The next day, when the daily break started, Ethan once again approached the bars that separated him from Delphine.

A faint, hopeful smile crossed his face when he he saw her sleeping.

He had barely slept the previous night, consumed by worry for her safety and his own longing to see her again.

Actually, he hadn't been sleeping properly since he was told about the mission.

He would have preferred her to stay on Earth, where she could be contacted with no dangers.

With that mission, she had voluntarily entered the wolves' den and she could not afford any missteps.

But, at the same time, he knew that Coralia's situation was critical and that this was the only way to save her.

And he knew that the resistance would take care of her and that he could protect her better up close.

Those thoughts prevented him from falling asleep at night and when she arrived the situation hadn't improved at all.
