance but close enough to not attract the attention of the zombies feasting on their victims at the back of the bar.

He observed Matthew's group while reflecting on what was happening.

It was more than evident that a zombie apocalypse had been unleashed, and he, having seen countless zombie movies and TV shows, realized that now he could put into practice everything he had learned to help others!

"Brandon, take care of the one on the left, Garrett, handle the one on the right, and I'll get rid of the one in the middle," Matthew said with a cold gaze.

"Meanwhile, you three will be in charge of helping any of us in danger. We just need to immobilize them for a moment so we can escape from here," he indicated, quickly outlining the escape plan.

Ethan hurriedly approached them, his trembling voice reflecting his anxiety: "B-brother! How can I help?" he asked, desperately seeking a way to contribute.

The six turned their gaze to the person who spoke, but upon recognizing who it was, they quickly averted their eyes. Matthew, on the other hand, spoke indifferently, "I don't know, just make sure you don't get in the way."

"Let's get started! Just imagine we're beating the crap out of some bastards who owe us money!"

Whoosh!

"Yaaarrr-"

"Shut up, you damn piece of shit!"

Thud!

Matthew forcefully smashed the chair against the zombie's head, interrupting its growl!

The wood splintered upon impact, but he didn't stop there. He took advantage of the broken pieces and drove them into the zombie's body, immobilizing it on the ground as it writhed in unending agony.

"Garghhhhhh!"

Crash!

The other two wasted no time and struck their targets forcefully in the head with the bottles, causing a gruesome deformation in their skulls!

Glass shards flew everywhere, but even with their heads in such a state, the two zombies rose again.

"As expected from these disgusting zombies, getting rid of them isn't an easy task," commented Brandon, a young man in his twenties dressed in trendy clothes and sporting eye-catching earrings.

"But even so, they're still brainless zombies!"

Garrett shouted as he forcefully drove his broken bottle into the zombie's head, causing it to writhe for a moment before ceasing altogether!

"You're right about that!"

Brandon replicated the feat, killing the zombie beside him in the blink of an eye!

The crowd was astonished to witness how this small group effortlessly dispatched three zombies.

"What the hell? How are they so strong?"

"Now I know who to follow if I want to survive!"

"Quick, let's get out of here! The zombies at the back have finished devouring those unfortunate souls!"

Most of them followed Matthew's group, although some chose to go in different directions, making it clear that they didn't intend to trust anyone else.

Ethan hesitated for a moment about what to do, but he decided to trust his brother to survive this situation. Moreover, he was convinced that if he managed to survive the initial stages of this zombie apocalypse, he could help other people survive as well.

Something inside him warned him not to follow Matthew due to the way he had been treated lately, but Ethan couldn't ignore the fact that they were still brothers.

In the midst of this extreme situation, Ethan chose to trust that Matthew wouldn't harm him and that together they could overcome this crisis.

"Gruuuuuuh!"

"Arrrrrrr!"

"Blaaaargh!"

Just as they were about to reach the elevator at the Royal Towers, a bloodied figure emerged from a corner, running towards them. It held a strangely shaped weapon in its hand, vaguely resembling a gun but with unusual modifications.

"That bastard is going to lead us to our death!"

"Now we're really dead!"

"What the f*ck!" Matthew cursed helplessly as he scanned his surroundings for a possible escape route.

A sense of panic engulfed everyone as they realized that an endless horde of zombies was closing in, following the man.

"F*ck this... Just when I had obtained this incredible weapon, I got bitten. What shitty luck!"

Ziiiuuum! Ziiiuuum!

Suddenly, the man stopped and drew his weapon. What was curious was that he didn't shoot conventional bullets but energy orbs that turned any zombie daring to cross his path into ashes!

Unfortunately, the horde of zombies was overwhelming, quickly closing in on the man.

With heavy hearts, everyone understood that they had to leave that place without delay, before they were discovered and dragged into the same desperate fate.

Ziiiuuum! Ziiiuuum! Ziiiuuum!

"Die, die!"

As expected, Ethan helplessly watched from a distance as the brave man armed with his enigmatic futuristic pistol was surrounded and torn apart by the zombies.

Even his weapon was mercilessly trampled until it turned into a pile of shattered scrap.

A couple of minutes later, after witnessing all kinds of horrific scenes on their way, they finally reached the elevators. However, when Matthew pressed the button, there was no response. It was as if something was preventing the elevator from moving.

They tried the other elevators, but they encountered the same situation again and again. Until finally, one of them worked and started ascending!

"Phew, I thought none of them would work."

"Yeah, although we all know we can't fit everyone in one elevator. So, we'll have to take turns. Who should go first?"

"Well, that should be evident to everyone..."

The group looked at each other, but soon reached a unanimous agreement that Matthew and his friends should be the first to use it.

Ding!

Relieved smiles formed on their faces as they saw the door opening, but quickly faded as they witnessed a large number of zombies emerging from inside!
