Chapter 96 - Behind Enemy Lines

Opal guided us past the enemy's guards, and I could sense that my small team was unaware of Opal's role; they simply followed my lead, which was for the best. Once we were beyond the guards, we had to stay concealed until Opal and I could locate the cook-tent. We made our way into the enemy camp, and I instructed the others to wait while Opal and I conducted our search. The supply wagons were conveniently close to the mess-tent, which was both advantageous and problematic for our mission. The cook-tent's proximity to the river, less than thirty yards away, was a favorable factor.

"Well? Are they guarded?" I asked Opal.

"Four guards, Boss. They're patrolling around the wagons and the tent. Shall we use the same trick as last time? That was enjoyable," Opal suggested.

"No. There's too much risk they've figured it out. And I won't debate your definition of 'enjoyable'," I replied.

"What then?"

"We wait."
