When he came up, he was at the arena. It seemed he had arrived just in time. One of his subordinates was already limp and dropping to the floor.
Knowing what Jeremy Dupont was capable of, he knew that a retreat was the safest of options, else he might not be able to return with any of the Mercenaries he came with.
He activated his ability and they all began to sink into the floor, it was at that moment that Jeremy was getting ready to dash from where he stood.
Everyone was able to feel the pressure from the speed he was about to display. At the last moment, Jeremy saw him.
He had sensed a familiar energy appear out of nowhere but he didn't give it much thought at the moment because he assumed that it had to be an ally. Moreover, he felt that whoever it was, they weren't going to be much of a threat to him..
"It was you, Salvador" Jeremy muttered in anger. "You led this mindless massacre of innocent people" Jeremy bellowed.
Those that were in the arena could see the veins on Jeremy crackling with lightning, his veins were bulging. For an outsider watching, it was clear that Jeremy had an uneaten beef with the person he had just seen.
Salvador touched the scar on his face, just above his left eye. His expression as Jeremy looked straight at him in anger was one that lacked regret or remorse, his expression was one of hatred, one that craved revenge.
"You, I'm coming for you. And then each and every one of you" he said looking at Jeremy and then the rest of the leaders as he sank into the ground.
"Why wait? We could hav at it right now" Jeremy shouted and dove at Salvador. Those that were left in the arena shivered. The sheer speed was intimidating, one moment they could see Jeremy and the next he was at the other end.
The only indicator that he had moved was a streak of light that flashed through the arena. But when he flashed over to the other side, Salvador had already vanished.
"FuCk FuCk FuCk" Jeremy screamed in anger "that slippery bastard, I swear I should have killed him then" Jeremy lamented.
The military and other groups that were in the arena slowly edged backwards. The only few that had remained without moving were the three remaining contestants from the competition.
Bayland had recorded ten casualties from the attack which had brought the competition to its abrupt end. Three of the casualties were from the school itself and the other seven were divided amongst the visitors among the audience.
There were a lot of injured, but that wasn't a problem because due to the gathering of the four regions, there were a lot of skilled mages in healing present at the event.
They had immediately gotten to work and were reducing the numbers of the injured in real time.
The leaders and the major powers which formed the council had been called together for a meeting. Headmaster Montey, the head of Bayland was also present at the table. He had to answer to the council.
He was in charge of everything that had to do with the school, so he was going to be held accountable for the tragedy that had just occurred.
"I made sure to cover all out bases, I think this incident spawned from last night after one of our skilled personnel, Drake was murdered" Headmaster Montey was saying
"Wait, what do you mean Drake was murdered?" Jeremy asked as he leaned forward on the table. It seemed like the information did not completely go round the council.
"Yes, I think the whole incident started from the murder, I think it's also somehow linked with what just happened here today"
So, what happened? Why were they able to infiltrate and do so much damage even when you were already at alert following the murder from last night" Astor asked.
"I think it's an inside job" Commander Romain started to explain. "The enemy diverted our attention with the murder, most of our men had been moved to the entrances in the school, after having combed the premises. But they were already inside the school waiting for the last time to strike."
"Isn't it too convenient that commander had moved with his forces to one of the entrance and I was called to resolve an issue at the exact moment that we were attacked?" Headmaster Montey asked.
"This was a craftily masterminded plan, well thought out and executed by the enemy, whoever they are"
"Salvador" Jeremy said "it was Salvador" he repeated.
Some of the other leaders nodded their head in agreement. It looked like they had met briefly before joining the council.
"But it wasn't him who orchestrated this. He doesn't have the brains to pull off something like this"
"Of course, he doesn't" Montey who had heard a little about the legend of Salvador had to agree with Jeremy. "There were also other coordinated attacks in the other regions. They were carried out at about the same time we were attack.
They all fought back and managed to get rid of the invaders, but I'm afraid one of the Headmasters did not make it" his voice turned sombre as he announced to the council.
"Which of them" Astor asked
"The school in the East, Headmaster Hart"
The council observed a minute silence for the Headmaster even without having to discuss it, they all knew the headmaster. He had taught a few of the current leaders.
He must have been taken by surprise, or so we're their thoughts.
Those that planned to brutalize Montey verbally for the incident that had just happened at Bayland had a change of mind when they heard the news.
Jeremy on the other hand wondered why he had to get the news from Montey, he had spies and informants all over the region. It made him wonder if they were slacking off.
