Chapter 49 - WARS OF WARS

Following the massive magical explosion on the island, a vast crater, plummeting a staggering 100,000 feet deep, emerges. As the smoke dissipates, a colossal monster adorned with three faces, six arms, and six legs soars high above the crater. The combined faces of Henry, Volk, and Rudda chant incantations, casting a spell. Meanwhile, at the campsite, Michael heaves Mai's van back into position. Mai enters the van, her demeanor devoid of emotion, taking her seat and patiently waiting for her bug cameras to pick up the fallen computer screens as one by one the computer screens comes back online. Displayed on the screens are the crater and the monster hovering over it. Concerned, Michael urges Mai that everyone should retreat before the monster launches an attack. In response, Mai accuses Michael of cowardice for abandoning his family to die. Tears well up in Michael's eyes as he contends that he can't afford to meet the same fate as the others, as he is obligated by his promise to Frank to protect Mai at any cost. Mai declares their refusal to retreat, saying that base on Kiren's information about Adam, their Special Star will return to defeat the monster.

In Adam's realm, he approaches a luminous tree from which the radiant orb, Gand, descends. Adam questions why he hasn't been resurrected yet. Gand responds, advising Adam not to be so hasty, expressing his interest in the monster that just came to life and that monster is possessing a blend of generation family magic, that is titled "Tower", combined with ancient magic, and zombie magics—a convergence Gand finds unprecedented. He expresses a desire to observe the creature's intentions. Gazing at the sky's depiction of monster casting a spell over the vast crater, Adam then wonders if any of his family members survived. The older Adam then joins them, expressing that he is surprised to see that Adam shows concern for others despite harboring considerable hatred within or even call others his own family.

Back to reality, at the bottom of the vast crater, a massive cube sits in the center, submerged in a feet of water. The walls of this cube collapse, revealing Megan and the rest, all unharmed. Rex sinks to his knees, much of his robot armor having dissipated due to his expended magical energy. Overwhelmed with emotion, Rex begins to weep, lamenting that he may never able to get Robo Mall back to working. Stella expresses concern about Jean's whereabouts. Agustin quickly leaves the platform to search for him. Kiren gazes upward, taking about the depth of the crater, expressing disbelief at the complete disappearance of the island and the looming threat posed by the monster. Mikey questions how they'll defeat the combined monster of Henry, Volk, and Rudda after struggling against Rudda's monster. Megan reassures the group, stating their reliance on Adam's return. Rex counters, saying that Adam was easily killed by that monster and that no one could ever come back to life from that. Kiren then says with determination that Adam is "Special" and that he is there Special Star.

Agustin shouts out from afar as he discovers Jean lying on the ground submerged in a feet of water. Upon everyone but Megan and Ezzy, rushes to check on him, they find him injured and still breathing. Rex expresses disbelief, stating that surviving such a powerful magical explosion head-on seems impossible, especially given Jean's current magical strength. Near by on the platform Ezzy questions Megan about the unusual occurrences in her body. Megan proceeds to explain that Ezzy's lineage, the Nova clan, bears a curse imposed by a God, the fire curse. This curse transfers from Nova parents to their offspring upon their death. Additionally, Megan clarifies that only human blood temporarily pacifies this curse and that over time, more human blood becomes necessary. Ezzy recalls an instance when she ended Hue's life, absorbing his blood, which subdued the fire curse. She also recollects a moment during the altercation with Rudda, where an injury caused severe bleeding, triggering an uncontrollable surge in her internal flames.

Megan explains that if a Nova fails to consume human blood within a certain timeframe, or if they perish, the internal flames within their body will erupt. This triggers Ezzy's recollection of the moment Luka fatally wounded her mother, Ember, causing her to burst into flames. This memory is followed by Hue's lamentation about being undeserving of becoming part of Ezzy's family's livestock. This sequence of memories leads Ezzy to comprehend why her family captured people and that they wanted her to live a easier life as long as possible without the fire curse. Overcome with realization, Ezzy tearfully apologizes to her parents aloud. Megan comforts Ezzy by patting her back in an attempt to soothe her distress.

The colossal monster hovering above the expansive crater maintains its enchantment while a magical door materializes before it. This magical door gradually expands to match the immense size of the monster. Volk's face, embedded within the creature, expresses sorrow over facing the Tower without any remaining of his Rider army. Henry's face on the monster, reassures Volk, urging him not to worry, promising a return of them all with even more formidable power, stating that he has already absorbed all the Rider's life energy. Initiating a different incantation, Henry causes the monster's six arms and six legs to tremble. An eruption of magic envelops the creature, birthing numerous smaller winged monsters that burst forth from its body.

Henry spots Megan and the surviving companions beneath the crater, he also looks to a distant view to see Mai and her allies at the forest camps. He looks further beyond to see Old Berry Town, where Nhia and the townsfolk reside. Determined, Henry declares their intent to end both war simultaneously. Subsequently, more monsters comes out of the giant monster that goes into the expansive crater, The giant monster also dispatches monsters into the forest toward the camps, and unleashes monsters advancing towards Old Berry Town. The completion of the spell heralds the opening of the giant magic door, revealing the figure of the elderly man and the entrance to the Tower realm, 100s of winged monsters then soars into the Tower realm through the opening. Disapprovingly, the old man shakes his head, lamenting the disgrace of their new generation's bloodline and their collective downfall. He forcefully strikes his walking cane onto the floor, conjuring a potent magical barrier that incinerates the incoming winged creatures. From the monster's enormous hand emerging from the door, many more monsters emerges and rushes toward the formidable force field. One of the monsters transitions to standing on two legs, its form morphing into that of a black humanoid rabbit-like monster. The rabbit-like creature quickly navigates through the force field with minimal harm. Subsequently, the elderly man confronts the rabbit monster, and they engage in a series of exchanges, trading attacks in a fierce confrontation.

Meanwhile, within the crater, Megan and the group witness hundreds of monsters descending upon them, each landing with a resounding splash. Everyone swiftly assumes their battle-ready stances, prepared to confront this oncoming horde. Simultaneously, in the forest camps, Mai utilizes her van's speakers to caution everyone about the imminent threat of hundreds of monsters approaching. A vigilant soldier notices a monster advancing toward their position and opens fire, prompting an onslaught as numerous other creatures emerge from the forest, leading all the soldiers to discharge their firearms. Mai, Michael, Rune, Simbad, and Nakao quickly joins the fray, entering the battle with their weapons.

In this moment, Henry, represented on the monster's form, feels elation witnessing the favorable progression of both both wars. However, Rudda, urgently warns of impending danger. Henry becomes aware of magical sparks overhead, and in a grand surge of magic, Adam's body reforms. With swift action, Adam summons his white-scaled bat and plunges downwards, severing the monster's hand that was inside the giant magic door. This action results in the abrupt closure of the door, prompting Adam to strike the monster's chest, sending it crashing against the crater's edge. As the numerous winged monsters surround him, Adam effortlessly dispatches them all with precise swings of his bat.

Emerging from the crater's side, the monster swiftly advances toward Adam, who likewise rushes toward the creature. However, just before their collision, Adam locks eyes with Rudda, Volk, and Henry's gazes within the monster's head. Their connection triggers an immense surge of white magic that blankets everything within a radius of 100000 meters, stunning all beings and surroundings. Within this dazzling magic, a sudden revelation of the past unfolds—a scene visible to everyone present. The vision unveils Volk and his riders invading the mansion, the scene shifts to the basement where Mikey struggles to forcefully break through the heavy locked door ahead. Hue, visibly in pain, steadies himself and approaches Mikey. Surrounding prisoners take notice and plead for their rescue. Amid his attempts to break through, Mikey reassures them of his commitment to saving everyone once he locates the key. Finally breaking down the door, he assists in carrying Hue to safety. Amid the crowd of captives, Rudda is among them, cradling Henry in her lap. Tenderly touching Henry's face, she expresses concern for his current state.

The imprisoned individuals detect approaching footsteps, assuming it's Mikey returning. However, upon inspection, they spot a different figure in a hoodie bearing a crown symbol on the back. As he traverses the area, the prisoners implore him to rescue them, reaching out for help. He graciously touches each extended hand as he walks by, progressing past all the cells until he reaches Rudda in the final one. Rudda's cellmate rushes forward as the man touches him, while Rudda eyes the hooded figure warily, cautioning him to keep his distance. Despite her warning, the man smiles, waves, and with a display of magic, effortlessly passes through the wall.

Rudda becomes aware of numerous prisoners within their cells undergoing a transformation into zombies. The transformed beings relentlessly push against the bars, striving to break free. Witnessing her cellmate's transformation and his subsequent attack on them, Rudda engages in a brief struggle before gaining control and forcefully smashing the zombie's head against the wall. Blood splatters across her face, and amidst this, she hears Henry's voice. Turning to him, she discovers a bite mark on Henry's arm. Embracing him tightly, Rudda notices other zombies breaking free from their cells, congregating at her cell door in an attempt to breach it. With unwavering composure, Rudda assures Henry of her commitment to protect him. As the zombies finally burst through her cell door, they launch themselves at Rudda and Henry.

The scene shifts to Volk leading his Riders in a heated battle against the zombies in the corridor. Their journey leads them to the prison room, where Jarvis, gripping Mikey, coerces him to guide them. Mikey gestures down the prison room, drawing Volk's attention to the blood-streaked cells. Volk advances cautiously, dispatching a few zombies with his chainsaw sword as he proceeds. Upon reaching the end, he encounters numerous deceased zombies scattered on the floor. Peering into a cell, he witnesses zombies restrained by needle-like blades up against the walls, and amidst them he then sees, Rudda with many bite wounds on her back while she's holding onto Henry, as he has already turned into a zombie. Overwhelmed with emotion, Volk breaks down in tears at the sight of his wife and son in such a state. As he observes Rudda's movement, she turns to him, her eyes emanating a magical glow, and launches needle blades at him using her magic. Reacting quickly, Volk deflects the blades with his sword and desperately calls out Rudda's name. In response to his call, Rudda ceases her attack, finally recognizing Volk and utters his name.

The scene gradually fades as the vision concludes, followed by Adam and the giant monster emitting anguished screams before abruptly vanishing in a magical explosion. The expansive white magic spanning a 100000-meter radius slowly dissipates as the battles persist in both the forest camp and the crater. Amidst the chaos, Ezzy forcefully strikes a monster with a fire punch, querying Megan if she witnessed the same revelation. Confirming Ezzy's inquiry, Megan explains that it's one of Adam's unique magical abilities—he can witness to how an A-Star zombie came to be, upon making eye contact with it. Meanwhile, Kiren, dispatching a winged monster with his hammer, comments on the exceptional power possessed by Adam and the three-faced zombie monster, indicating their ability to trigger Adam's magic to be able to reveal it all to everyone.

Mikey decapitates a monster before joining Ezzy, expressing his prior struggle to discuss about Hue back at Old Berry Town. He admits his disbelief in Ezzy being inherently malicious, attributing differences to her upbringing by unconventional parents. Ezzy reassures him, suggesting that discovering this truth in this manner might of been the best way. Amidst the conversation, Rex utilizes a robotic arm to fire lasers at encroaching monsters, urging them to focus on the ongoing battle rather than conversations. Meanwhile, Megan employs her wind-based magic to tear through numerous monsters around her. However, her attention is seized when one of the monsters rises to it's feet, transforming into Jarvis with a darker, monstrous appearance. Jarvis remarks on their unending show of pain and pleasure. Undeterred, Megan, fueled by determination, declares her intent to kill him once more. She charges forward, enveloped in formidable magic, ready to confront Jarvis and the horde of monsters gathered behind him.

Meanwhile, within the forest camps, Mai and her companions engage in a fierce battle against the encroaching monsters. Mai observes the grim scene as many soldiers and some maids fall victim to the relentless onslaught, slowly being overrun by the overwhelming numbers of creatures. In a desperate attempt to flee, Michael seizes Mai and attempts to escape, but she resists and shoots him in the head, and says that she rather die here instead of die running. Michael clutches his bleeding wound, panicked by the advancing monsters, he conjures a protective dome of lightning around himself and Mai, creating a barrier against the creatures. With her gun aimed at Michael's heart, Mai demands that he dispel the dome, yet Michael refuses. Convinced that their group will die due to Michael's reluctance to unleash his full magical potential, Mai questions him, probing what happened to the determined Michael who once tried to save her from Simon. Caught amidst the chaos and witnessing their allies' fall, Michael struggles to respond, unable to find an answer for Mai.

Eventually, he emotionally confesses that he's afraid to die. Mai, embracing him, reassures him, urging him to confront the monsters, take the risk, fight for survival, that he is indeed strong, and that Frank's death must not be in vain. Encouraged by her words, Michael relents, allowing his lightning armor to dissipate. His lightning dome then generates a bolt that strikes multiple monsters, the lightning then chains off to the next monster and eliminating each in turn. Recognizing the opportunity to escape, Mai emerges and rallies the group, urging those determined to win the battle to remain while instructing others to retreat. Amidst the chaos, numerous soldiers, maids, and slaves board buses to flee. Meanwhile, a small group comprising a few dozen soldiers, Nakao, Rune, Simbad, Mai, and Michael opt to stay behind. As Michael's lightning bolt ceases its chain reaction, the monsters rush toward them. With determination, Mai encourages everyone to fight with everything they got!
