The next day Naomi woke up at her usual time, changed her clothes and went downstairs for breakfast after freshening up. She was once again greeted by the sight of the family of three enjoying their breakfast happily. Naomi had tacitly avoided wearing the new clothes and wore the comfortable clothes that she usually wore at home so as to not let Winona mess with her wardrobe before she even got a chance to show her changed dressing style in public. As soon as she reached the dining table Lillian's pretentious voice rang out "Sister happy birthday. You turned ten years old. It's such a pity that mom and dad are having financial issues and hence won't be able to even celebrate your birthday. Sister, how about I buy you a birthday cake instead?". Naomi hid her hatred and replied "It's okay there is no need to buy me a cake, I would be going out with my friend afterwards and later in the evening Richard would be visiting to celebrate my birthday with me" At this Lillian''s smile froze in her face, she hated that Richard was Naomi's fiance instead of her's. Lillian asked with a stiff smile " Sister, would you be going out for dinner with Richard?" Naomi nodded thus making Lillian feel even more uncomfortable. Lillian felt immense hatred in her heart and she immediately spoke to Winona in a coquettish voice "Mom isn't it bad for Naomi to be alone with Richard, won't that lead to rumors thus causing damage to her reputation?". Winona instantly agreed with Lillian and said "Naomi, what Lillian said is right, men and women should not be alone before getting married. Why don't you take your sister along that way you young people can enjoy without restriction as well as your reputation won't get affected".
At that Naomi felt glad that the fish had taken the bait, she had purposely brought up the topic of going out with Richard as she knew that Lillian would definitely try to tag along out of jealousy. Naomi would use this opportunity to help create chances for Lillian to spend some time with Richard. Naomi smiled and said "Let's do as you suggested mom". After breakfast Naomi went back to her room and called up her best friend Gina, as she thought about Gina many memories came flooding to Naomi's mind. In her last life Gina was the only one who had treated Naomi with sincerity. She stood up for Naomi many times whenever she was bullied by people.
Gina came from a family equally wealthy as the Smith's, she was the only daughter of the Brown family. She was the same age as Naomi and had an extremely outgoing and frank personality. She hated the fake kindness of Lillian and had advised Naomi many times to stay away from Lillian. In her last life Naomi broke her friendship with Gina two years later as she felt that Gina was trying to sow discord between Naomi and her family. Naomi now totally regretted her decision of leaving Gina. She decided that she would cherish this pure friendship with Gina in this lifetime. As soon as Gina answered her call Naomi made plans with her to visit the mall and go window shopping and then have lunch outside. Gina instantly accepted the plans they made and decided on the time to meet. After disconnecting the call Naomi's eyes showed determination to get rich and powerful. She decided that she would celebrate today's day with her best friend as not only her birthday but also her rebirth.
Naomi changed into a pair of casual clothes. She wore washed off blue jeans paired with white t-shirts and shoes. She tied her hair up in a ponytail and looked at her reflection in the mirror. She looked absolutely stunning even without any makeup. She had clear porcelain skin and silky straight hair that reached up to her waist. She was satisfied with her looks. She picked up her handbag and walked out of her room to meet Gina who would meet her directly at the mall. When she came downstairs Lillian was stunned looking at Naomi as she looked really stunning and elegant. Anger rose to her heart and she clenched her fist trying to hide her anger. She asked Naomi with her voice slightly raised so as to alert Winona about what was going on in the living room "Sister where did you get these clothes from? they don't look like your usual style?"
When Winona heard what Lillian said she rushed downstairs to see Naomi dressed up beautifully, anyone who saw Naomi dressed like this would instantly find her beautiful. Winona asked Naomi with her tone raised to show her anger saying "Naomi what are these cheap clothes you are wearing they don't look decent at all. You look like someone who likes to go around seducing men. Naomi put on an innocent expression and looked down at her clothes and asked with a wronged tone "Mom Lillian always wears such clothes, so does she also look like a cheap girl who goes out to seduce men?" Winona and Lillian were instantly rendered speechless, but they could not let Naomi outshine Lillian. So Winona said to Naomi in an annoyed tone "Naomi I am saying this for your own good, Lillian can wear those clothes because she looks good in those clothes while these clothes don't suit you at all". Naomi put on a sad face and lowered her head as if she realized her mistake. Naomi walked up the stairs and went to her room.
Lillian showed a smug smile and thought how dare an adoptive daughter try to outshine me? She was extremely satisfied with her plans as she was able to make Naomi change out of her clothes and again wear those ugly revealing clothes. Winona felt relieved that she came on time and stopped Naomi from going out in those clothes as that would ruin her plans.
