Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: Stubborn

You're still going to hide it!" his pained voice said, looking at me dark and enraged. I shivered and looked away. 'The Duke destroyed any file that I'm involved in'. "The Duke is a sly fox; he recorded it again; all past associations in which he was involved were written and compiled; the magic recorder is just a bluff to make people trust him more," he said while looking at me i shivered I looked at him aghast.

"I don't know what you're talking about." I look up to him. Our height difference is not much, but I still need to look him in the eyes. He looked down on me, his gray and blue eyes scrutinizing my expression and body language. I tried to stay as calm as I could—'I don't know him anymore'. I looked down again. I heard him sigh. He took off one of his robes. Seeing him wearing a white robe and undergarments, his clothes barely covered his chest. I asked him, "Are you not cold?" He covered my shoulders with the robe. He answered, "No." He hates the cold.

He held my hand and said, "Let's go". We walked back to the castle inside the white room, and he led me to the bed. He walked out, came back with a basin filled with water, and asked me to wash my face. The water was refreshing—hmm, the water was receding before I took notice. He took the bowl of water and wet towels to my feet and started cleaning them. He is really gentle when handling them. Then I realized he is a king. "Your Highness, The king of Deruthika, Founded Letlicia, is wiping the foot of a lady like a servant; what would the people say if it were known?" I giggled. He replied, "Nothing. They would say nothing." He smiled.

"Why? You are the Empire. All your actions are for the people. You rule and guide. Wiping a person's feet can damage your reputation, your highness," I said, bothered. I'm not wrong; this could be used to defame someone with high status, Historically speaking. "It will not," he replied as he continued to caress my foot. He continued speaking "I abolished the absolute monarchy, then continued the ruling by the presidential republic".

That Impossible transition from monocracy to presidency is not an easy feat. People in general, even nobles, would never look at the king as an equal being, including the law and order, which would not change unless—I asked, "How many years have passed?" He trembled, stopped wiping for a moment, then continued, "100 years," he answered. I looked at him dumbfounded, and he repeated his words "It's been 100 years since the day you died". I shouted, "A Century has passed!" I shouted, I'm extremely surprised; I never expected a hundred years to have gone by. "Your Highness, How are you?, we??"— Alive… I asked in jumbled.

"We are not humans," he replied. 'I'm not surprised anymore; I get spooked every time this man mentions something'. "What are you?" I asked. He took the basin that was full before; now it's half-way empty. He ran away. I looked at the ceiling, trying to recall the past in detail. 'I remembered that the demon king once terrorized the kingdom. What happened' then as I drifted to sleep? Christian returned and saw her lying down on the bed unguarded. He looked at the window, and a shadow appeared. A person wearing a butler outfit showed up, then Christian said, Kill all the pests that got here; never let anyone know she has woken up". "Yes, sir," they replied, then left, vanishing without a trace. He laid on the bed beside her, covered her blanket, and saw her smile. He smiled and said, "The church is lusting over your spiritual energy. You don't even know you have one. Don't worry, I'm here." His gaze sharpened dangerously, and he hugged her tight; no gaps could be seen.
