The streets were Cobberbelt people gathered around for the charity event was mostly sponsored by the hero Shadow Shaman agency. Copperbelt used to be a providence which consisted of two cities and four towns and were rich in mineral making it a popular farming s but after it was the epicenter of the Earthquake destroying the two cities and three out of four of the towns. Two sites were built in their destruction the new Cobberbelt and the rebuilt small town of Mufulira.
The Charity event was held in an open area with multiple volunteers which the facility hired to assist with the event. Only one of Shadow Shaman's sidekicks by the name Phantom-Fist had appeared to the event and used his quirk Spector hands to make purple ghostly arms of different sizes to help in the distribution of the resources to the people.
Phantom Fist was tall, muscular and wore a sleek form-fitting suit made of translucent material that glowed faintly, glowing purple gauntlets and finally a purple mask.
Chimwemwe was using his electromagnetism to lift a good amount of maize which were loaded by Vincent's roots towards the volunteers where they distributed them in an orderly manner.
Lusungu was also with them as he was handling multiple bags of maize and coal on one shoulder each and taking them to the volunteers.
Daniella was using her quirk to provide clean water to the public by separating the toxic/hazardous substances thus dropping the clean water into their tanks.
Finally, A large crowd gathered around Suiw as they watched in awe as she made different contractions using her quirk.
The news crew arrived earlier, but it was only one channel due to the fact there were bigger events happening in Copperbelt city. The interviewed the Pillars but their primary focus were Daniella, Vincent and Suiw due to them being famous already.
Chimwemwe pov
We were all currently in a tent resting after working all morning and quarter of the afternoon.
"Oh man these people really don't play around do they." I Sighed tiredly as I laid on the bench with Suiw laying on my back.
"Hey at least you didn't have to entertain people all day. I even saw some men starting to look at me weirdly." She complained.
"I had to deal with people and if I had to wait so that I could attend to others when they arrived first they got all aggressive and pushy. Some guy even tried getting all flirty and touchy" Daniella rubbed her head in frustration.
"Really." Vincent said dangerously.
"Relax, I handled it." She reassured him.
"If you say so. I told you guys things would get messy." He relaxed. "Anyway, we also had a rough day and if it weren't for Phantom Fist not being here, me and Chimwemwe would have likely fought some people distributing the maize."
"Yeah, and to be honest I was waiting for one of them to throw a punch so I could send them to kingdom come." I joked a little with a little smirk on my face.
"You're just getting more violent." Suiw began rubbing my hair with her.
"Get off me." I growled at her which she didn't.
"Man, I'm all dirty and hungry. When are you finally going to get a little something to eat." Lusungu whined as he lay on the ground. The gears in his eyes were turning slower.
Wouldn't blame him if he was hungry, hell I was too. We had to get up early today, thus having a fast light breakfast before being dropped off at the facility where we took the brand-new bus they bought and brought us here.
Mrs. Dutch came in with two bags containing lunch boxes. She handed each of us one and they contained chicken burgers and chips.
"Eat up Pillars. I saw how hungry you all were, so I decided to order you all a meal." She smiled sweetly. "I know you're all tired but after Mr. Umar arrives and gives his speech and you meet him then I promise we'll be finished." we all groaned at that.
I was a little surprised the man was still active after his son's death. I guess the death fueled a bigger fire in him to take a bigger role in politics or something.
"I really don't know if I could get out of this without diamond punching someone." Suiw sighed.
"Wow you're getting more violent." I shot back and she blew a raspberry at me.
"Anyway, you kids stay here and continue resting up. I must take this call from the boss." Mrs. The Dutch then left the tent.
"Hey, have any of you guys ever met the person who started this whole pillar thing?" I asked the others and they all denied it which got me even more curious.
No sooner after she left than Phantom-Fist came into the tent with two purple arms floating beside him.
"Good to see you're all resting up alright." He spoke.
"Phantom-Fist why isn't Shadow Shaman here or any of his other side kicks?" Vincent bluntly asked, making Danielle elbow him a bit. "What the fuck was that for?" He glared at her.
"It's alright, it's an honest question. Well Vincent there's been an emergency in Lusaka they had to investigate." He explained.
"Oh yeah I heard they're helping to investigate the case of all the alarming number of dead women." Daniella asked.
"Yes, but let's not talk about that. I wanted to thank you pillars for helping with this charity event."
"You're welcome but I get that members of Shadow Shaman's agency aren't here but why aren't there more heroes here to help out want this whole thing to boast their popularity or something?" Suiw asked.
"Yes, but others have gone to more popular sites for that and since there are a few heroes in the country compared to others you."
"Like they're donations will do much." I heard Vincent mutter.
"Why is it that I thought secondary schools began introducing the hero course now?" Lusungu asked.
"Yes, sadly most schools that were adopting this program ended up discontinuing it due to them not having the proper funds or equipment to continue to train heroes. And in colleges people who have the dream of being heroes usually throw it away and pursuit other careers." He explained.
"Wait, did that happen to your schools too?" Vincent asked us.
"Well, mine discontinued it just a few months ago after lack of money too." Daniella answered.
"Ours hasn't but I heard that they were having trouble keeping the hero course as it was hard to find proper heroes who would teach as most were either too busy, so they were usually part-time or demanded too much cash." I explained.
"Oh yeah I heard that story too but I thought saint Teresa was an international school so how does it not have enough money?" Suiw wondered.
"I don't know business, the economy and politics." I answered but then I felt a fluctuation in the electromagnetic field and grunted in pain as a sensation jolted my body and I moved away from the others as electricity crackled out of my body a bit. I felt a disruption in the electromagnetic field which screwed with my quirk a bit. My best guess was that this was caused by an EMF wave.
"Chicky are you okay!" Suiw asked me worriedly as she walked over to me.
"Stay back!"" I warned her before she got too close as I regained my vision and got my quirk under control. "Guys are your phones working?" They all got confused by my request but proceeded to check.
"No, it's not but that doesn't make any sense. You charged an hour ago." Suiw asked in confusion.
"Mine too." Daniella said as she looked at her phone.
"My communications are down as well?" Phantom Fist touched his earpiece.
"Phantom Fist sir I know what caused all this." I spoke and all five of them looked at me. "Someone or something set of an EMP wave that's why no electronic devices are currently working." I explained.
"What the hell is an emp?" Vincent asked and was given an explanation given to him by Lusungu.
"Chimwemwe if you were affected you can I ask if you're able to sense it can you track where it was set off?" Phantom Fist asked as he helped me up.
"I can but are you sure?" I asked him.
"Yes, I'm giving you permission to use your quirk. There's a potential threat out there and it would be best if I handled the situation before things go too far. Don't worry I'll take full responsibility if things go rough." He spoke.
"Okay just remember that last part." I began but it, but I was getting abnormal readings from the reflected microwaves like there was a void in a certain area. I forced myself to send more faint microwaves in its direction to get a clearer picture of who or what it was in my mind, which was a sphere of sorts about 5 feet in width and 8 feet in height which appeared to be moving. 'A barrier quirk or a pocket dimension quirk.' I hummed.
"I got it, but we should hurry because however or whatever set it off is moving." I informed the hero.
"I know I'm not supposed to do this, but can you lead me to it?" I nodded at his request. "Excellent you four stay here."
"You can't just expect us to be here when there's a villain out there!" Vincent argued.
"No, I'm already breaking protocol by taking Chimwemwe with me and..."
"Chimwemwe isn't even training to be a hero, but we are. Phantom Fist we can help!" Vincent yelled with determination.
"Sir you're the only hero here and if things get a little too rough you might need to back up. Like Vincent said we've been training hard to be heroes we can help!" Daniella jumped in.
"Yeah, and from what Chicky and Lusungu explained then communications aren't available so if things get too dangerous you can't really call for help meaning we're the best option for back up right now."
"Yeah, let us help, we promise you won't be disappointed!" Lusungu pumped his fists.
"Fine but stay close, listen to everything I tell and if things get too out of hand try your best to escape." They all nodded. "Lead the way Chimwemwe."
"Let's go because the source is moving." I told them and we all ran out of the tent. "Can I use my quirk to make things faster?" I asked and he nodded. I then shot a steam of lightning from my hands, surprising and scaring the people nearby. Using my radar to help guide it to the location where I'm sensing the abnormal reflections.
We finally reached where my attack landed and I saw a man with regular clothes wearing a mask. He was kneeling on the ground with his body twitching a little bit and held a gun in his hands. The people around looked in terror or ran away from the scene. Phantom-Grip quickly activated his Spector hands making two hands, one as large as a person picking up the guy and one average sized taking the gun.
"Y-You!!" The masked man glared at me before passing out, and his voice was familiar.
"Wait a minute." I removed his mask and pulled down his hoodie and I saw it was the guy with the stealth who had tried to kidnap me. "How the hell do you keep getting out of jail? What form of corruption are you using?" I asked in bemusement.
"Chimzey, you know this guy?" Lusungu asked me.
"Yeah, he and his crew tried to kidnap me a few times."
"Wait what!?" Suiw yelled in worry.
"His name is Mute, and a small-time Villain known for robbery, murder and numerous escapes from the authorities mostly due to his mysterious stealth quirk." Phantom-Grip informed us.
"Why would he be here though?" Daniella asked.
"I have a theory." Phantom Fist mumbled as he turned to Mr. Umar. "Suspect apprehended." He said while touching his earpiece.
"Communications are down, remember?" I asked a little mused.
"Sorry, force of habit." He chuckled a little and turned to me. "Chimwemwe when you ever go pro you should think of joining our agency."
"Look at you Chicky for someone who doesn't want to be a hero you sure are doing a lot of it. ~" Suiw playful nagged my shoulder.
"Whatever it's wasn't a big deal or anything." I muttered while putting my hands in my pockets and noticed Vincent gave me a little stink eye, but I ignored it.
End of pov
A little while later
After they caught the Villain, Chimwemwe gave his phone which he had restored power to thanks to the quirk to Phantom Fist to call for backup. A few minutes later a squad of police arrived at the scene and took the villain away before glaring hard at Chimwemwe. Others searched the area just in case.
The charity event was cancelled due to the incident, leading to a lot of people yelling in dissatisfaction as some never received some maize, sugar, or coal leading to a small riot which the police tried to get under control. Mrs. Dutch quickly told the pillars to get in the bus for their departure as things were getting a little too hectic.
Phantom Fist requested Mr. Umar's presence and told that there was an attempt on his life much to the man's shock but he untimely assumed this might have been the work of Kujitenge.
In the police cruiser
Mute sat at the back of the cruiser with his head down and two armed officers keeping a secure watch on him. As the car drove through the dirt road, they heard a 'thump' on the roof.
"What was that?" One of the policemen asked.
The driver then stopped the vehicle but as soon as he did that the front of the vehicle was cleanly cut from the top to bottom along with the driver.
"WHAT THE HELL!?" One of the policemen yelled getting his ak47 ready but then his head was cut in half making him drop to the floor lifeless.
"SHI-AAAHHH!!" The final policeman yelled in pain and terror as his body was cut in half from the waist down.
The captain of the south Divider then flashed into the back of the vehicle and shot the policeman on the head, killing him.
"Divider sir!" Mute said in surprise at his captain.
"You failed your mission Mute." Divider sternly spoke as he looked down at him with the black eyelids of his ivory mask borrowed into Mute's soul, scaring the villain. Divider then waved his left hand into a downward cutting motion making Mute close his eyes but he found that his cuffs were cut. "If your quirk wasn't so useful I would have cut you in half."
"Forgive me Captain but I can explain. Phantom Fist somehow managed to locate me even though my quirk was activated. I think the Pillar Children had something to do with it along with the Caçar kid." He bowed and his statement caught the southern Captain's attention.
"Well then…" He grabbed Mute's shoulder. "You'll give me a more detailed explanation at the base." The two disappeared in a flash of blue.
Nighttime
Facility
In the upper floor Mrs. Dutch was meeting Professor Kweli, Mr. Mwamba and finally an average heighted man with black hair, grey eyes, long beard, wearing a white thawb and taqiyya.
She was giving a report on what happened at the charity event and the three men were listening attentively.
"Well, that was quite the setback, but I'm still pressed one of my Pillars was the one to find the Villain." Mr. Rafiq chuckled to himself, he understood why most of the credit went to Phantom Fist.
"Sir, if I might ask what's our next move, do we cancel the final trip?" Mrs. Dutch asked his employer.
"No, we've invested too much in this trip to Mangochi and unlike the town there will be a gallon of people there. Some heroes are available, and this will be our chance to increase the awareness of the pillars to the general crowd but also representatives of some of the four families will also be there." Mr. Rafiq denied.
"Mr. Rafiq is correct that cancelling not an option especially when it will breed room for more opportunities." Mr. Mwamba gave his thoughts.
"So, have the remaining two graduated from primary school yet?"
"No, they haven't but they have written their Cambridge exams with the amazing grade so having them graduate early is very possible." Ms. Dutch suggested.
"Good, then it's about we finish Nyasaland's first ever true hero school." Mr. Rafiq nodded.
"Sir we have a problem. To my knowledge Chimwemwe doesn't want to be a hero so we should be removed from the program."
Professor Kweli asked. To be honest he didn't want the electric user to leave just yet as it would just be a waste of good potential and the fact, he was technically still the strongest out of the five and his electricity when last recorded reached 23 million volts and he uses other waves in the electromagnetic spectrum like microwaves and radio waves. He was curious how far the boy would go.
"No." Mr. Rafiq quickly denied. "I've read the reports you provided, and I can see the boy's potential though lazy, he has potential and a very powerful quirk. Remember this project is not just to help build the future generation of heroes but for use to mould individuals who will help in the development of the country. "He then looked at the pictures of the pillars on a giant screen monitor.
