Chapter 10 - Master Bo

Fang Yuan donned the surgical mask, obscuring most of her face, revealing only a pair of clear and captivating eyes. Serene and composed, she exuded an aura of authority akin to that of a seasoned chief surgeon.

"Take your positions," Fang Yuan commanded.

"Prepare for anesthesia."

"Disinfect the skin."

"Pass me the scalpel."

Fang Yuan directed Chen Yang, her orders leaving the doctor taken aback.

"Can this girl really possess medical knowledge?"

"There shouldn't be any issues with this step…"

"Is it possible she's just mimicking what she's seen on TV? Don't hold your breath." Su Jing's skepticism was laced with sarcasm. In her mind, if this girl had the power to save lives, she could probably ingest scalpels as well.

Though some held onto a glimmer of hope for Fang Yuan, their confidence wavered when they noticed the scalpel clutched in her left hand. Panic began to ripple through the room.

"What's wrong with her? Is she left-handed?"

"Left-handed individuals aren't as proficient with knives in their non-dominant hand!"

"If she's right-handed and using her left hand, then she must be out of her mind!"

"She's disregarding the seriousness of the surgery! Professor Wang, how can you put your faith in the words of a little girl? We're doomed!"

No one would dare to undertake such a critical operation with their non-dominant hand.

Observing the girl gripping the scalpel in her left hand, Chen Yang was astounded. He distinctly remembered that Fang Yuan was right-handed. Could her right hand be injured?

The elderly man had undergone numerous heart transplantations, causing his heart structure to deviate from that of an ordinary person. Startling everyone, Fang Yuan boldly made a direct incision through the sternum.

"Even seasoned doctors wouldn't dare to do that. This girl is incredibly composed. Could she really be just a little girl?"

"The precision of her first cut is astonishing…"

"She's so fast, accurate, and unyielding!"

Even Su Jing couldn't help but be taken aback. She muttered, "How is this possible?" It was hard to believe that Fang Yuan wasn't a seasoned professional.

As Fang Yuan opened the sternum, she discovered the old man's heart riddled with scars. The blood vessels were disarrayed, making it difficult to discern their original positions. Moreover, the heart had adhered closely to the sternum, lacking the protection of the pericardium.

Chen Yang glanced at the situation and realized its severity. He had been concerned that Fang Yuan might struggle with where to begin, but she remained remarkably composed, flawlessly attending to every detail.

"Let's delve into the specifics," Professor Wang spoke, his surprise mingled with anticipation for what would come next.

Diligently, Fang Yuan meticulously detached the adhesions between the heart and the sternum's posterior wall—the most challenging part of the procedure. Considering the old man's current condition, even experienced doctors would require several hours to navigate it. However, for Fang Yuan, half an hour proved sufficient.

With her head lowered and her eyes sparkling, she exuded an air of unwavering confidence.

The entire medical team held their breath, well aware of the formidable task at hand. A single mistake could jeopardize the heart tissue or damage one of the blood vessels, spelling disaster.

Meanwhile, a group of individuals appeared in the hospital corridor. The man at the forefront appeared to be in his early twenties, emanating an exceptionally commanding presence. Possessing sharp eyebrows, a prominent nose bridge, and exquisite features, he exuded an air of icy nobility, radiating an extraordinary aura.

The medical staff instantly recognized him, respectfully stepping back and addressing him, "Master Bo, you have arrived."

Then, his gaze fell upon the six or seven distinguished cardiovascular specialists accompanying him, each renowned in their field. Only Master Bo possessed the influence to assemble such a remarkable team from across the country within such a short span of time.

"Old Master Bo's condition has deteriorated. Although the pneumonia is finally under control, he is now experiencing heart failure," Professor Wang respectfully reported. "During today's examination, we discovered indications of prosthetic valve rejection, endocarditis, and paravalvular leakage…"

Bo Yi's gaze shifted towards the chief surgeon in the operating room, his expression cold and detached.

Although she wore a mask, exposing only a pair of clear eyes, it was evident that she couldn't be more than 20 years old.

"And who might she be?" Bo Yi's question hung in the air, his tone devoid of warmth.

Professor Wang's heart skipped a beat as his gaze followed Bo Yi's line of sight. Revealing the truth could potentially cost him dearly.

Assistant Mu Qing interjected angrily, "How can there be such a young surgeon in this hospital? On my way here, I heard rumors of a high school student set to operate on Old Master Bo. That must be her, right? How can Renyi Hospital be so irresponsible? They disregard the doctor's qualifications and experience, allowing anyone with audacity to perform surgery on Old Master Bo? Do they have a death wish?"

"Assistant Mu, it's not what you think…" Professor Wang stammered, his legs trembling in fear. He desperately wanted to explain himself but couldn't find the right words.

The doctors in the observation room were all dumbfounded, their shock palpable.
