Chapter 2 - Chapter 2 : Tragedy

However, the attack was successfully parried by King Joel and he quickly counterattacked by quickly stabbing the charioteer in the chest until the coachman died.

The situation was getting tense, the king decided to ask the queen to get out of the carriage. "We'd better get off!" He said to Queen Veronica.

As he had expected, when King Joel and Queen Veronica got off the chariot, there were about ten to fifteen people already surrounding them. All of them were preparing to attack the king and queen.

They were all dressed in black. Some wore veils and only their eyes were visible, the rest wore white masks with two holes in the eyes.

King Joel looked at the hands of the mysterious criminals one by one. "In their hands, why is there that symbol? I seem to have seen it on someone's hand..."

One of them then attacked the Queen suddenly, but the attack was successfully parried by the king. Deftly, the King managed to protect his Queen. Then from another direction, someone attacked her again. Queen Veronica was pushed back because the king deliberately pushed her so that she would not be too close to the enemy's attack. Queen Veronica's back hit the side of the carriage due to the king's push. Standing while pointing his sword at the mysterious villains, King Joel prepared to risk his life to protect his wife.

It seemed that the leader of this group of criminals knew very well that the passenger of the carriage was a former tough war commander in the past, so he brought fifteen men to kill just two people.

A clash of swords between King Joel and the fifteen outlaws ensued. As if he had no fear, the king bravely faced the fifteen men alone. One by one, he managed to defeat the criminals with various great sword techniques that he mastered.

About thirty minutes passed. A fierce battle between King Joel who protected Queen Veronica against the mysterious group of criminals. The king managed to kill approximately 7 of their members. He looked exhausted and wounded, his shirt had blood stains in several parts "Huft... Huft...huff... they are too many." The king's body was trembling as if his hands were unable to lift his sword anymore. "Stay close to me, I will protect you." The king said to the queen who looked calm despite the situation.

"Yes, I trust you."

Suddenly one of the enemies who was wearing a face cover managed to stab the queen from behind, and the king was caught off guard. The enemy's sword pierced the queen's back waist, until it penetrated the front abdomen, and the queen died in front of the king.

At the end of her time of life, the queen looked up at the sky. She saw a faint figure of Sarah sitting on the throne as the queen of the Sun kingdom palace accompanied by her brother who looked dashing wearing royal clothes and carrying a sword. Sarah's face looked colder and sterner.

The queen was relieved by her own imagination as if she saw her favorite daughter growing into the figure she dreamed of. "What a pity... I wanted to have a long life so that I could see my twins grow up... I really wanted to live longer..." Queen Veronika said silently. The queen smiled and then died peacefully.

The king, who had nothing more to say, was furious. The king's eyes suddenly became sharper.

"HYAA!!!" The king shouted as he swung his sword at his enemy. However, when their eyes met, the king who was about to slash the enemy's neck suddenly stopped, he realized something "You... are a woman..." The king muttered in a low voice.

When the king was caught off guard, another enemy stabbed him from behind. The king and queen were killed in the battle. With the sword still stuck and the remaining energy the king tried to do something, his left index finger seemed to be making a pattern on the part of the shirt that was not stained with blood.

He suddenly remembered the scorpion symbol. "Damn... I was caught off guard.....even though I had remembered it..." As a memory of the scorpion symbol flashed through his mind, he recalled the hand of someone who had the same tattoo as the criminals. He was sure that the hand he remembered was the hand of someone who worked in his palace.

Instantly, his memory of training with Kenway in sword techniques flashed. Then it turned to the memory with Sarah. The king used to often teach her to ride a horse secretly unbeknown to the queen and taught her about books that were difficult for Sarah to understand.

"Sarah, Kenway... thank goodness if they grow up to be great people. This way, I can die in peace… Kenway... I hope he can become a strong protector of the kingdom..."

The king's finger seemed to have stopped moving, he had finished making a pattern on his white shirt, so the scorpion symbol was quite obvious. He used his blood when drawing. "I guess... this is enough...

The king and queen died in battle.

The surviving villains petrified the wounded to stand up. "Our job is done. Now it's time to return to headquarters and report to the boss."

A few days later...

In a part of the forest area near the Sun Kingdom, a man with a simple appearance was walking through the main road connecting the kingdoms, he was walking on the edge. The man seemed just returned from trading. He seemed to be counting his profits. As he walked, he said, "Since Queen Veronika opened the route to the Baron Kingdom, the sales of small merchants like me have increased..." He said gratefully.

The man was a woven cloth merchant who lived in a rural area of the Sun Kingdom. Today, he was returning to see his family for the first time after about two weeks of trading in the other country.

Originally, some poor merchants in the Sun Kingdom had complained to the queen, especially the weaving merchants. The lack of wood fiber and silk in the Sun Kingdom made the weavers unemployed, as the basic materials were lacking. In addition, the people there had little interest in woven cloth. They were so used to it, they didn't consider it a luxury anymore. As a result, many of the woven fabric merchants there lived in poverty.

However, Queen Veronica, who was deft in dealing with problems in various fields, including the economy, opened cooperation with regions that had many sources of wood fiber and silk. With her great political strategy, the queen was able to speak to make the other party reluctant and willing to open cooperation with her. After the basic ingredients of silk were fulfilled, the queen opened access to the Baron kingdom, where previously the kingdom was a kingdom that was closed from the outside world for some reason.

After cooperating, the queen finally sent several types of merchants to sell in the Baron Kingdom, while improving the economy of its citizens.

So it was only natural that the people in the Baron Kingdom were very interested in the goods sold by merchants from the kingdom of the Sun because they had previously closed their territory to several parties.

"The people there are very very friendly, the people like the woven cloth made by me, especially the nobles there, they admire the woven cloth made by me as if the woven cloth is gold haha..." The merchant continued talking to himself, this time he couldn't contain his excitement to the point that the merchant laughed a little.

Satisfied with calculating his profits, the merchant put his money into the small pouch he was carrying and focused on his steps. Not long after, he noticed something strange in the distance.

"Hmm?!" He muttered while frowning, looking confused.

He approached slowly what he saw, the closer he got, the more he realized what he saw. His footsteps accelerated as he breathed rapidly.

When he arrived nearby, his face looked panicked, turning pale. His stomach felt sick at the sight of the blood that was splattered all around.

There were two corpses dressed in all black and wearing masks lying on the ground with blood and swords stuck in each of their chests. The sight was certainly unusual for the merchant, his stomach turning queasy as he smelled the pungent scent of blood.

This border road was rarely used by people, so there was no one around. The confused merchant could only turn his head to the right and left. Confused.

In the end, he vomited because he couldn't stand the smell of the corpse.

"What happened here?" He said while observing. "Who are they, there seems to have been a big fight here." He continued while looking at the corpses with panic.

The merchant then looked around.

He continued to look around, as far as the eye could see all he saw were dried blood spots on the ground as well as some weapons that were also covered in dried blood spots as well.

Not far away, as his eyes looked in another direction, he found another corpse lying a few steps away from the two corpses. The corpse also had the same appearance as the previous two corpses, namely all black clothes. The merchant then hurriedly approached it.

Once he arrived near the corpse, he observed for a moment and then pressed his right ear against the chest of the corpse because there seemed to be something else about it. The merchant felt that the man was still alive.

After a few seconds of putting his ear to the chest of the lying person, he said "He's still alive!" Then raised his head again "I must immediately help him and report to the palace." He continued.

The merchant then carried the person behind, more precisely on the back. Before leaving, the merchant looked back, watching the two corpses he left behind.

"Sorry, I can only carry one person..." The merchant said with a look of disappointment mixed with fear. "I'll report and they'll be on their way, just wait." The merchant continued to the two corpses.
