Chapter 48 - The smell of home

Her mother smiled at her and said "Come her give your mum a big hug". She dived into the hug immediately. She had missed her mum a lot.

"I guess have also been forgotten also" her dad said and they all laughed at him.

Almora broke free from her mother's hug and went straight to her father. "Dad" she said as she enveloped him in a hug.

She broke free from the hug and her dad asked "How is school?". "School is great Dad".

"Let's go inside" he said and led the way. Almora let her grandparents and her mother move to the front so that she could talk to her brother before going in.

They stopped waiting for them to enter. When they saw that they had gone inside, Chris said, rubbing her shoulders "Uncle and his family are also inside".

She turned to look at him and took a deep breath.

"I'll be fine. Their taunts can no longer affect me. I'm going to shut them up for good this Thanksgiving" she said. "That's like my little Fish" he said, smiling at her.

"Don't worry everything will fall in place very soon" he assured her and they both walked in. The exterior of the house was magnificent. Despite being rich, they kept the house simple and exquisite.

There was a little fountain of water close to the living room. The chairs were plain cream colored leathers.

The dining table wasn't long and wasn't short either. It was just for the size of their family and incase they had visitors. The seats there were 20.

The living room was like a combination of three big living rooms. One couldn't imagine how their rooms would look like.

Almora closed her eyes taking in the scent of her home.

She opened her eyes and said "I've missed the smell of home. It feels like I was gone for 3 years not 3 months".

"You should have really stayed behind for 3 years" a man who looked younger to her father said. He is her Uncle, Lance.

His wife, Bia and his two daughters stood behind him.

"Lance if you can't welcome my daughter properly, then keep your remarks to yourself" Mr Rencia warned without looking at him.

"Go in dear and relax, okay" her father said and she nodded affirmative.

She turned to her Uncle and his family giving him a stare and then she walked past them.

After she was gone, Mr Rencia turned to face his brother. "I wonder why you still let that Red live under your roof" Lance said.

"That Red is my daughter Lance and if there's one thing I know. No matter what power she has, I will continue to love and cherish her" Mr Rencia said sternly.

"She will eventually be the death of you Albert" Lance said.

"I said it's enough!!" Mr Rencia yelled. "If you can't do without insulting or humiliating my daughter, then leave my house this instant or you can stay and hold your dirty remarks" he said, staring hard at him and left.

"You're not thinking straight Lance" Mr Rencia's father said and also left. The others didn't say a word to him and his family and left.

"I'm sure she must be controlling brother in law and the others for them to be supporting her. How could Greenland college even admit someone like her into their school?" Bia said to her husband.

Lance didn't say anything and just left his wife and his children. "You both can go. Let me go and help sister in law in the kitchen" she said to her daughters and they nodded affirmative.

Immediately Almora got to her room. She dropped on the bed and spread her arms wide, moving it back and forth to feel the coolness of the bed.

She took her phone from her bag and dialled the number of her friends, Amy and Stacy. It was a group voice call.

They both picked. "Hey girls" Almora spoke first. "Hi" Amy and Stacy said together. "Are you home already?" Amy asked.

"Yep, I'm feeling the coolness and warmth of my bed right now" Almora replied.

"Same here" Stacy chuckled. "Well, I'm savouring the taste of my mum's cooking. Yum!!" Amy said causing Almora and Stacy to shake their heads.

"You're such a foodie" Almora teased. "Heyyy, everyone likes food. If we don't eat, how will we grow?" Amy threw back trying to win the argument. "But not like the way you do" Almora countered and Amy was left speechless.

"What about your aunt and uncle?" Stacy asked. Almora sighed and said "Well, they haven't stopped with their taunting but I'm going to shut them up for good this Thanksgiving. I've had enough of their negative remarks".
