Chapter 26 - Chapter 25: Wild

He looked at me darkly, and I stared back at him. Deep stillness occupied the dark forest. As I stood there, it felt like time stopped; the wind didn't blow; the trees stood still; and the echoes of insects and animals were silenced. I felt a spewing of a dark aura spreading across the woods. He still stood still, but his head lowered. I can't tell what his face looked, his dark aura started spreading throughout the forest, i can hear groans and heavy breathing near the area i got alarmed 'they still didn't leave!' I frowned, then walked toward the man with a single strand of dark aura running over to my legs. I heard him call out, "Where are you going?"

I stopped. It doesn't want me to move. His voice is monotonous. This is uncontrollable darkness. I annoyingly thought, 'Why are you on autopilot now?' I stilled my body; sweat drips down my head. 'I think I ran quite fast earlier; now I'm drowning in sweat.' I looked behind me and then spoke, "Calm down, let's talk here; let me just clear out the people around us. Your aura makes them weak; they can barely breathe; even standing up is futile."

I saw Christian tilt his head a little bit. I saw his eyes that turned black, looking at me with stillness and feeling the dark aura reside, but they are still occupying the forest. His gaze never corrupted. I walked over and picked up the mage on my back. "Uughh.. such heavy pain in the ***." I walked a little bit in sight of Christian and threw it to Letlicias, who could move. "You guys need to leave as for him; lock him up; we are still not done." I looked at them and thought, Some of them are actually trained to hold up the dark aura of the demon lord, which is impressive, and they all looked at me with hesitation.

I told them, "You will never be of help here; stay out first and wait for us at the foot of the hill." I could see them making a decision; they are still a little hesitant, but I persuaded them. They all went back to looking at me like I was some kind of martyr; they must have experienced the chaos that a dark aura could cause if they were left unattended.

I walked back towards Christian; he was still in a daze. I stopped when I was nearing the dark, clouded aura. He looked at me and then asked, "Are you finished?" I looked at him, and I could feel his voice of clarity; he is trying to control the dark aura. I walked up to him, the dark aura backing off, then reached up to him and held his face. I asked, "Can you still hold up?" He stared at me, and I waited for a response.

Then he nudged my hands with his face resting on the palm of my hand, and he kissed them. He finally relaxed, and then I will use my holy spirit to purify some of these remnants of uncontrollable darkness. That was nerve-wracking. I closed my eyes to help me focus on what my goal was, and I made my holy powers condense. It started out small, but as I got used to it, the whole area started to get purified. This is exhausting; I barely use these powers, but I practice on my own. I could feel Christian's gaze on me starting to get less sharp, and I thought, The warmth has finally arrived.

I didn't sweat this time, but I felt lethargic, like an introvert got stuck being invited to a celebration they couldn't avoid and didn't even know it lasted for a week, but then my stomach grumbled in protest. 'Why do you have to raise the banner now?' I thought about shedding some tears. I looked up at him, smiling. I got annoyed and said, "We are not done yet", I pinched his cheeks and then placed my hands on his shoulder because I was getting tired. As I was about to relax, he hooked his arms around my waist. I yelped then he spoke. "So where have you heard those words? Hmm."

He pulls me closer to him, and I try to push him away, but he won't budge. He watched me wiggle out of his grasp, then he lowered his head and whispered in my ear, "Answer me." I moved my head sideways, avoiding his deep, sultry voice. 'He knew my weakness with deep voices and especially my sensitivity with my ears.' The wind blew. Then, in the moonlight, I could see his eyes, which were still as dark as a black obsidian gemstone. My hair all stood up, and I nervously chuckled with my dry voice. My head started giving me my eulogy, and I gulped. 'How am I going to survive this?'

Why is this guy still clouded with a dark aura? I just said one line he told the demon king—how terrifying. I didn't know he would suddenly go out of control. Why is that happening? I suddenly felt one of his hands just slide up my back, causing me to have goosebumps and cutting me off from my mind. I saw him chuckle in his deep voice, making me feel like I was a doe being played by a predator. He looked at me and said, "Have you thought about your excuse?" He said it with a cold smile.

I thought about something, hugged him tight, looked up to him, and then spoke, "You'll answer my question first? Then I'll answer yours next." I smiled since he wouldn't let go. How about just hugging tighter? 'Christian is extremely adverse to skinship; we do stick together, but if I initiate it, he backs away most of the time'. But to my surprise, he hugged me even tighter. I forgot that he was still influenced by the dark aura. 'He is the demon lord. Can't he just control this?' Then he placed his head over my shoulder and blew on my ears. "Deal".
