Chapter 45 - An unexpected news.

In just a few sentences, Isaac reversed the situation and transformed John's greatest asset into nothing.

"..." Also aware of this fact, John had no choice but to force himself to admit this truth.

But accepting this truth would mean agreeing with Isaac. If it stopped there only, he wouldn't have a big loss, but it would force him to accept Isaac's conditions. And that, he wasn't ready to do it.

'I now understand why General Leon wanted us to come here at all costs to recruit the members of this guild.' Morgane mumbles in her mind while smiling ironically at John.

'This guild is not as old as many players thought; nor its members for that matter. But they were able to shine among the best players around the world right after the formation of their guide. In addition to being one of the few guilds with few members, they also have members with multiple classes, making them almost versatile. Each of the members could easily be a guild chief in some renowned guilds. Now, what are you going to do, Mr. Walker? Accept its conditions or refuse?' She continued in her thoughts while waiting to see her teammate's reaction.

Meanwhile, Isaac lazily puts his chin on his left palm whose elbow was on the armrest of his chair. "So of the two of us, who is wasting time to whom?" He then mumbles in a static voice.

His voice seems to have had the expected effect on John. The latter looks up at hers and gives her a dark look for more than a second.

"...Sigh, I will have to refer to my hierarchy." After thirty seconds of silence, John sighs while taking his smartphone out of his pocket.

"Do it, please."

Seeing Isaac give him permission with a sneaky smile, his heart becomes bitter in his chest.

He then gets up from the armchair and goes outside to contact the so-called superiors.

...

..

.

After an hour, John returned to the living room.

One long hour, the time it took him to reach an agreement with his superiors.

Upon entering the living room, he was disconcerted to see the strange atmosphere that reigned there.

For some reason, he felt like he was the only adult responsible.

Jane teamed up with Sasha and played against Morgane and Stella on Felix's video games.

"It sucks! It gives them thirty more points." Sasha swore with annoyance when she saw her avatar killed by Stella.

Immediately, his attention was dragged to the place where Isaac and his 'gang' were when he heard the latter's dissatisfied voice.

"We had agreed on the ban on the use of magic; Grandpa, you're cheating!"

"Stop playing the bad loser, I only have my muscles against a kid like you. And stop calling me Grandpa! I'm only 29 years old!"

"We don't care about your name, just stop cheating!"

At the other end, on the minibar to be precise, Isaac forced himself to empty his glass of red wine following his defeat against Steeve at the arm wrestling that was refereed by Felix.

The only spectators were none other than the outsider Karl, and Isaac's two maids.

"Keukh!! Although I have resistance to poison, the sourness of this wine is abominable." While squeezing his teeth and buttocks to resist the nasty flavors of his mouth, Isaac retorted these words with his eyes closed.

But when he returned to reality. He noticed John staring at him with his hateful wolf eyes.

Gradually, the carefree atmosphere that reigns in the living room greatly decreases, not to say, flies away completely.

Isaac then looks at Rendy.

"Lilith, have you finished the task I asked you to perform?"

Immediately said, Rendy holds out a black parchment with runes engraved on at Isaac. "Here it is, master."

After recovering the parchment, Isaac inspects it thoroughly without worrying about John who was irritated when he saw him ignore it.

'As expected of her, she was able to take a drop of blood from all the members here without anyone noticing it. Thanks to this sample, this parchment will be able to teleport them without the need to move.' After deciphering Rendy's parchment and reaching this conclusion, he folds the parchment before focusing on John.

"So? When do we move?"

His question, asked with a victorious and proud smile, almost made John lose his balance.

"What tells you that they accepted your shitty conditions!?" He snarled.

But Isaac only answers him first with a smile before placing words. "Don't make yourself more stupid than you already are. Your superiors must come to the same conclusion as me; as a result, you are the only one to hide your face." Isaac's sarcasm arises like a tsunami, regretting John for asking him the question.

'The worst thing about all this is that this asshole is right. I don't know why General Leon is so keen to have him in our camps to the point of accepting such losing conditions. After all, he is not the only ranker in GLO, he is not even the best strictly speaking.' Johnathan murmured while grinding his teeth with annoyance.

"Give me the list of those you have chosen for the expedition; the authorized number must not exceed twenty players, and all must be certified members of your guild." Leaving aside his humiliating mood, he pronounces these words in a monotonous voice while reaching out to Isaac.

"It's not to me that you have to ask that, it's to the master of the guild."

John frowns becoming more and more annoyed by Isaac's antic.

But before he says anything rude, Sasha puts down the game controller and approaches them with a small notebook that she had just taken out of her inventory.

"Here, here's what you're looking for."

Confusion took hold of John following this anomaly. "What does that mean?" He asks while receiving the notebook and leafing through it.

But even before Sasha clarified his lantern, he found the answer to his question from the first page of the notebook.

[Pure blood guild members.]

-Heliana

-Grim Reaper

-Sylvia

-Holy pope

-Odin

-Night moon

-Furry General

-Stella

-Shadow demon:

-Karl Vamp:

Seeing these names, his face blackens.

"I have been the guild leader since our former founding leader passed the reins to me following his resignation." Sasha's words confirmed his suspicions.

"What!?" He was unable to hold his cool when Sasha's words resounded in his eardrums.

But the truth was there, written in black on white, in front of his eyes.

Denying this is like saying Sasha's notebook is fake.

With this uncertainty, his look leads on Isaac with eyes eager to know more.

The latter gives him another odd smile. "I am no longer a member of this guild. It's been at least more than a year since I resigned from this position." He releases this bomb without any emotional disturbance.

This only made John more bitter in his heart. "If you are no longer part of this guild, you could have said it before!"

"Would it change anything?" He asks immediately.

"..." Even if John can't find the words to answer him, his facial expression explains everything.

But Isaac didn't care. He then jumps onto the bar while instinctively stroking the head of Cindy who approaches him. "Assuming you knew this information in advance, would it have influenced your decision? You wanted my collaboration, and you have it. As for the rewards in exchange for my work, it is up to me and me alone to decide what to do with it, so you have no say in this.

-Anyway, I would even say that I facilitated your mission. Because if you had to enter into this type of contract with the members of the guild, I would have no obligation to participate. So what bothers you about that?"

Following Isaac's additional explanations, John and Morgane remained speechless for a long time.

But the most surprising thing for them was to see that the others, except Jane, did not seem to be surprised by this upsetting news.

'They knew it! From the beginning, they knew that this kid shitting me by playing the role of the intermediary.' He clenches his fists to remain calm in the face of the pranks and humiliations that he has been experiencing from the beginning.
