Chapter 9 - Venus river guardian

Hearing the scarlet hat fairy's words about the guardian of the Venus River, it seemed impossible for them to reach out and retrieve the materials. However, Asher slowly dispelled those negative thoughts, hoping to find that last ingredient.

"Be careful, the Venus River guardian creatures are very aggressive when meeting strangers." A worried look appeared on the face of the fairy in the scarlet hat.

Asher fell silent. The scarlet hat fairy's words felt like a continuous reminder ringing in his mind. He had to be extra careful with the Venus forest river guards as they were not easy opponents.

"Ash, I think we should buy some extra things to carry." Chronos snapped his fingers. "At least buying it will be useful, right?" He patted Asher's shoulder, his voice sounding reassuring.

It was true what Chronos said. Since the last battle in the forest of Venus, they had started to run out of necessary items. Hence, they decided to leave the scarlet hat fairy and went to the vendor's shop to buy some items for themselves.

"You've bought 4x potions, 8x bombs, 8x antidotes.

Afterward, they eventually returned to the forest of Venus, trying to find the light beads. But the chaos they created had quite an impact. The Venus Forest Guard blocked their access to the Venus Forest due to their offense. The two of them had also tried to talk to the guard, but he only replied by shaking his head.

"Argh, Shit! So what should we do now?" Chronos grumbled, his face changing constantly.

"Looks like we'll have to think of another way." Asher shook his head, confusion showing on his face. "Wait, how about we go in through that cave, Chronos." Asher snapped his fingers like he had a momentary epiphany.

"That may be a good idea. I just hope we can get the beads of light quickly and complete this mission." Chronos nodded his head slowly.

They once again decided to enter through the hidden cave they had found without the knowledge of the old fairy. Silence and darkness enveloped them as they entered the cave. Asher quickened his pace inside the cave, as it seemed he didn't like being in the dark for too long. After a few minutes of walking, Asher finally felt something on his shoulder.

"Chronos, stop playing around. It's not funny." Asher sighed, annoyance showing on his face.

"Huh? What are you talking about Asher." Chronos shook his head, a confused look on his face.

Asher's face immediately became tense when he saw Chronos' position which was quite far away from him. It seemed impossible for him to touch Asher. He felt that thing still walking on his shoulders, not only on his shoulders but also on his legs and hands. It was like something was slowly walking on her body, so she decided to speed up her footsteps out of the cave.

"Oh, my! Get that thing off me!" Asher moved his body quickly, his face looking pale as he saw several small spiders walking on his body.

Asher's shout managed to make several large butterflies in the forest of Venus start moving from their positions. Chronos who had just realized that immediately covered Asher's mouth quickly and pulled him to hide among the trees.

"Damn, Ash what are you doing?" Chronos raised both eyeballs, fine wrinkles appearing on the surface of his skin.

Asher didn't reply to Chronos' words at all, he was busy removing several eight-legged creatures from his body. His face also looked paler than before. It seemed like he didn't like such creatures.

Chronos quickly helped Asher pull out some of the spiders attached to Asher's body. It was probably around 7-8 of them, and that was quite a lot. After successfully removing all the creatures from Asher's body, the two of them trampled the creatures to death.

"Ash, are you kidding me?" Chronos raised his eyebrows, a look of disbelief on his face. "You're afraid of this little spider?" He chuckled, showing a mocking expression.

"Uh yeah, but hey that creature is scary dude. It probably has poison or something, right?" Asher patted his body, making sure the little creature wasn't hanging around his body.

"Okay, I get it, but now we have to figure out how to get into the river, any ideas?" Chronos scratched his head, hoping an idea would come to mind.

"Looks like we need something to draw those creatures away from the river." Asher stroked his chin, trying to rack his brain.

Suddenly an idea came to Chronos' mind as he heard Asher's thoughts. He then took out a dull gray bag with a simple tie covering the top from his inventory. Asher who saw it had no idea what Chronos was doing, but he hoped Chronos' idea could work.

"Gosh, Chronos, what's that smell?" Asher covered his nose, his face wrinkled.

"Nectar. It's a material that is highly desired by insect-type creatures. Perhaps, we can use this." Chronos slowly untied his bag, his face quite serious.

The scent of nectar immediately became stronger and stronger. It worked. Several large butterflies began to move, searching for the source of the smell. Seeing the group of butterflies begin to move towards them, Chronos immediately threw the nectar quite far away from their position.

"Ash, this is our chance." Chronos pulled Asher's wrist, a serious look on his face.

Without lingering, they immediately left their hiding place, speeding up their footsteps towards the Venus River. A few minutes later they finally arrived at the Venus River. It seemed like everything was still safe, so they decided to jump into the river.

Shortly after, a notification popped up on Asher's screen, informing him that once they entered the water, a blue bar would appear on the left side of his screen. The blue bar represents the state of oxygen that the player has while underwater, so if the bar was running low, the player would need to return to the surface to restore oxygen levels.

Asher closed the notification and began to dive down. Being a few meters from the surface of the river, the two found nothing. He also couldn't speak underwater as it would affect his oxygen condition, so the only way was to use gestures.

Before long, something sparkling like small crystals emanated from beneath Asher. Were those the beads of light they were looking for? It might be, but Asher decided to find out for himself. He wanted to make sure that it was the thing they were looking for.

However, Asher suddenly felt something near the object. It was moving very fast, but Asher could still see its silhouette, which looked like a large fish. Unfortunately, several shots in the form of water balls shot out like bullets, managing to hit Asher and Chronos. The impact was hard enough to immediately push both of them out of the river.

"Damn, what is it?" Chronos averted his eyes, a strained expression on his face.

"I'm not sure, it all happens so fast. But I feel like it's a Venus River guardian creature." Asher shook his head, trying to recall the few fragments of events recorded in his mind.

A few minutes later, there was a strange movement on the surface of the Venus River. Slowly, a quarter of the creature's head appeared. Its eyes were blue and on its head were fins, long and sharp. The creature's eyes stared intently at the two of them as if it was unhappy with their presence.
