Chapter 104 - There Won't Be a Single Corpse in this Base!

======

A deafening sound echoed in the ears and shattered rocks broke through the air.

A figure, with a breathtaking presence, forcefully entered the base. The familiar voice of his younger brother tinged with anger, rang out.

"Are you alright?"

David looked at Clark, drenched in sweat and looking weak with his eyes revealing a hint of murderous intent.

He suspected that all of this was a planned military operation, designed to trap and capture Clark.

'Clark just passed out, and the military arrived at the scene as if they had known it in advance.'

"I'm alright."

Clark shook his dizzy head and tried to muster a smile to indicate that he was okay, but it was a pale and ugly attempt.

Rip!

A grating metallic sound ensued.

David effortlessly tore apart the nearly solid steel shackles, showing no signs of effort. He casually tossed the shattered shackles aside as if they were garbage, even though they weighed several tons.

Watching through the screen, Sam Lane and Luthor's faces turned pale. Another being with powers beyond human imagination, coupled with the incredible speed at which he appeared.

Was he a fellow alien of Superman?!

While it was understandable to have one mutated guy, the presence of two beings that common sense made them consider the possibility of their shared origin. Could Superman truly be an alien?

At this moment, even Sam Lane had to entertain doubts.

"Can you walk?" Despite breaking into a heavily guarded military base, David displayed no sense of urgency, emanating a dark and menacing aura. It was as if this place was his private garden.

"Barely."

Supported by his brother, Clark staggered to his feet. Despite his extreme weakness, walking was not a significant issue.

"I'll take you out of here!"

After saying this, David prepared to lead him out of the base. Clark, who was blind, hesitated for a moment and then spoke.

"If possible, brother, try not to kill anyone."

"No wonder you're seen as a hero by the people of Metropolis. You're really kind."

David, who was supporting him by the arm, raised an eyebrow.

Clark forced a wry smile on his face. He was already in a sorry state after being captured by the military, which was embarrassing enough.

If it weren't for his brother's rescue, and considering the sound-based weaponry he had encountered earlier, he really didn't have confidence in escaping this base on his own.

But considering all aspects, Clark didn't want his younger brother to go on a killing spree. With David's ability, once he started, it would be a one-sided massacre, and he didn't know how many people would die.

"Don't worry, there won't be any corpse in this base today."

If the situation were different, David would not hesitate to restrain his hands. However, since his inherently kind parents knew he was here, it was better not to kill too much.

As he spoke, he raised his palm and unleashed an energy shockwave.

A hole the size of a person opened up, and a violent burst of cosmic energy pierced through wall after wall, obliterating everything in its path.

A dozen base personnel happened to be behind those walls, and their flesh and bones evaporated, leaving no trace behind.

With no bodies as evidence, David believed he couldn't be considered guilty of murder.

In the end, If too many people 'disappeared', it would definitely only be the military's slander.

He believed that his father and mother, compared to the military who wanted to capture their eldest son for experimentation, wouldn't doubt their own child.

Clark, who thought he had convinced his brother for once in his life, had a smile on his face, before his expression froze.

Within the range of his super hearing, the heartbeats of a dozen people suddenly disappeared.

"Brother?"

"Don't worry, they've just been transported away to another world."

Soldiers armed with guns quickly reacted, and a roaring metal onslaught was unleashed. David raised his hand, and a purple energy shockwave wiped one person after another out of existence in this world.

Listening to David's emotionless perfunctory reply, Clark felt a little frustrated. Did he think he was an eight-year-old child?

"David, let's get out of here quickly," he said urgently.

Clang! Clang! Clang!

In the distance, a section of an armored vehicle with a mounted machine gun melted and evaporated by a high-intensity energy beam, along with the driver and gunner who disappeared.

"I can handle this; don't worry about me," David replied casually, thanking Clark for his concern.

How could Clark be more concerned about his brother? Missile strikes wouldn't even scratch David!

David had the power to whisk them out of the military base in an instant, yet he chose to walk step by step as if he were an ordinary person. It was obvious that he was venting his pent-up anger.

If it continued like this, there might not be many survivors left in this base.

Clark gritted his teeth, wanting to use his own strength to escape quickly. However, his weakened body, combined with the effects of the powerful sedatives he had been given, left him with little strength. It was nighttime, and he was too exhausted, so he had to be guided by his brother.

Bang!

In the base's surveillance footage, bullets struck David and Clark but were deflected. Soldiers approached the opponent, and then his eyes emitted purple laser beams within moments, their entire body was wiped out, and not even bones were left!

"At this rate, he's going to wipe out all the soldiers in my entire base!"

Sam Lane exclaimed in a mixture of shock and anger, pounding his fist on the console as he connected to a channel.

"Dr. Owens."

"What's happening in the base? Is there an earthquake? Why can hear gunfire inside the base!"

Before he could speak, on the screen, a middle-aged scientist in a white lab coat appeared, looking flustered. The soil on the ceiling of his underground room was falling in small clumps due to the tremors, and he hurriedly asked.

This base was more than just an ordinary base.

General Lane had chosen to bring the unconscious Clark here because it was one of the military's highly classified research facilities, housing numerous talented individuals and expensive research equipment.

Superman was supposed to become another top-secret research project at this base, but now things had taken a turn.

Out of nowhere, a guy with the potential to be even more troublesome than Superman appeared.

"The base is under attack by a terroristic life form, likely of extraterrestrial origin.

We need the Prometheus Protocol activated immediately. Have John prepare for it and establish a neural connection with Zero Suit. Deploy him for combat to subdue the intruder and recapture the experimental subject."

"Extraterrestrial terroristic life form?"

Dr. Owens looked dumbfounded, as if he were hearing a fairy tale.

"However, according to the schedule, there's at least another six months of testing before the Steel Soldier can be safely completed. General, by rashly initiating the suit like this, Sergeant Coburn may risk brain overload and death during the neural integration process."

He quickly regained his composure and hastily explained.

"He's been training for this project for five years. Qualified soldiers never fear battle and death. I have already called John over."

Sam Lane shouted in an authoritative tone that brooked no refusal.

On the base surveillance screen, a tank locked onto the two individuals and fired a shell. The massive warhead whizzed through the air but was detonated in mid-air by a laser beam raised by David.

They remained unharmed as the missile exploded, and a group of soldiers was turned into dismembered corpses.

Amidst the swirling smoke, severely wounded soldiers lay on the ground, wailing and screaming out in agony.

The armed soldiers looked at the figure that had finally emerged from the base room. Their bodies were trembling, and fear gripped their hearts.

"Monster, help!

Save me! I don't want to die!"

A soldier with weak resolve shouted, hating his parents for not giving him a few more legs, before turning and fleeing into the distance.

"This thing is a monster that no human can defeat!"

It seemed like death followed wherever this person went. In just a short while, nearly a hundred people had died at his hands, and their guns were unable to stop his advance even momentarily.

Fear and despair spread throughout everyone's hearts.

In the control room, Luthor raised an eyebrow after hearing the conversation between Sam Lane and the doctor.

"Steel Soldier?"

"Lex Luthor, everything you just heard is top-secret military information. I will ask you to sign a confidentiality agreement later.

If today's events leak out, you will be arrested on charges of treason and leaking national secrets," Sam Lane said coldly, casting a disdainful glance at him.

"General, I understand the stakes.

However, this guy's physical abilities seem to rival Superman's, and his energy release abilities are obviously even stronger than Superman's."

Luthor raised his hands in a surrendering gesture, smiling calmly.

"Can your Steel Soldier's individual combat capabilities match that of a heavily armored tank?"

On the screen, a heavyweight tank weighing over a hundred tons with steel armor that was 200 mm thick had just been obliterated by a single energy beam. It was penetrated and directly beaten into scrap metal flowing with molten iron,

"Just wait and see.

Neither he nor Superman are getting away!"

As each soldier fell, Sam Lane's anger appeared as if turning into a tangible force, and he fixed his furious gaze on the figure emanating purple light on the screen.

The Zero Suit was entirely constructed from the expensive and top-secret Prometheus metal, which was the hardest metal in the world and unknown to the outside world. The Prometheus Project was intended to create the first line of defense against possible alien invaders.

Simultaneously, it carried the vital mission of preserving the spark of human civilization in the face of an unstoppable extraterrestrial invasion. It was the ultimate weapon that the White House and the military had high hopes for!
