Chapter 44 - Combat Class

Klaus woke up as usual, ate his breakfast, and proceeded to his class.

Unlike the previous day, today the class is about combat. In a week the compulsory classes hold only for five days. Day one is the theory, Day two is combat, next comes theory and next is combat. There would be a day gap for rest and followed by combat class. Another day of rest before theory class.

The academy could have started with combat which would make two consecutive days of rest. The higher-ups didn't think so. Rest is needed but too much would make people plain lazy.

Unlike theory class which is held between four walls, the combat class is done on open grounds.

The combat grounds are larger than Klaus expected. There are also a lot of students than there were in the class. It looked like the class for all students of a particular year is held at the same time.

Though the theory lecturers are varied, the lecturers for combat seemed to be the same.

A bald-headed man walked right to the front of the students and shouted, "Attention and form the lines".

Though no one has been trained, they knew a basic command like that.

Klaus followed his classmates and positioned himself into a line at the near end. He looked at the instructor, 'A fearsome looking bald instructor. This looks like the novel stories where these bald ones will be impressed by the work ethics of the protagonist and would help them to gain better advances.'

'Aaargh! I hope it won't be like that. If he wastes most of his time on a single person, others wouldn't advance much, not that I care. The problem would be that I could be among those. I need to squeeze as much experience from the instructors as I can before I lose the opportunity.'

The bald instructor spoke, "My name is Seth Jameson. I'll be your combat coach from now on until you graduate from this academy.

Some of you are from noble backgrounds who got training from a young age or some of you are lucky enough to be trained by some notable combatants. I don't care. From now on you are nobodies when the class is in session.

From now onwards you do what I say you to do. No objections. Is that Understood?"

"Sir, yes, Sir", the students shouted back in reply.

'Are they going throw us in the military? I didn't signup for that.'

'Probably the lowest of the bunch would have to join but top players can join wherever they want. Even if by chance I wouldn't become the top person, I have my own place. The military will never be in that place. I'm not a person who would be bound by too many rules.'

'A few would be fine but in the military, there are too many and they are very strict.'

Coach Seth roared, "No matter whether you are a mage or a knight, you need endurance to survive a fight. I don't mean just physical endurance but also mental. You may think why? Let me tell you the reason.

A knight is physically stronger and can survive longer. The problem is that if you don't have enough mental strength, your strikes would fail to land on your opponents. So it wouldn't matter if you can fight or not because you would be dead.

Similarly, a mage has high mental strength and can use spells for a long time but if your physique is weak and you fell down during spell casting, I'm not a mage but from what I know you would receive backlash and it would spell your death.

So no matter what, every attribute is necessary. The difference you need to know is that not all attributes can gain the same value. Some attributes would be required to be higher than others but that doesn't mean you can neglect those.

Understood?"

"Sir Yes Sir".

"Now run two laps around the ground before we dive into the main part".

Everyone groaned at the order but accepted the order and started to run. Seth is too intimidating to even talk back to him except to accept that their lives have become hell.
