And then, at last, a breeze stirred, and the fog dispersed like vanishing smoke, revealing the clear daylight. There was no enemy in sight closer than the base of the hill, and I felt somewhat foolish for having been so afraid. I surmised that the enemy had called off their attack when our javelins struck them, possibly thinking our mages had seen through the fog. Regardless, Kasrin ordered us back to our task of digging ditches and piling dirt. This work lasted only a couple of minutes before the enemy began advancing up the hill in numbers.

Aeldor started whistling but stopped abruptly. Speransky's expression was now a familiar sight.
