Chapter 3 - The oldest vampire

Ashina the vampire was looking for the oldest vampire. She had heard the stories about them, how they lived for centuries and how they re the protectors of the humans. It was her destiny, she knew, to become one of them. But where would she find them? There were so many vampires, scattered across the world. Which one was the oldest? The one that had lived the longest? That was the vampire she was meant to be.

She searched for the oldest vampire, and found him in a place where she didn't expect to find him. He was a child, no older than fifteen, with pale skin and blond hair shining in the sunlight. He was sitting under a tree, watching the passing humans as they strolled through the meadow. He was dressed in a long white shirt and black Although he looked frail, there wasn't anything weak about his voice when he called out to her.

"You must be the most beautiful thing I've seen in years," he said."I've never seen a vampire look so beautiful."

Ashina blushed, and then laughed. "You must be the oldest then." The boy stared up at her, his eyes wide and unblinking. "How do you know what I look like?""I know all vampires look the same, but you have to admit you stand out from the rest. You're the oldest, and you're the most beautiful. That's why I said it. "Thank you, but I don't want to be compared to them. They are monsters, nothing more than beasts in human skin. I am not like them, I am not a monster.I'm just a vampire, a creature of the night. I'm a predator, not a prey. I'm different." He blinked, and then she felt him tugging on her dress. "Come with me, I need your help." She followed him without question, her feet light on the ground despite the heaviness of her heart. They walked through the meadow, the boy leading the way with his pale hand outstretched to her.

They reached the edge of the me adow, and he stopped. "Here you go, my lady. Now you can rest in the shade of this tree while I talk to my father. He is the oldest, you know.He has been hunting for the last hundred years or so. He hasn't found the one he is looking for yet, but he is close. I know my father. He won't stop until he finds the vampire that has been hiding from him for centuries. And when he does find him, I will be the prize of the day.For all the vampires will be after me. I will be the most beautiful thing he has seen in years, they will say. And it will be true. For I will be the first vampire that he has seen in hundreds of years. And I will be the most beautiful thing ever." He smiled, his fangs flashing in the sunlight. "Now, I need you to help me find the others. I can take you to them, but only if you agree to help me. What do you say, my lady?""I say yes, of course. Who would refuse such an offer?

I am a creature of the night, and you are offering me the perfect rest in the shade of a tree during the day. What could be more beautiful than that?""Good. Now, I need you to follow me. I will lead you to the others. You will be my eyes and ears on the ground.
