"The bookstore is still a long way from its grand opening," Lin Gantang said. "After you left, did you go to work at the cat café and bookstore?"
"I was more familiar with the bookstore's work. After the fire, the manager from the cat café and bookstore came to ask me if I wanted to work there." Xiao Yang scratched his face. "I have elderly parents above and young children below. I couldn't afford to sit around and look for a new job slowly, so I impulsively agreed in the moment."
Lin Gantang nodded in understanding. "Then why did you resign?"
Xiao Yang sighed. "Because I couldn't reconcile it with my conscience. I had worked there for a while and found that the person in charge didn't care about the cats' lives. I advised them a few times, but ended up being alienated. I couldn't stand their practices, nor did I want to take any more insults, so I simply quit."
