I sat outside, feeling bored and restless. I had nothing to do, and the thought of spending another day cooped up at home was unbearable.
I stood up and walked around, trying to think of something, anything, to do. That's when I heard Anna calling me from around the corner.
"Hey Sky, what's up?" Anna asked, walking towards me.
"Not much, just bored out of my mind," I replied, shrugging my shoulders.
I was teaching Anna how to play the harmonica, building on the lessons we had started earlier. She was a quick learner, and soon she was playing simple tunes with ease.
After the lesson, I asked Anna, "Hey, if you had to give someone a present, what would you give them?"
Anna thought for a moment before responding, "It depends on what that person likes, but ultimately, what matters most is the thought behind the gift."
Anna's words stuck with me until the day before May's birthday.
I decided to take her advice and get May a gift that showed I cared. That night, I snuck out to our meeting spot, arriving before May.
When she arrived, we chatted for a bit, talking about our days and sharing stories. Before she was about to leave, I called out to her.
"Hey May, wait up," I said, standing up and pulling out the small box from my pocket.
"What's that?" May asked, curiosity etched on her face.
"I got you something," I said with a smile, handing her the box.
May opened the box to find a harmonica inside. She looked surprised and happy, saying "Thank you, Sky! But I don't know how to play it, can you teach me?"
I smiled, replying, "Yes."
We both smiled, and the moment hung in the air, filled with the promise of new memories to be made. May's eyes sparkled with excitement, and I felt happy knowing I had made her day special.
