Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: Dwarfs

(little note, Dwarf have a thick Scottish accent in this story)

Erivrel Anvilhide, miner of the Manaite Mining. In the last week they did rejoice since they were able to get the mining charter (with some concessions to the king) of the Bonalch Peaks from the Grekiar empire, The city of Anathena and their copper skinned inhabited disturbed him with their odd practices. Yet he refocused he went deeper into the cavern system and after the resource the company of his cousin was named after: Manaite. Unrefined Manaite is akin to obsidian in look, yet give an odd glow. When refined the amount of energy it could releases was truly astounding and it was quickly becoming the life blood of many of the newer kingdoms. So if a single dwarven mining company would have access to potentially the biggest deposit in this side of the continent , than the Anvilhide clan name would echo throughout history.

Still Erivrel and his fellows would need to prospect. they dug in into the base of the mountain and already a cavern system in there in the base. The mountain already is filled with iron ore, making it easy to repair their pickaxes in their moving forge... he hopes they have have enough coal in stock. By they do mine Manaite, but they do not know how to properly use it and that would be bad for business, at least is what cousin Okere says. That crazy bastards put all his life savings and somehow convince the majority of the Anvilhide clan to do the same, by he reasons: "We ur a tough lot, ur we nae? sae let us tak' th' preciuse manaite 'n' mak' oor living " Even though the Anvilhides often worked with... Anvil, their forging techniques did give hardier pickaxes than fellow mining clans and unrefined manaite is very tough.

Yet as they made more incursion for prospecting deeper into the caverns, we prepared more infrastructure. Billios and his 3 brothers were already chopping down the Fir trees near the cave entrance which was deemed the best to start the excavation. Quickly small shelters are built by the two Illion brothers, two very distant Anvilhide cousin and rangers in Grekiar Kingdom. The fact that the Anvilhide clan number nearly 294 strong, was something that impressed him but made him worry, for all of the clan was in one place, the danger of their bloodline being erased was clear and the tragedy of Clan Gravelhead was still in the hearts and prayers of many.

Yet small excursions teams go into the mine, taking the iron ore for more infrastructure to be built as more buildings were being built and a small dirt road to the city was being planned to be built. Yet Greysar Anvilhide lead Erivrel and his cousin Lonoc deeper into the mine. Already one could see wooden support beams being built for extra protection when they start to properly mine, no cave ins shall occur. yet they went deeper than any other.

"Greysar, urr ye sure gaun this deep in th' mines alone is a guid idea? thare is na mair wodden suport 'n' we ur awready in uncharted territory " Lonoc voice come with some concern, his more bronzed face compared to other dwarfs telling a tale of living outside the holds, his beard long and bushy beard more black than goal as he brown eyes showing more, as his heavy features looking to any corner he found in the cavern with his mining helmet torch.

"Och c'moan young blood, fur hotter th' forge better th' blade! this is hee haw compared tae th' fields o' ekersburg. " Greysar said, the 'old' combat engineer with one good strike hit one of the walls it collapsed, revealing a new cavern system, the tone of the stone went grayer and it was clear: no light has ever entered this section in possible millennia. Greysar was a mountain for dwarfen standard, standing at 5 feet tall compared to the regular 4 feet and is wider and more well built, he still the heavy plate armor from his service in the Ekerian guard of Ekersburg and his face which posses heavy features was still marred by scars created by Orc flint weapons. His shoulder plates were styled like the edge of castle walls, forming to block like shoulder plates and his gauntlets run a styled hammer symbol in each, underneath is all was a lot of padding to take the blows from blunt weapons. His helmet was a spangenhelm with a visor to protect his eyes. His short tied black beard did show signs of graying. His skin grey where hence he got his name, did have a wriggle or two. No hair as he did the same reason

"Ah wirk wi' demolitions 'n' fire, dae ye think huvin lang locks 'n' beards is a guid idea? "

Yet Erivrel blue eyes did not shift from Greysar, as his expression was blank. the Erivrel was first cousin of Greysar, though he lacked the grey skin and the black hair, instead having blond one and tied his hair in a short knot in his back. Lonoc continued forward still wearily until the gauntlet hand of Greysar caught him as we was about to cross the threshold to properly enter the new cave.

"We ur nae alone" Greysar said, he got his pickax with his right hand ready to strike, tunnel fighting was what he specialized as he lit up a torch in his left hand to properly see the area, he clearly saw paw markings in the ground. it could have been a small creature but the clear claw markings as the tracks got more recent as it went deeper to the cave. It saw them and was returning to their group

"Bloody spiders?" Asked Erivrel as he got the same stance as his cousin, he would prove that they both share the same blood and destiny greatness. Lonoc tried to follow them, but the sudden fear of the possibility of getting eaten by wolf sized spiders did not find well and he accidentally dropped the torch, as the torch slid down into the cave, the extra light reflected into a crystal. A moving crystal.

A white hue of the crystal kept trotting forward. Greysar readied his pickax and went forward to protect his kin, Erivrel wished to followed but quick annoyed grunt from the veteran told him to stop his movement. Greysar would slaw this rouge golem and claim this future mine for his KIN. FOR THE ANVILHI-

Yet what came out was a small cube with a bipedal form, it two retractable leg being long. It was very small compared to them, twice the size of a baby chicken.

"Lonoc, this thing spooked ye? th' mines ur nae fur ye cousin " Erivrel said with a laugh, as he pointed his pickax at the cobalt ore golem, it was sturdy and it seems kind of new. it did not have any dust on it. it was well cleaned yet it did not have any marks of ownership and it was clearly not branded with the curse of the rouge golem, meaning it formed naturally?

"Th' sound o' hammers clanking 'n' hte hehat o' th' forge is fur me, ye dirt digger!" Lonoc hissed back as his cousin, a half-hearted blow to across his chest, yet that did not make past the leather reinforce chest plate

"Quiet ye lot, 'twas nae curious 'twas learning" Greysar says as he gets back to battle stance, looking to the side which the small golem came from. Looking to the possible avenues , the light shined again as if he received new instructions, his maker have instructed him to change his behavior. With slighly stiff motion he turned around and started go back to the darkness. As it was about to leave the radius of light it stopped in it's tracks and turned around.

"It wishes us tae follow it, shuid we Greysar? " Asked Erivrel, clearly wishing to see where this adventure will go. Lonoc was not so eager, but Greysar did not earn his rank by being idle.

"into th' jaws o' th' unknown mah kin, onward!" Greysar said and the dwarfs followed the small golem. None suspect the intelligence behind the golem would reveal itself and his plans, for if the dwarfs proved to be allies then a warm welcome awaited, which the Lithoid was inclined to agree as they did not harm his creation. if not.... well he would have to take more drastic measure
