Chereads / Natasha Cromwell / Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: The Present

Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: The Present

Once she opened her eyes and see herself in the mirror, alone with her servants and her friend, doing their business. Quite staring at herself in the mirror and being silent, she grew up with what her parents wished for her to be.

One of her maids handed her tea and asked."Ms. Natasha, when will you get married?" Natasha sip her tea before she replied, quite annoyed. "That is none of your business, I command you to stop asking me one of those ridiculous questions."

"I'm deeply sorry, Miss Natasha."

"Why would you even ask that? Is it your responsibility to care if someone is engaged or not? I have no husband yet."

"Then who is that child's father?"

Anesha stopped cleaning the table after hearing the question coming from the other maid's mouth before walking up to her and slapping her across the face.

"Have you got no manners? Why do you care about that child's father?"

Natasha took another sip before replying calmly. "Relax, Anesha," said while looking at the maid.

" That child's father is the one I hate. Truly hate the most, I wouldn't want to hear about my daughter's father. Understood?"

The maid looks down, embarrassed, before nodding and immediately walks out of the room. Both Natasha and Anesha sigh at the same time, as we can tell, we can see Anesha's face looking completely pissed.

On the other hand, Natasha goes back to being silent, crossing her arms and staring at the floor.

"That girl pisses me off, if I were you I would fire her. "

"Just like that? She is just asking, I have the right to teach her a lesson. Furthermore, I want you to warn the rest of the servants that I wouldn't want to hear anything a word coming from their mouth about the child's father."

"Understood. Anything else?"

"Get Frank."

"Alright." Anesha bowed down after saying that and walks out of the room to get butler Frank, who is busy washing the dishes. Anesha put a bright smile on her face and surprised him by hugging him from behind.

The look on his face is very funny that would make Anesha laugh out loud. "It isn't funny," said, continuing what he was doing. Anesha tapped on his shoulder, "Natasha is looking for you."

Frank instantly finished washing the dishes in one go before going to Natasha, who is reading a book on the balcony. He came just right on time, "do you need anything?" He asks out of curiosity.

Before Natasha replied, she placed the book on the table. "How is my daughter doing?"

"Oh, she is busy playing with her dolls. And, Natasha, you should spend time on your daughter, Take a break from your work before it's too late."

Natasha stayed quiet for a while before responding.

"You're right but I must continue working, it's due in 5 months."

. . .

There's this silence, Natasha looks up at him, and seeing his eyes hurt made her realize what she has said; her hand is reaching out to him, telling him that's not what she meant.

"Are you saying that your work is more important than spending time with your daughter? I mean I get it, your work is also important but... That's so sad and disappointing to hear. Don't forget that I experience that when I was young, I don't want her to experience it. You must at least spend time with your daughter."

He turns around and left. Natasha sits there and stayed quiet. Frank goes to her daughter's room, quietly walks up to her and surprised her.

"Ah! you scared me!"

"Hahaha! Do I? Forgive me."

"Is Mommy going to play with us?"

"I'm afraid not, but don't worry, it's okay. Butler Frank is here to play with you!"

While they are having fun, Natasha silently opens the door a bit and watches them having fun with a small smile on her face; we can see, sadness behind her smile. Frank notices her as Natasha quietly closes the door and proceeds to her workplace. Frank frowned.

leaving her daughter behind with Frank, she sat down and stare at the ceiling. Couldn't think of any ideas for her new chapter. She hits herself on the head, getting stressed as she groans. Being a writer is not that easy, let out a sigh as she rings the bell beside her, calling Anesha.

Anesha walked in, seeing Natasha leaning on her chair, crossing her arms while looking at her. Curious as Anesha asked. "Is there anything wrong, Natasha? do you need anything?"

Natasha sighed before replying with her hand placed on her cheek. "Can you get me a glass of wine?"

"Seriously again, Natasha? you're slowly getting obsessed with alcohol."

"I'm not, wine tastes better than I thought."

"Well for me, it isn't. I don't want you to become an alcoholic."

"Let me ask you then, have you seen me drunk?"

"Well.. uh.. no?"

"See? I got it from my father."

Anesha glared at her for a while and sighed, she got no other choice but to bring her bottle of wine and glass but before she go, Natasha called her name to ask something as Anesha turns around to face her. "Do you have any ideas for my new story?"

Anesha shook her head before she left to grab some wine.

Natasha grab some paper to think of whatever comes to her mind for her ideas, after coming back, Anesha made out a thud on the desk, gladly it didn't break. We can tell that she is angry, and Anesha goes back to her work. On the other hand, Natasha kept on writing what came to her mind, making a list of her ideas and chugging out 1 to 3 glasses of wine. After a few minutes; she ended up sleeping on her desk, quietly snoring. Then found herself standing on the grass, looking up at the tree.

A dream..? Yes, it is. It is not just a dream, a memory from the past.

Slowly as Natasha climb to the tree.

Once she is on top of the tree, her eyes light up with joy and the wind blows against her hair, she can feel the breeze on her skin; while having fun, a familiar voice can be heard. It is her mother, yelling at her to get down from there.

Out of panic, worried, and anger. Her mother started climbing as the servants came in and stop her. "Oh my goodness, get down from there, nobles don't climb trees! get down from there right now before you get hurt!" sadly as Natasha came down from the tree, frowning. "But Mother, you need to go up there! it is so pretty, you can see the view."

"So what? do you not see the view from the balcony? are you blind?"

Natasha looked at the servants who were looking at her and whispering, as she slowly look down, trying not to cry. Her mother annoyingly sighs and walks away.

Anesha worriedly rush towards me and hugs me, "are you alright?" she asked, Natasha couldn't even look at her as she nods. This proves that she isn't even alright, we can tell by her face.

Anesha gently rubs her cheeks and smiles. "Don't worry, it'll be fine."

"I keep making her disappointed."

"Well, that's how life is." she grabs her hand and rubs it.

"In this life, world, everything could happen and no one knows what would happen next. Now get up, lift your chin and let's go home. "

Still holding her hand and walking home together, she is that type of friend who would do anything in her power to help you out, she is such an angel. She is always right there for you. As we head back home, her mother couldn't stop yelling at her, and kept looking down at the floor, Natasha kept trying her best not to cry. While her father and the servants calm down and stop her.

Please let me just disappear already... I don't want to live as a noble anymore, I wanted to live one of those normal people with happy lives.

I wanted to become a writer.
