After dying to a dumbass monkey I woke up to find myself in a jungle. 'Where am I?' Were my first thoughts. I felt awfully naked, as I felt a chilly breeze fall past my balls. I looked down to see myself wearing zero clothes and had fur all over me. I checked my entire body to find out I was a monkey.
"There is zero chance I am a monkey. Zero chance. There is no absolute way I am a banana eating baboon. I did not just regress in DNA, did I? This got to be a dream, it has to." I muttered hysterically. "I just have to punch myself to wake up. Yup, that's what I'm gonna do."
I lifted a fist to my face as I repeatedly punch myself until I felt blood falling through my nose. I felt pain each time I punched myself. All the signs showed that I was a monkey and this was not a dream.
"You got to be kidding me, my new life will be as a monkey. The animal that killed me." I angrily spoke.
I could have been a bird, gracefully flying through the skies. Or a lion that ruled the jungle. But no, I just had to be a monkey. Now other's might be thinking, 'you're lucky monkeys are the closet thing to humans in fact scientists thing humans are just move evolved gorillas or baboons'. You know the worst part of being a monkey? It's that I hate them. Imagine having to eat the food you would barf at everyday. That's exactly right. Now if it was anyone else in the world they would be fine but me this is a big problem.
Then I realized I still retained my past memories and that's definitely not normal.
'If I still retain my memories that's mean I've been reincarnated.'
As a reader of the genre I knew many tropes like reincarnating in a game, or a novel, but yet again I could just be in an entirely different world.
'If I still have my memories I got to have a cheat at least.'
"Status" I muttered under my breath.
When I did a holographic screen popped up.

At least I had a system, but every system novel there is means there are dangers in the world. I had zero idea if my stats were good but what the hell does it mean by "ugly as hell". At least I have a face unlike a certain thing here.
My eye's continued looking around the status screen to examine it looking for any shops or any of the kind, and that's when I found it the evolution rate.
'Are you telling me I can evolve? Does this mean I can become human again?' Because like I said before, primates are just humans of the past.
I guessed this system was just an info sheet showing me my stats and stuff and has no use besides that. I didn't see any interactable buttons so I gave up.
'Standing around won't help me so let's go explore the surroundings. Now you must be thinking how am I going along with this so easily, well it's because what am I going do about it? Cry to the gods and hopefully become human again. No way that's happening. I'm already lucky to have a second chance in life.'
I walked around the forest hoping to find some civilization or someone. I looked past the trees to see smoke.
'If there is one thing I know, when there's smoke there are people.'
I ran towards it as fast as I could hoping to see a person I can communicate with.
I had finally reached it but then I saw it. A house on fire and a green, large monster, with a weapon in its hand, standing there as it watched the house turn into ashes. Then a man rushed out of the house holding two people, a women and a child. Presumably his family. He sat infront of the monster kneeling, begging for his life.
I knew the creature wouldn't spare them after all it has done. I could try to save them, stall for them to run away but I knew I wasn't that type of person. I don't have the wit of a scholar the strength of a titan, or even courage of a hero. Right now I'm a normal person who's in a monkey';s body, unable to do anything.
The orc lifted its axe in the air killing the man in an instant. The mother and daughter followed suit.
The orc turned it's head to me, showing it's grotesque, sharp, teeth, and it's red eye's with only a pupil centered in it.
I swiftly hid behind a tree trying to avoid the same fate as that family. I wasn't going to lose this chance so easily. I crouched down and started to stealthily walk away attempting to evade the monster from detecting me.
I managed to go back to where I awakened and I leaned on a tree as I thought about what just happened. An orc had raided a house in the middle of the forest killing the family that lived there. Remembering this I puked, that was the first time I had ever seen anyone actually die infront of me.
"So it's this type of world, huh." I muttered in realization that this was a fantasy world where all your dreams of magic being real.
There were ups and down to this. First, there are monster that are way stronger than me like that orc I saw earlier, meaning it is very dangerous here. However there is a huge probability of there being magic involved in this world, so I can try doing some elemental magic if it's even possible for me.
Secondly, this means there are probably stronger variations of monkeys because there is no way in hell there are only normal ass monkeys here. There's gotta be some fire monkey or atleast enchanced ones because if there isn't then I'm truly doomed.
Lastly, I will have to do a lot of fighting if I want to make sure I become strong enough to survive.
Knowing all this I knew what my next plan of action was. Look for a weak ass monster to kill and hopefully the system will help my growth if not then I'm screwed, but it's a gamble I'm willing to take.
