It's been six days since Chimwemwe's encounter with the Kujitenge suspects and went to the gym to get a little first aid treatment in the gym. Unfortunately, Joseph was really bad at applying first aid so they decided to go to a clinic and get some treatment. But not before they had an interesting discussion on Joseph's car.
Flashback
"I know it's none of my business of my business but how did you get those injures." Joseph asked as he drove him to the cling.
"Oh, same I got into a fight with some bullies and well it got a little too intense." Chimwemwe lied though Joseph could tell that it was something more than a simple bully interaction plus him and his brother used to use similar lies.
"If you say so man." He shurrged not questioning him any further.
"Hey uncle J can I ask you something?"
"Depends what do you want to know that Minerva can't answer."
"What really happened to my parents. I know a villain killed Auntie I but I can I know the full story a little." Chimwemwe asked him and Joseph just cleared his throat not knowing how to deal with the situation he found himself in.
"Um I really don't think that you're no ready for that little dude and I think that's your aunt Minerva and Grandma's position to tell you what really went down that day." He really didn't see that it was in his right to tell him what happened sure he was his nephew as much as Minerva but her and his grandma did all the raising so he was going to back off a little.
"Tch fine but can you do me a little favor and teach me boxing. I see you practice most of the time I see you in the gym." Joseph looked at him a little intrigued at the request.
"Ha! Now that I can do!" He laughed a bit. "But why do you want to learn boxing though I thought Minerva was already teaching Muay Thai for self-defense. Wait don't tell despite having a powerful quirk you want to be a badass hand to hand hero." He chuckled.
"As cool as that sounds it's not the case. I heard there have been a slight increase in villain activity and crime so I just don't want to get my pockets ran." Chimwemwe explained.
"Don't won't to be a hero huh well that's very strange for someone your age in this day of age to say." I raised his eyebrow. "But whatever your uncle Jason will teach you his way of kicking ass!" He laughed a little ruffling Chimwemwe's hair a little and they made it to the local clinic.
"By the way uncle J what is your quick?"
"My quirk huh hm you can say that I have some really tough skin."
Flashback over
After those six days nothing much really happened much happened except Joseph started teaching Chimwemwe a little about boxing but Minerva was always there to keep a closer eye on them. His had still practiced in using his quirk and he was getting a little better at it. School was normal but he had noticed both Matthew and Suiw acting strange he could tell it was for different reasons as Suiw looked more tired and Matthew looked a little depressed from time to time.
Currently Chimwemwe was just in his room mid-afternoon headphones on listening to a French audio and just practicing some graphic designing on a laptop which he got from aunt three days but his gran came in and said it's only if keep getting top 5 of my classes and if I got blow that well good bye pc. Well, he didn't really have a problem with that am just glad to have a pc again that was good enough for him. Suddenly the door was flung opened.
"Hey Chicky." Minerva barged in without knocking causing him to jump from my bed and yell in surprise and she laughed a little. "Ha now I really know you got some cat in you!" She joked a little and he just clicked his tongue a little. "Oh, don't make that face sorry I barged in" She apologized by rubbing her tail on his nose.
"S-stop that!" Chimwemwe yelled swatting her tail away with a slight red face to prevent further tickling.
"Sorry couldn't resist you so adorable." She chuckled more and rubbed her tail on his nose a gain leading to the same result. "Anyway, enough about that came on Sosalas are down stairs." She said and wrapped her tai around him lifting him up and bring him to the living room. Yeah, she does it from time to time much but he learned to live with it.
The Sosalas in the room where than treated to the sight of a smiling cheetah woman holding a deadpanned eight-year-old boy with her tail and the two adults looked amused Suiw just snickered a little at Chimwemwe. Minerva than sat down placing Chimwemwe beside her.
"Hey Mr. and Ms. Sosala good to see you." Chimwemwe greeted them with a wave.
"Hello to you too Chimwemwe." Jemima greeted back.
"Nice to see you too Chimwemwe." Mutale greeted.
"Hey what about me aren't you glad to see me." Suiw fake pouted.
"I would but I see at school every day so meh." He had a little smirk on his face and Suiw just stuck her tongue out at him as usual. Once the two were done with their usual antics Minerva decided to start the conversation.
"So, Mr. Sosala Jemima you two usual call when you come by here is something the matter." She asked them.
"Well, I was going to come alone to come invite you to my cousin's kitchen party which is coming up in three days but my husband here tagged alone to for his 'News'." Jemima said with the last part in a little disdain and Matthew just sighed tiredly.
"A kitchen party aren't those only for family and close friends?" Minerva raised her eyebrow.
"Well yes but I told her about you and my mother, brother and cousin really want to meet you. Plus, you are a close friend." Her and Minerva even though Minerva had finally decided to turn down her offer it didn't hinder their friendship and she did save her daughter four years ago.
"W-well okay I don't see why not." Minerva accepted the invitation.
"Alright dear your turn time tell them 'Wonderful message'." She glared at her husband a little while Chimwemwe look very how distraught at the atmosphere between her parents.
"Hm hold on a second." Minerva said than turned to her nephew. "Hey Chicky why don't you and Suiw hang out in your room while I have an adult talk with the Sosalas." Minerva told him and he got the picture.
"Got it Auntie. Come on Suiw lets hung in my room I got a cool laptop I want to show you." He said and she smiled jumped her seat took his hand and the two walked off to his room.
"All right there gone out what is it you wanted to say." She said seriously folding her arms under her chest and Mutale cleared his throat.
"Well, you to summarize there's a big project being launched and it involves selecting five children from the country with special quirks and providing them with the best resources affordable in order to help them reach new heights with their quirks to become great heroes in the future." He explained.
"What's the name of this project and how is funding it?" She asked and Mutale knew that withholding much information wasn't a good him good in this situation.
"Well its name is project pillar and its basically governmentally funded." He answered and Minerva narrowed her eyes a little at him.
"I get the concept but how did Chimwemwe get selected for this were they just going throught every medical record in the country?" She asked him.
"My husband over here decided to volunteer our daughter and your nephew." This time Jemima answered and to say that Minerva was angry.
"Excuse me!" Minerva yelled a little and glared at him a bit. "Now tell me Mr. Sosala what gave you the right to volunteer MY flesh and blood into basically being a Guinea pig." Her voice was getting deeper and she was transformed a little reflecting her anger but she wasn't going to really attack him. In the meanwhile, Mutale was nervous as he in his mind on wrong sentence would lead to the woman ripping his throat out so he bit the inside of his mouth drawing and activating his focus quirk.
"M-Miss Caçar I know your very upset but I-I have a good explanation for everything." He said hoping to get a chance to defend himself.
"For your sake it better be." She than got back to normal but still glaring at him hard.
"Miss Caçar this project is a step forward for our country which would bring those with amazing quirks and my daughter and your nephew are one of them. Chimwemwe has a lot of potential an amazing quirk and his very intelligent this program will not only provide every necessity needed for him to become a powerful hero but also provide good quality education." He explained.
"Not sorry to break this to you but Chimwemwe doesn't want to be a hero." Minerva said. "And even if he did this whole thing sounds shady to me. For one how come I never heard of this project or why wasn't it announced locally am sure if they announced it people who were slept on would try out and be recognized."
"For now, the project is still new and isn't really a hero project but it will also dive into other areas and from as I said it will provide advanced levels of education what I was told it won't interfere with the children's regular schooling a schedule for them will be drawn out." After he was done Minerva was about to reply when Jemima stepped.
"Minerva, I understand your upset believe me I was too when he decided to volunteer our daughter in such a thing without even waiting for my opinion first even now am still a little peeved by it." She glared at him a little causing him to wince. "You have ever right to be more upset but please consider this could be a good opportunity for Chimwemwe I don't understand the science stuff but when we dropped Suiw off the first time one of the head scientists said that they could make college acceptance and tuition easier not just limited to the country if the children decide to go to university and you did one tell me that you wished for him to attend a very good college.
But like I said he no WE pushed our boundaries when volunteering him without your consent and it's perfectly understandable if you say no." Jemima finished and Minerva just sighed but was still upset.
"Give me time to think about it but don't ever pull this bullshit ever again." Minerva told them.
With the kids
Chimwemwe and Suwi were just in his with on headset piece on one ear each as they listened to music while they played a game on his pc.
"Hey Chimwemwe can I ask you something?" She looked at him.
"Sure, what is it."
"Were friends right and we're close right?" She asked looking deep into his eyes now and he nodded. "Then can I please call you Chicky too?" She asked him a little shy which was out of character for her in his case and just before he could refuse her eyes told him one thing. 'PLEASE!' so he agreed and she grew a soft smile and laid on his shoulders. "Thank you."
Four days later
After four days Minerva had told her mother of the project and like her she was also a little annoyed that Mr. Sosala just volunteered her grandson without their consent. Now both agreed that it was a better to pull him out of the project but Shupiwa said that it was alright to give it a chance. It was a good opportunity for Chimwemwe especially since Minerva explained that part that college processes will be easier in the future but once just the smallest thing goes wrong they're pulling him out.
When she told her nephew about it, and he also seemed a little hesitant but ultimately agreed to take part in the project. Now Chimwemwe agreed because he ultimately saw it as a chance to train his quirk in a better environment.
The lab was located in the central part of the Lusaka which wasn't that far to where they lived which was in woodland located in the south east part of Lusaka. The lab looked like a high maintenance company building from the outside but after they got inside and the receptionist told them to go up it was a different story.
"Damn its like one of those training/lab rooms in some anime." Chimwemwe said to himself. 'Sure, it's not on the level of places like labs I-Island but still damn.' He had seen pictures of I-island on the web.
"Hello you must be the Caçars." A man in his 30s come up to them. He a typical African man with average height, short brush black hair, his clothes consisted of the typical lab coat, black pants and so on. Minerva just nodded at his question. "Excellent right this way the other four have already arrived and are ready to begin." He said directing them.
"Just to let you know that I'll be around watching this program of yours for a little time like an hour or so for some days to makes sure it was safe for my nephew." Minerva told him as she still was not fully on board with this till, she personally so it was alright,
"That's reasonable Mrs. Caçar." He agreed.
"Just Miss am not married yet." She corrected him and he just looked surprised.
"O-Oh I-I apologize." He said nervously.
"Auntie M will you stop giving n*ggas green lights." Chimwemwe said earning him a tail smack to the head.
They got to the location of the four other children waiting in the center and he recognized Suiw but not the others. First was a was a boy about three years older than him with a black hair in a small afro, green eye, his arms seemed to be made of tree wood but also had holes in them and their also seemed to be brunches growing on his head making them look like horns.
Next was a pretty girl also about three years older than him. She had long black hair, her eyes were completely ocean blue even the sclera, her skin was covered in blue pink scales a little and ear ears looked like fins
Finally, was a kid about three years younger than him. He had curly blonde hair and brown eyes which had gears in them. They all seemed to be putting on white shirts, red pants and sneakers like a gym class.
"Chicky am glad you come!" Suiw ran and hugged him a little glad her friend was with her and Chimwemwe awkwardly patted her back while the other three stared at him well two the tree kid seemed uninterested.
'Well guess this will be the place I could freely experiment with my quirk' Chimwemwe thought as Suwi dragged him to the others.
