"My little fish is not so little anymore" her brother teased immediately they were in her room. "You gave uncle a taste of his own medicine. Next time, he would think twice before messing with you".
"I felt bad talking to him like that but it was the only way to make him stop and realize what he's doing" Almora said. "I really hope he does" her brother seconded. "Let's talk about other things. Gist me about school".
Almora told her brother everything that happened in school but not really everything. She skipped her 3 weeks stay in the dark forest, her being in a dead state and finding out she's a chosen one. Other things apart from those one, she told him.
They were finally done with their lunch and Almora was also done telling her brother everything. "I'll go and drop your plate in the kitchen for you. You can just go outside to get some fresh air" he smiled at her and took his plate with hers and went outside.
Almora breathed out and got down from the bed, wore her slippers and went out of the room not forgetting to lock it. She had taken her phone with her too. She went outside the house and walked to the garden side. "It's been a while since I uploaded anything on my social media account. My fans would have missed me" she said to herself.
"I'm also one of those fans so please don't keep us waiting too long" her Nana said from behind her startling Almora. "Nana" she turned and smiled and walked up to her and hugged her left arm. Her Nana patted her head. "Your uncle isn't such a bad person".
"Then why doesn't he like me Nana?. I haven't done anything wrong to him or have I?" she asked, facing her grandma while still hugging her arm. "Come here" her Nana said holding her hand. She walked her over to a chair not so far from where they were and they both sat.
"When your mother was pregnant with you. Some people with magic were able to give birth in the normal human hospital but your ultrasound was different from the way other babies own were. That was when your father decided they would give birth to you in a hospital for people like us here" Nana explained. "So there are hospitals for people like us on this planet too" she asked, curious and her grandma nodded.
"We're really in hiding" she chuckled. "Immediately you were born and your father set his eyes on you, he knew you were special and different. The doctors can predict a baby's power when they are born. That was how he knew you were a Red. I could see your uncle's affection for you in his eyes the moment he saw you but hearing that you were a Red clouded his eyes with hate. His hatred for Reds had clouded his love for you. All I'm saying is make him realize his love for you. That action of yours had struck him today" her Nana explained to her, holding her hands in hers.
"I believe in you my child. I believe in you" her Nana smiled at her making Almora's heart melt. She didn't know when a tear drop fell from her eye. Her grandma hugged her and patted her back. "I need to go back in now. This cold breeze isn't for me" her Nana said and left.
Almora sat on the bench, thinking about what her Nana just explained to her. She was already lost in thoughts when her phone started to ring which brought her back to reality. She checked the caller and smiled on seeing who it was. She picked it and said "Is someone missing me already?"
"And who said I missed you?" Lucian said from the other end. "That hurts" she said holding her chest playfully like he could see her from the phone. He chuckled softly from the other end. 'Such a drama queen' he thought to himself.
"I'm sure your dad is no where near you which is why you picked my call" Lucian said. "Yh I'm just outside getting some air" she sighed into the phone. "Care to share why you are getting air outside" he asked as he knew something was bothering her from the way she sounded.
She took a deep breath, released it and said "Firstly, my brother told me that Evans and his family are going to be here on Tuesday for lunch and dinner. Dad wants to do business with them..". "That bastard!" Lucian cursed. "Hey, I can handle it okay. I'm not a damsel in distress that needs saving all the time" she pouted and Lucian let out a small laugh as he could imagine the way she looked like now.
So what's the second thing?" he asked. "Well, I stood up to my uncle today in ways that I didn't even imagine I would. His words were hurting me every single time he said them. He never for once saw me as a human or as his niece. He always saw me like I was his enemy, always calling me demon".
